Two exquisite and experienced performing artists, one more female than the other, ride the waves of tension, release and euphoria inherent in their methods to approach sound, space, time and physicality. What is the sexual gaze, the analytical gaze, the gaze of love in these times of impending ecological disaster? Or do we just want to have a good time?
Dani Brown (1980) was born and raised in Rochester, NY, USA. After various, shall we say, cultural exchanges Dani completed her Bachelor of Dance, specialization Dance Maker at the ArtEZ, College of Art in Arnhem, NL. Today she calls Berlin home and works internationally as choreographer, performer, researcher, and teacher.
Dani’s work and Collaborations have toured internationally (Singapore, Mozambique, Spain, Bulgaria, Norway, Portugal, Ireland).
Gaël Cleinow is a visual and sound philosopher born in Brussels, Belgium, July 6th, 1979. After more than 15 years of research through the visual arts, Gaël Cleinow instigated several artistic research structures in his hometown. He opened three temporary spaces in Brussels in the period btw. 2004-2009 dedicated to plastic and scenic research; Rebirth ProductionGallery Obsessions Intimes, and Buzzer. In Brussels he is known for his provocative action and radical vision of art and life.
Five years ago Gaël was invited to the “The Hermetical School” a temporary and secret research facillity organized by Romeo Castelluci. There he undertook a research into sound, space, and time, riding the present moment through the creative act. He is in constant research of new articulation, manipulation and interaction between objects with the body. Today he creates independent sound structures in performative contexts.
Gaël happily calls Berlin home, where he spends a lot of his time researching permanent drawing on skin.
