I got a virtual boy today!
Just realised that the idea of virtual reality has been around for quite a while now. It just wasn’t as realised and developed as it is today. Take the virtual boy for example. A 20 year old Nintendo console which acted in a similar fashion to the oculus rift. But instead of tilting your head to change directions, you just looked through the viewer and played it as if you were playing the game on a TV with controller in hand. This poor thing didn’t last a year before being discontinued from production in 96’, making it a fairly rare console to acquire today. But it’s interesting to consider how Nintendo would’ve been intrigued by the idea of virtual reality as a way for the player to further interact within the game. Although not as successful as many of its other prestigious consoles, it was quite experimental at the time.
I swear, isn’t this hailed as Nintendo’s worse system ever.  Like it didn’t it run poorly and didn’t have really bad games?
My completed Arduino Yun twitter code. When i verified the code, it complied correctly and there weren’t any errors. So now all i need to do is upload it to a Arduino Yun board and flick the switch to see if it actually sends the tweet.
Here is part of the tweeting sketch used for Plant Bot Ned. Let me know if you want the whole sketch.
FINALLY i was able to get the plant bot to tweet from processing. YAY!!!
During Week 9′s workshop we discussed affect, artificial intelligence and robotic self-determination. In the practical component of the workshop we looked at a couple of materials such as play dough and sand to test a HCI. We were tasked to create a HCI that uses sand as a grounding method to draw something on photoshop. Our group however went on a tangent and decided to make a working d-pad to play Pacman. Image 3 shows our final d-pad, each wire was dug into an arrow made out of sand which represents the direction. We then were able to play Pacman by holding the grounded wire and then touching the sand arrows for the direction that we wanted Pacman to go in.This worked out well and we managed to play Pacman with this set up.

Deus Ex shows us what the writers think the future of augmentations will be.  These augmentations saved Adam Jensen life, and transformed him into a sort of superhuman.  Chips where added to his brain to enhance his mental abilities e.g. connection to the internet, data processing etc. His legs were replaced with motorised cybernetics legs. There is an interesting theme throughout the series about man vs machine and if we need machines to further enhance our lives. In Adams case it did, it brought him back from the dead and allowed him to do super human things . However did he loose some of his humanity from this?Â
Here is a quick depiction i made about the evolution of the terminator eye. Â the Terminator eye was the HCI i did my paper prototype on. While the interface generally looks the same, you can clearly see how it has evolved over the years since the franchise started in 1984. In Below is my paper prototype. I had to add certain features to it to make it work on paper. Â Things like options to exit select screens and so forth.Â
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare depicts easy to use and multi variety exo suits. With each suit specialising in a form of movement.

So when putting Rihanna’s face on my face i look such a beautiful drag queen.
Got to love NBA 2K15′s facial scan. This is legit quiet scary, it’s a face not even a mum could love.
Cole Phelps sneezing [x]
LA Noire. Another example of the uncanny valley at its finest. My god they went overboard in making Cole’s sneeze look realistic. Good game, but this is the kind of stuff that haunts me :S
Yeah i know right, the detail they went to was unreal. Still though, that has to be the best sneeze out of any game haha.
Oh look i became a diamond.
Last week we looked at light sensors.  We used the breadboard from the  previous week,  added new code to it and added a sensor and speaker. The idea behind this is was when an object moved in front of the light sensor the speaker would make a sound to tell us that something was close to the sensor. So being uni students we strapped it onto a box and then put the box on our heads. We then walked around the room moving closer to walls stopping when the sensor made a noise. Safe to say we had a lot of fun.
When the LightSensor doesn’t activate until after you walk into the wall.
