i am a serial fallout ghoul lover, ghouls number one fan. i think i am a bit partial to characters who are disfigured or deformed in a way that isnt cool or romanticizable or aesthetically appealing. like theyre not just some bitch with a cool facial scar. its something about being visibly different and disturbing to other people, outcast from the getgo that is easily relatable. i think fallout does a really good job giving these characters strong and interesting personalities and showing their humanity despite their ghoulness, instead of just making them out as disgusting monsters (and im saying that minus obvious character flaws because every idiot in the wasteland is doing morally reprehensible stuff. id say most ghouls issues (drug addiction and gluttonous debauchery. (can you guess the state i wrote this in)) are more relatable and acceptable than other peoples problems (whatever the brotherhood is doing for one)) . but even at that i wouldnt say i find characters like the ghoul or john hancock appealing just because of charisma or their personality. really truthfully i find their appearances charming, no modifiers attached.
