Thanks for a creative music filled 2018!
…You all outdid yourselves! Thank you for supporting our students and this community so that we were able to have an extremely successful event. We could not have done this without all of you.

Here's a great note from our partners at Melodic Caring Project after the February 1st show with SHEL and Lana McMullen:
"What a fantastic show and a beautiful evening! Thank you all for your part in making this happen and sending love and support to the kids in their hospital rooms.  I wanted to share a comment and picture we received from Maya’s family after the show:
'Levi I wanted to share some thoughts with you and Eva [of SHEL]. This whole journey that Maya is on has, on the bad days, been soul crushing. But, on good days, has showered us all with sweet love and strength. The connections that Maya has made through MCP has given her such happiness and that gives her strength to keep pushing. The visit with you and Eva on Wednesday and watching SHEL's awesome concert really helped Maya turn the corner! Her numbers started rising Wednesday night, probably going home Saturday!! It is a special gift you've all shared with us, a healing gift. Eva - it was wonderful to meet you. So enjoyed watching you and Maya playing together. Maya was totally singing along with you when you played the owl song during the concert, so awesome! You all have a standing invitation to our house anytime you are in town. Here is to more good days in the future than bad, for us all!'
That concert was so much more than entertainment. It was encouragement and joy for kids and families who desperately need it…Thank you!Â

WHY VOLUNTEER AT THE ABBEY? “To answer your questions in general, I started volunteering at Abbey arts because I’m interested in pursuing a career in art therapy. I am currently working in a fine arts degree to then move on to an associates of applied psychology then a masters in art therapy. I believe that art in general is a need for us to survive. We are all artistic whether it’s visual, musical or more subtle because art is communication. We communicate to express ourselves and without it, we cannot function as humans. Abbey arts is a place where all arts are welcome and affordable to the public. It not only is a great source of inspiration but also provides many things such as the “next stage” thing I’m applying to that would give me a great opportunity to start my career as a live painter and affirm myself as an artist by getting a foot in the art industry. For the couple of times I volunteered for abbey arts, I felt not only extremely welcome by the overall atmosphere but also surprised of the diversity of events. I hope to volunteer much more and be apart of this growing art community.”
"I wanted to thank you for all the hard work that went in to the Triple Door show (The Winter Round). You are truly making great things happen within the music community here in Seattle, and I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all you do!" -Jason Dodson (of The Maldives - pictured here in the red hat)
It was especially timely to have such a peaceful gathering here at the Abbey on the day of the attacks in Paris. Lama Tenzin visited and met with a small group for an evening of meditation, tea, and community here at the Abbey on November 13th, 2015. Hosted by Amy & John Richards (KEXP). "*one of the biggest things you can do for the world is to educate the girls.... All girls no matter what caste, race, or ability.*" - Lama Tenzin His GIFT school is Girls Institute For Technology and he rescues disabled low caste girls and is building a school for them to learn technology and be self sufficient and empowered. After that project is SOS Sound Of Soul music school for blind girls. Check out his work here and consider supporting - http://www.partnershipsforchange.com/projects/lama-tenzin-and-himalayan-kids/
“Y'all are an inspiration to my three children who need authentic artist role models who are passionate about what they do and fearless about sharing their hearts. Thank you Nathan for all your heart felt work!!” -Glory Cancro, Visual Artist at The Round
“I really appreciate your organization and the donors who support us vets. Many I know simply can't buy tickets to events. Your gifts have really lightened the hearts of veterans. I thank you again.”Â
Pat Ryan, Vet Tix Participant
"The event was a huge success by all accounts. And what's more, as the one running the show, I really have to say that working with the Abbey staff has been one of the best event experiences I've had." - Tyler, Image Journal From the sold out awards event featuring the amazing Bruce Cockburn (Canadian Music Hall of Fame)
