WITH HIS CAREER ON PAUSE and a more stable schedule, his caffeine intake had reduced, though not enough to forego his daily morning cup. Despite attempting to sleep past 10 am, he couldn't escape waking up before sunrise—some habits die hard, and his circadian rhythm remained steadfast. Arriving at the coffee shop, he already knew his usual order and stood in line without paying much attention to his surroundings or the person ahead of him. Only when he spoke did Hunter realize he knew the face before him, and a small smile instantly brightened his expression. "Abigail Peloso," he said, recognizing his sister's childhood friend. Being back in his hometown wasn't always delightful, but encountering familiar faces from his past was a pleasant surprise. "How have you been? It's been ages since you used to visit our house to play with my sister."

"-- and lastly one vanilla iced latte for Amy. Have an amazing day, love. And don't forget to check out the Boiler Room and tell them Abi sent you, yeah?"

Abigail handed the drinks to the customers in front of her with care, thanking them once the payment had been made. The day was going by smoothly for the most part , as most of the people at Bella Vida had been tourists, taking their time to strike up a conversation with the smiley barista whenever they needed recommendations of things to check out around town.

Taking the time to clean up her counter before taking her attention back on the following person in line, her eyebrows nonetheless furrowed upon hearing their words. "That is indeed myself, and who's asking?"

The last of her words rolled off her tongue before finally gazing up from her previous task and meeting the hazel eyes looking straight into her own. It only took seconds for the brunette to recognize the man she had fancied for the longest part of her childhood spent at Cape May.

"oh my god, Bexley !" her arms loosely reached to wrap around his broad shoulders, pulling him in a brief embrace. "What a blast from the past...How have you been? I mean, do you have time for a chat? I could get you your drink and take my break right now? "

"Thanks," he said as he took a bite of the mac and cheese, one of Luca's specialties. He always enjoyed the food at The Boiler Room, and hanging out with his friends was always a plus of working there as well. Watching Abigail recount her story about earlier in the day, he couldn't help but chuckle. "I'm sorry Abs," he said and patted her hand across the bar. "Though it does sound like it was funny and I'm sure it wasn't that bad," he said, trying to stifle laughter, picturing the middle aged women and men alike who probably looked horrified and embarrassed, there were plenty of folks like that in this town. Blushing a bit about his tan line, he shrugged, "I probably should, wanna join? That is if you're not busy at the cafe." He asked and looked across her at the bar.

A soft smile stretched over her delicate features upon watching the bartender start to feast on the food her own cousin had prepared, her heart swelling with pride while also being glad she was able to help out a friend. The following gentle pat on Abigail's head earned the man a faint chuckle, soon delving back into the delicious spread of food and barely missing the sight of Jimmy's blushing cheeks. "Me?" Abi pointed to her visage. "I mean, sure...But I'm not sure I'm the best company to have at the beach. I'm terrified of big bodies of water. -- you might want to invite someone else, honestly"

There sure was a lot of aggressive commotion coming from the other side of the door and he sure as hell didn't expect it to come from a small girl. Blake stared at Abigail and gave her a couple of blinks before his eyes filled with amusement. He gripped her wrist lightly and pulled it off his chest, dropping her limb without a care. His lips curved up into a knowing smirk as he felt the need to correct her. ❝ It's MR. Blake WEEDHEAD Carter, Miss. Get it right. ❞ The flow in which Blake responded was almost too fluent and organic, like the pair was immediately falling back into their bickering back and forth banter within a matter of seconds compared to the years. She looked different sure, but Abigail had a specifc energy and look that no one could mimic. You know Abigail when you see her. Pulling himself from his thoughts, he looked between her and the hallways exit into the kitchen, ❝ You gonna let me through or what, dumbo? ❞ Blake pushed easily passed her, his shoulder bumping purposefully as he made his way to the kitchen like he paid the bills.

Her smile immediately flattened upon coming to realization that the man had not changed at all after all those years. Blake was just as arrogant and overbearing as ever, her eyes looking him up and down in disdain as he stood in the middle of her flat in nothing else but HER towel he must have snatched from the bathroom rack.

"God you're so insufferable" Abigail muttered under her breath as the man made it past her, the nickname triggering her annoyance furthermore. "What the heck are you still doing here even, you asshat? Get dressed and get the hell out of my apartment, your girl isn't even here anymore! --Gosh, so much for a relaxing day off."

''i know its a shit idea, believe me i don't wanna.. wanna dress up for this thing myself, but i'm practically being forced to go because they dropped it on us last second it was mandatory.'' a hand running along his face as he looks down in thought for a moment, trying to think of what else he could potentially offer. ''i'll buy dinner afterwards? my treat?''

Squinting her eyes at him for a moment, she drummed her fingers against the table before fully coming to a stop, a mischievous smile playing on the corner of her lips. "Let's say movie night and some Chinese food, how does that sound as a payment for my company?" she teased playfully before giving KJ a slight nudge. "What did you say the event was again?"

Watching her as she spoke he got butterflies in his stomach as he always did around her. "Oh absolutely, who else knows how to make my coffee with the perfect amount of mocha?" He put his lips together and kissed his fingers a la chef's kiss. He watched her open her food and already knew it was going to be good, Luca always made the best bar food around Cape May. He took her up on the offer of the onion ring, he hadn't eaten since way before his shift and he was getting hungry, though he didn't have the time to grab his own meal. "Aw shit, though that is a good one, I'll have to remember that one," he teased and got a glass from behind the counter and placed it in front of her. "I'm doing pretty good, thankfully it's been a nice steady shift. But I do wish I could get outta here and go to the beach. Gotta work on my tan ya know!?" He laughed and showed off a slight farmers tan.

Playfully dusting her shoulder, Abigail muttered a small thank you before taking a sip from her drink. "Oh you know, I'm just skilled like that" she teased, watching as Jimmy soon took the fork from her hand and indulged in having a taste of her food. She knew just how long the bartender's shifts could get and if she could help out by having him snack on her dinner, she'd happily share with him. "I hate to say it but..you're right, it was a funny one. I just wished I didn't end up shouting it through the whole cafe, you know? You should have seen people's faces when I did..." The image of horrified middle-aged women was still engraved in Abigail's mind, and frankly haunting her as well. Looking up from her food after taking a bite from the delicious mac & cheese, the woman had to cover her mouth as a laughter rolled off her tongue at the sight of James' tan line. "oh god -- I mean hey, you could maybe spend a day at the beach this week ! Heard the weather should be perfect for that, actually"

"Come on Abi, please? I really don't want to go this party alone. I'll look totally lame showing up alone." Jimmy said, almost pleading. He was invited to a wedding of his old college roommates who lived in town. He batted his eyes and pouted his life, giving up his best puppy dog eyes while he looked at Abi. "I'll owe you one I promise!" He said and was practically begging her to join him.

"I just know I'm gonna regret this one..." Abigail pinched the bridge of her nose before exhaling deeply, giving Jimmy a simple nod to his pleading. "Fine I'll come -- you're lucky you're cute when you make those faces" she chuckled before leaning over the table they shared. "So, when is it? Who's wedding is it even? and most importantly, yes you owe me big time !"

it was a nice day so levi figured it would be a good idea to head to the beach before the cooler seasons arrived. eating bits of his snack he looked to the other and smiled, "alright i got the sandwiches made and i have some chips, if you want to add anything else into the bag now's your chance. i have drinks in the cooler from sodas, to juice, to some alcoholic beverages for later if anything, so if you also want to add more again now's your chance. i need to stop by the gas station to get some ice for the cooler though but we should be about ready to go."

Since Abigail had moved to Cape May, she rarely had the occasion to make it down to the beach. Between settling in her new apartment, her new job and the drama classes she had started teaching, she barely had the time to think about herself. Thankfully, Levi seemed to notice such a fact and make it his mission to make his barista friend enjoy what the town had to offer. "Maybe we could pick up something sweet? cookies or ice cream we could keep in the cooler? What do you think?" the brunette turned around to face the taller man, flashing a soft smile in his direction. "Also...I don't think I'll ever say it enough but thank you for all of this. It's really appreciated Levi.."

Blake didn't want to go out tonight but, his friends begged him to, saying they never got to see him much with how busy his schedule has been. He reluctantly obliged but, ended up being the only person out of the group who wasn't publicly eating tongue with their partner. He took the opportunity to go to the bar counter and order some food, drooling honey all over the biscuits when he noticed a voice speak up from his current group. ❝ Oh this? It's fucking good.. keep doing what you're doing though-- ❞ Stabbing his fork into his French toast, he was beginning to notice an interested person in his conversation, sitting next to him. ❝ You want some or something? ❞

It was starting to get late and while most of her friends had left the bar already (or decided to make it to the dance floor), Abigail remained seated at a booth adjacent to a group, playing absentmindedly with her coaster until catching the sound of someone's voice that seemed oh too familiar. "oh.my.god" she sighed, turning around only to find Blake inhaling his french toast. "Can I ever go anywhere and not have you there? Jesus.."

Since finding out just how fond of each other's company her cousin Luca and Blake had been, it seemed like she couldn't go a day without running into her middle school nightmare. "Also no, I do not want any. Plus --you got honey dripping on your shirt, you klutz..I don't know how Stacey puts up with you..."

ivy had been invited to this awards night in new york city. she had been asked to present one of the awards. not sure why they asked her but they did. the girl loved dressing up and she thought it would be even better with abigail coming along. "of course i'm serious. this face does not joke" ivy said trying to stay serious before cracking a smile. "but seriously abs, come with me. it will be super fun and i need your support while i present this award. gods knows why they asked me to present"

It had been a few months since Abigail made it back to New York and the Italian didn't know how ready she was to step back in the big apple. She had found such peace in Cape May, though a part of her felt terrible about leaving her friend to go off and present the award on her own. "I mean....fine fine I'll come" she sighed, giving in upon witnessing Ivy's insistence. "What am I even going to wear on such short notice? oh here we go -- I'm panicking"

Jimmy was just finishing up with a patron when he heard a familiar voice from the other side of the bar. He whipped around and his face lit up, "Hey you, well I might be your favorite bartender but you're definitely my favorite barista," he said with a chuckle as he leaned his elbows on the bar surface in front of him. "Luca left you some some delicious smelling onion rings, his famous fried chicken sandwich, and I think some mac and cheese" he said as he held up the plastic bag that was holding up the meal he was told to keep an eye on behind the bar. "I was getting hungry from the smell of it." He replied as he placed the package in front of her. "How was your day?"

Greeting a couple of the staff she was familiar with on her way to the bar, Abigail flashed Jimmy a dazzling smile, glad to finally be able to let loose and enjoy her free time with what she considered to be one of her closest friends. 'I better be your favourite barista ! Or else it's called betrayal' she chuckled, opening her takeout box prepared with care by her cousin and immediately taking in the delicious aromas from the food. Snatching a fork from a nearing table, Abigail offered Jimmy an onion ring, knowing well enough that he had probably forgotten to eat before the beginning of his shift. 'My day was good until an idiot came in and gave a fake name to get called out for his drink. Try screaming Yassine Maboobs in a café during rush hour... I was mortified once I realized ! -- But anyways what about you? How's your shift going so far?'

Abigail considered herself to be a homebody, though that didn't keep her from sometimes giving in to her close co-workers' requests and hitting up the newly opened nightclub; Seventh Heaven. Tonight was one of those instances, the brunette's body clad in a short and rather revealing outfit that left little to the imagination.

After several hours spent downing endless vodka red bulls and dancing to their favourite tunes, the group finally decided to part ways and head home, Abi opting for dropping by the gas station first as to grab a snack her inebriated self had been craving.

Thankfully, Luca's home was only a few blocks away and it didn't take long for the woman to reach his front porch, raising her fist to the wooden door while she struggled to her bag of sweets to open.

'Lulu, per favore...' Abigail sighed, her slurred words coming out into a soft whine. 'See, if you don't open the door and help me out with those skittles, I might just cry!'

seeing her again was like being hit by a metaphorical truck; heart lurching in their chest and breath catching in their throat. they think that they're in the clear, a crate of stacked fruit hiding their face at the farmers market. it gives them a chance to spy, to linger over her features as the sun hits her just right, blinding to riley as it silhouettes her soft frame. that's what riley's always associate with abi; softness, friendship, comfort. and for a moment - home.

abi used to be what riley would consider their best friend - the singular one they've ever had. to see her now was a like a shot to the gut; breathless, they pondered on what they should do now that they were paces away from the woman. riley highly doubted that abi would want to see them again after riley had left so abruptly with no word - ghosting her. feeling sick to their stomach, they leaned over the crate of apples, knocking several from their pedestals and they watched - horrified and stricken - as that fruit just bounced harmlessly over to abi until it landed at her feet. @abipostsstuff

Her phone buzzed in her pocket upon walking out of her workplace, as if on cue; Abigail's roommate, Stacey, was notifying her that they were slowly running out of fruits back at the apartment and asked if the brunette could possibly drop by the farmer's market on her way back.

Perusing through the colourful stalls, the barista first started by picking up some blueberries. They weren't particularly her favourites, but a sense of nostalgia overcame her whenever she'd purchase some. It reminded her the endless nights she'd spend making Riley their favourite muffin recipe, especially during finals season.

Though a loud noise was quick to make the woman snap back to reality, watching as the apples rolled down all the way to her feet. Nothing could have prepared her to what came next, Abi's eyes landing on a familiar fame she thought long gone.

'You gotta be kidding me...' she muttered under her breath, quickly managing to put down the case of berries she previously held, ready to run the other way from this blast from the past.
