NELFIES (2019)
I think as a writer, personally anyway, thereās a lot of creative time spent trying to recreate the spark I first found when I started writing. That āup at 4am with 3,000 words under my beltā feeling. Iām slower now, now meticulous, and can spend months on a project that used to take me weeks. I plan more than I actually pen down, and though my drafts are easier to polish, they take forever now. You begin to fear you went off the rails somewhere: there are tons of articles, and self-help guides, and motivating quotes about these growing pains.
itās taken me a few projects to realize that writing isnāt about chasing the original energy that made you a writer, but connecting with the parts that make you a better one. Writing is something that grows with you, rather than a stagnant happy space- or it should be anyway. This is growth, I have to remind myself, and change is good.
When do you think you will post a new chapter of dngg? My favourite story!
DNGG is actually completed! I just realized the chapter index is incomplete, so Iāll fix that later, but for now you can find all the chapters here.
Sascha gives her a bewildered look. āYou have tons of friends, plans every night. Why would you be jealous of me?ā
āI might have all that, yeah. But I donāt have someone who looks at me like he was looking at you that night.ā
āYouāve made enemies? And he rejected you?ā He scowls. āWhy didnāt you say that last night?ā
He winds a piece of her hair around his finger, and God, Sascha is weak.
Theyāre kissing, and itās the fucking last thing Sascha expected to see.

Iām here for the sibling bickering and banter
It is my FAVORITE thing to write :)
iām so pleased, i came up with a BRILLIANT idea for my fic for @1dffchallenges. too bad i have to finish camp nanowrimo before i can start it š
āHe does not,ā Sascha retorts. āHeās perfectly nice. And I can make my own decisions, you know!ā
āSure you can, but not good ones.ā Isaac makes a disgusted noise. āYou just like him because heās hot.ā
He is cute. And off-limits.
Remember that, Sascha, she scolds herself as she heads in. He is absolutely off-limits.

.........bri..........is this what i think it is
Yes! ;)
i really loved this advice so i had to share it with you
#i donāt know#i think you can do a lot of very interesting and moving stuff#with a character choosing to fight a battle that doesnāt need to be theirs#and their reasons for doing so (via thesummoningdark)
this is a good point (especially considering plot-motivation vs character-motivation), bc i think this also counts as a problem the character canāt walk away from
if the character feels it would be morally wrong to do otherwise; if they do it for a person or a cause they care about; if they try to walk away and end up changing their mind for some other reason essential to their character; thatās still a problem they canāt walk away from!
really what this is saying is that a character needs stakes in the problem so it feels personal. they donāt need to be literally trapped or personally threatened; it doesnāt even need to be a choice they would definitely make every time. it just needs to impact them enough that they canāt walk away completely unaffected
Dex, the spitting image of their father, strides down the airport hallway with an easy confidence and an air of adultishness that Sascha isnāt sure sheās seen from him before. Dex has always been quiet and perceptive, but here and now he looks grown into himself. More than all that, there are no dark circles under his eyes, no hunching of his shoulders or frown at his lips. Not like the last time sheād seen him.
He sits there with his rumpled dirty blond hair and skinny arms and broad shoulders, and reminders her a bit of home.
