In 2000 George Hearn reprised his Sweeney Todd role for the first time in 20 years at "Sweeney In Concert".
George stepped in at the last minute: the concert was originally supposed to star Bryn Terfel as Sweeney. But days before the concert the singer hurt his back and couldn't make it.
George said, "Bryn Terfel... is probably the greatest baritone alive now. My agent said, 'you know he's hurt his back and he may not come in to do this, so maybe you should be ready'..."
"I said, 'that's the last thing in the world I would do, is replace the best baritone living with a broadway...I'd say 'hack', but a broadway actor coming into it, and everybody's bought tickets...to hear him with Patti, and...I said I'm not gonna do it in a million years! ... Then they asked me and I did it".
Despite his hesitation, George was amazing. Outshining even his own earlier performances. His "Epiphany" might be the best ever recorded.
This was the first Sweeney Todd I ever saw, and it's still my favourite. George Hearn was *chef's kiss*.
Started Moving Pictures, by Terry Pratchett tonight. I love how he keeps on finding new ways to describe Great A’Tuin, even though this is the 10th Discworld novel already.
Moving Pictures was "The One" for me. The one that made me go, "Oh yes, THIS is for me!" My older sister loved Pratchett and she told me to start with The Colour of Magic because it's first, and she legitimately loved it. I, however, did not. I could see what it was trying to do, but it wasn't working for me. Disappointed, I decided that maybe PTerry just wasn't for me. But something made me pick up Moving Pictures. Maybe because it was about movies? Anyway, it was the catalyst to becoming a lifelong Pratchett fan, so I'll always have a special place for it in my heart.

What I love the most is when a story is told and there aren't any sequels, the story is over, but there are other stories set in the same world which occasionally mention the characters from the first story like oh! They're happy! They're living quiet unassuming lives!!! They have no more story to tell except the story of living peacefully!
