In my Final Exam piece, I am going to alter my use of the VHS Tape and create a large scale prop/installation, in particular wings. Wings connote travel, or rising above something; creating them out of the tape creates a correlation between a person’s memories and where those memories lead a person. Making it large scale indicates importance or prevalence combined with the fact that I intend the installation to be an interactive piece (you take a picture with the prop), which would put the piece in the realms of something that occurs commonly.
OUTCOME
Zooming in on certain aspects that consisted of interesting patterns and composition, but not considering where the edges of the set up; this worked well as I presented the images to a friend and he analysed that he likes the use of the frame and it supports the theme of entrapment in an environment.
Previously in my work, I spoke with my mentor Anna and she suggested cutting out the edges of particular images, leaving the interpretation to the audience and leaving more ambiguity behind my work. To experiment further I applied this concept to several images in my new shoots.
