Remember
Getting up in my old house sure feels great! Sun was shining through the windows, the silky touch of the fine bed sheets my mom had, the smell of the strawberries in the house … I feel well rested finally. I talked with my mother and told her I will be around Velia for a bit, but I still have to continue my journey as I feel I will discover more about my past 5 years that I missed. Of course, I could just stay here and live a peaceful life like before, no troubles, just forgetting that something happened, but I ain’t quite that kind of person … I am curious and I never quit! Had a refreshing morning as I went to see the crops my mother was taking care of, helped her a bit with some work and continued my search for a well-polished sole for Severo … with no luck though. I ended up killing loads of animals, and only 2 days ago I was crying over a Fox I had to murder. Is this the effect of Black Spirit? Am I starting to not value life itself so much anymore? At least I am going to put their dead bodies to use, make some hides and sell them to the villagers. Although my mother told me that I have quite some silver she kept it for me and also some from my dead father (along plenty of objects), I still want to know that I do things by myself.
So I went close to the coast to watch the sun rise from beneath the sea… I sure missed these blue hues and I am glad I can see them again!
Continuing my journey, I was told to meet a cute Shai just near the coast of Velia … and even though I used to know everybody around here, it was a surprise for me to get to know somebody new. She told me to go and talk to Alustin the alchemist …. Alustin … that old man, is still alive?
I took a deep breath, watched the horizon, smelled the salty and fresh air and let the sea breeze gently touch my face… I missed you Velia!
Along the coast, I couldn’t help myself and as old habits die hard, I checked the drying fish racks near Crio to see what I can get … for free! When I was a kid, I was always doing this, having the impression that Crio never noticed but he just let me do whatever I wanted… I was just having fun!
Meeting with Alustin and so many people from town sure can be exhausting especially after you’ve gone missing for a few years… He was impressed and amazed that I was not consumed by the Black Spirit and suggested I should continue my journey and travels. He sent me to visit Igor Bartali, and even if he may not be my favorite person, I went and checked out what’s happening.
Igor was never fond of me, or better said, he didn’t like the rukus I was doing when I was a kid. But seeing that I am all grown up, maybe we can put aside our small conflicts and work towards getting my memories back. He used to be an adventurer himself, but after he became the chief of Velia, he couldn’t do much towards that anymore. His wife must have been happy, as she was always disapproving whenever he started telling one of his long experienced stories.
He told me to meet with Ernil, as now I will have access to a personal storage box and check out with Tachros, the skill instructor, for some advices regarding combat.
He is this big guy … trust me, he is huge, no wonder he won so many fights in his life. We talked about some combat techniques and, because I guess this day is all about meeting old and new friends, he sent me to Eileen.
Now, Eileen and me used to be friends when we were teenagers. Not the best ones, but we did use to hang out here and there. She was nothing special to me, she was the typical “normal” girl I might say. She wouldn’t join us whenever we were doing something “wrong” but she was never against it either. No wonder she is just a small vendor today. She used to hang out more with Bartali’s daughter, Emma, and it was no surprise that she gave me a necklace for her … Apparently Emma has been having all sorts of nightmares lately and this might help her. I might be a bit mean here, but I guess she deserves them, she was a huge bitch back in the days just because her father was and still is important…
We are all grown up now though, so there is not point holding anymore grudges. However, I will check on Emma later, as I have to kill (oh yes, more) some creatures for various items . Need to help Eileen with some Parasitic Bees, Tachros with Stoneback crabs and Weasel Tails for Alustin.
It wasn’t much of a hard work, I am getting better and better in combat and some small creatures won’t pose a threat to me … well, yes, the crabs were kinda big and tough to kill them just with two cuts, but still, I didn’t feel like I could die…
After I delivered the items, I told myself that I deserve a “prize”, so I went to the Tavern and had some drinks. Loads of lovely people, new adventurers mostly. Drank at least 5-6 beers, danced on the bard’s music and at some point I blacked out …
…but no worries, woke up on the table in the tavern, with just a tiny bit amount of drool coming from my mouth, thinking I am still pretty decent I can still do this at only 5 PM.
I went to the central market, sold some of the things I had with me and Shiel asked me to help him with some Iron Ore. This request came in perfectly as I was thinking anyway to do something chill. So I went at Fleme Hills to gather some and also enjoy the view.
Coming back in town, I found several villagers having fun, dancing and chanting songs, as two musicians from the north were visiting Velia and delighted us with their music. And you know me, I am not going to back off from anything related to having a good time, so I joined them, making sure to put my good voice to good use!
I would not mind living a life like this, entertaining people and travelling from city to city…
On my way back home, I decided to watch the sunset from the Training Grounds, why not, I can enjoy my last day of peace with some warm rays. It is all empty now and nobody is here, but I can almost see phantoms of the past around this place and remember how everything used to be…
This place will just remain as a good memory in my mind and I know it will never be the same…
But I am going to discover new places, new adventures, new people, new friends, new … everything! Yes, past was great, and all the melancholy is sure comforting ‘till you realise that we are all living in the present and it is the future that is ahead of us. I am going to create new memories to look back to and I will do my best to enjoy them!
