I hate Shane so much đĄhe doesn't deserve Savannah at all! Is that his first time hitting her? I'm glad she left but I really hope she leaves for good. Rashad needs to like threaten that he'll call the police or something if she tries to go back
This is the first time he hit her, the next chapter will be a flashback so you'll learn more about their relationship then.
This is really good! You're doing a great job. She's a upcoming lawyer and her man is a drug dealer she gotta cut him loose.
Right đ hopefully she'll come to her senses soon. Thanks love âșïžâșïž
Chp.2
âAnd we lie together, cry together. I swear to God I hope we fuckinâ die together. And Iâll be loving you forever âcause youâre all that I need to get by.â
Sitting up chatting with Rashad about life and other things of mutual substance left Savannah exhausted the following morning. She barely got through work, drinking almost five cups of the strongest coffee she could find in her office. She was the youngest, African American, female law associate at Smith & Gregor LLC. She took pride in her title because she worked her ass off to get there.
The case she had been working on was simple, but tedious and now she was ready to hang it up for the day. She smoothed her hands down her black Hermes Suede and Lambskin leather paneled skirt as she stood from her desk chair. She took off her crÚme Tom Ford embellished patent leather pumps stuffing them into her bag and sliding her feet into her moccasins shortly after. Throwing the black Alexander Wang Rockie duffel bag over her shoulder and grabbing her black Moncler Moka coat draping it over her arm, she turned the light off in her office and shut the door behind her.
âIâm leaving Scott,â she said walking past his office and tapping his door lightly. He looked up at her from over top of his glasses and smirked, âthe queen is leaving the building.â They shared a chuckle and he continued typing on his computer. âI have another case for you tomorrow. Itâs an easy win.â She rolled her eyes playfully and spoke louder while walking away, âthen why donât you take it.â Opening the main office door and laughing louder when he responded, âMy husband would kill me.â Scott and Gregor Smith were a married couple, and the only homosexual law firm in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. They might have been fruits but they knew there shit, reasons why they were one of the top firms in the area.
She dragged her feet along the marble floors in the hallway before reaching the elevator and pressing the down button. Her phone buzzed and she looked at the name and sighed. Answering it and stepping onto the elevator as the doors slid open. She leaned her back against the wall and waited for him to speak.
âAre you ok baby girl?â She pressed the button for the lobby and sighed, âIâm fine.â There was a long pause between the two of them before he spoke. âHow was work today?â Staring at herself in the elevator mirror made her question why she answered in the first place. âIt was fine.â She didnât want to see him let alone talk to him. But something wouldnât let her hang up the phone. âAre you coming home?â Rolling her eyes and shaking her head, the doors opened and she made her way towards the garage. âFor what? Didnât you say you were done with me?â Pulling her coat closer to her body and searching for her car, she finally found it and pressed the unlock button twice to put everything in her back seat. He kissed his teeth on the other end, while she sat in her driverâs seat and started it up letting the heat circulate throughout it. âCome on Savannah stop bullshittin, just come home I got something for you.â She didnât care what he had for her to be honest. âI miss you,â his end went silent before he spoke again, âyou donât miss me?â She let out a frustrated breath and the tears built up in her eyes again. She did, but she didnât want to. âJust please come home.â She hung up the phone and put her car in reverse to exit the garage.
Driving to no specific destination she rolled her eyes when she realized where she had taken herself. She put the code in reluctantly, parked in her assigned parking space, turned her car off and grabbed her purse. She went through the back stairwell and took them all the way up to the fourth floor mentally preparing herself for whatever she was walking into. Putting the key in the lock and twisting the knob at the same time, she opened the door and was immediately irritated when the chain lock was still on. She opened and slammed the door a few times making each one louder than the previous. âAre you fucking kidding me Shane?!?!â He ran towards the door and shut it letting the chain free, before he had a chance to move away from the door she pushed it open again forcefully and he stumbled back a little. âDamn boo,â he said chuckling a little, she rolled her eyes walking past him while he stretched his arm out for a hug and B-lined straight to the bedroom. She stripped out of her work clothes and put on a simple PINK Victoriaâs Secret sweat suit. âSooooo you just gonna ignore me?â he asked coming into the room and sitting on the bed, he lit a blunt that he had already rolled and she shrugged her shoulders.
Pulling a scrunchie off of her wrist, she put her hair up into a high messy ponytail and stood across from him with her arms folded. âYouâve been here all day?â her tone was harsh and distant, he jerked his neck back at her tone but shook it off and looked up at her, blunt in one hand, lighter in the other. âWhere else was I going?â He lit the blunt and took a long pull filling his lungs with the drug and exhaling through his nose. âWell shit Shane I donât know maybe to get a damn job, or hey maybe even a car.â
She was beyond irritated and her sarcastic tone made that clear. He kissed his teeth passing her the blunt, âummm in case you havenât noticed I have a job,â he pointed to the safe in the corner of the closet. Savannah snatched the blunt from him going into the kitchen. âSelling drugs is not a job Shane.â He twisted his face following behind her, âsince when wasnât it? It was a job when you ainât have one and had to get your school shit paid. It was a job when you needed money for the rent, or when your birthday came up and I sent you on that trip. It was a job then.â She raised her eyebrows and took four long pulls of the blunt before putting it in the ash tray for him to get himself. âThat was two years ago Shane!â She was tired of hearing the same points thrown in her face every time they talked about him getting a job. âYou know what I donât even feel like arguing with you Savannah, I missed you man. Iâm sorry about the way I was acting yesterday, all that shit just threw me off.â
He went into the bedroom and came out with a small gift bag. Looking at him and then at the bag. âI donât want that,â he rolled his head back irritated with her and handed it to her anyway. âMannnn I got the shit for you so take it.â She hesitated; taking this gift would be yet another thing he had to throw in her face the next time they argued. She grabbed the bag and opened it up; she smiled a little when she saw the smaller box and opened it. The diamond steel Fendi watch she had had her eye on for a little while now rested in the little blue velvet box. âYou like it?â he asked doing a goofy little dance in her direction. She laughed a little and nodded her head, âalright, you tight or whatever.â She mocked the city girl accent and put the watch back in the bag.
He walked up to her and passed her the blunt before wrapping his arms around her tiny frame. âIâm so sorry about everything baby girl.â Nodding her head and pulling from the blunt making her high elevate with each puff. She put the roach in the ash tray and wrapped her arms around his lower back. âYou gotta chill out Shane. I canât keep arguing with you like this, youâre stressing me out over nothing.â She felt the tears form in the corners of her eyes, âyou make me cry every day, youâre so mean to me, and at this point Iâm beginning to be ok with being without you.â She pulled back from his embrace and wiped her tears lightly to avoid ruining her make up. âYouâre so disrespectful Shane. You call me out of my name, you disrespect me to your friends, and you put your hands on me. Why should I put up with that?â he walked closer to her almost afraid to touch her. âIâm sorry baby girl I really am. I hate seeing you cry and itâs never my intention to make you,â she shook her head in disbelief. âBut you do! Every fuckinâ day. I canât deal with the stress anymore, Iâve lost fifteen pounds in the past five weeks âcause youâve been driving me crazy.â She turned toward the pantry and grabbed the Tylenol feeling a migraine form at her temples. âI canât sleep, I canât eat, I canât even concentrate at work âcause youâre blowing my phone up about some bullshit. And every single time, what do I do huh?â He watched her cry and yell at him, he could see the hurt, the frustration, and anger in her heart. âI come right back to your dumb ass, thatâs what I do.â She said poking him in his chest with each word.
Reaching in the fridge she grabbed a bottle of water, popped both pills into her mouth and washed them down. She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose massaging it lightly, âI canât come back to you anymore Shane. The next time we argue I gotta go, for real this time.â That line was tired and overused, she had said that so many times, what made now any different. He dropped his head, he couldnât even look at her anymore, he felt like this time she actually meant it. âImma get my shit together Savannah. I promise.â She nodded her head and stared at her feet; walking towards her he picked her head up with his middle finger and kissed her lips lightly. Kissing her caused more tears to fall because she felt that spark; the one she felt when they first met, when she was eighteen. Now five years later she regrets that day.
The kiss grew deeper and he lifted her up onto the marble counter top. She wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck letting him slip his tongue into her mouth. She moaned softly at his gentle finger tips tracing the arch in her back, the same finger tips that were pulling her around like a rag doll less than twenty-four hours ago. Her emotions were all over the place, she was vulnerable right now and he knew it. He took advantage of it every single time. Grabbing her legs and holding them around his waist, he walked her down the hall laying her on the bed gently. Leaning her head back onto the pillow she felt a few tears fall into her ears. He pulled her pants off and crawled on top of her. He kissed her forehead, then her nose, next her lips; he ran his tongue from her earlobe to her neck and planted a few kisses there as well. She moaned lightly, that was her spot. Her back arched automatically and he lifted her sweatshirt up. Placing tiny sweet kisses all over her chest and making tiny circles with his tongue, he was so gentle and so sweet. This was who she fell in love with.
He came face to face with her hot, pink center and placed kisses on her thighs. Biting them lightly she jumped a little, âstop biting me. I donât like that shit.â She leaned her back into its original position and curled her toes when she felt his tongue on her clit; it sent a wave straight up her spine. âShit!â she screamed out lightly, he flicked his tongue back and forth rapidly causing her body to shake. Slurping up her juices, and spelling out the alphabet with his tongue made a wave of ecstasy wash over her. Eating pussy had always been his specialty, his sex game never lacked. What they said about âainât shit niggasâ having the best dick was far from a lie. âShit baby, right there!â She said unsure of whether she wanted to sit up and watch or lean back and enjoy.
He feasted on her like he was a lion and she was his prey.  He wanted to make sure she felt how sorry he was; he wanted her to forget everything that had been going on the last few days. Sticking his tongue deeper into her and gripping her ass he pulled her closer, âuh uh donât run baby girl.â She placed her hands on the back of his head and shouted in pleasure. He used his fingers to play with her clit while his tongue maneuvered its way in and out of her, âShit Iâm about to cum.â She threw her head back as he sped up his hand movements; clenching her jaw as tight as she could before letting out a satisfied scream. Her juices flowed freely from her body as he continued to play with her clit. Biting down on his lip and he smirked. âYou see that shit!â he said proudly not taking his hand from its position, âI just made you squirt. Thatâs my pussy!â he said aggressively. âTell me itâs mine!â he said continuing to play with her, âItâs yours!â She screamed out of breath and weak. âItâs mine what?â he removed his hand and slid his Moschino grey tape logo joggers and Ralph Lauren boxer briefs off. His dick sat at full attention as he stared at her trying to catch her breath. âItâs yours daddy.â She finally said rubbing her hands across her face.
He positioned himself right back between her legs, licking his four fingers he wet the tip of his member and slid it into her slowly. Arching her back in pleasure, she immediately clawed her nails into his back. âFuckkkkk,â he hissed in pleasure as he stroked her slowly. She moaned and bit her lip enjoying the moment. âThis my pussy right?â He asked in a demanding tone while holding one of her legs over his shoulder to get a better angle. âYes daddy,â she shut her eyes tighter as he began to pump in and out of her faster. âThatâs right you donât give my pussy to nobody.â He gripped at her thighs and used his free hand for support as he drove himself deeper into her. She was sure her screams could be heard throughout the apartment but she didnât care and neither did he. Pushing himself deeper into her each time; he bit his lip focusing on his movements. âShit girl, that shit feel good.â He threw his head back taking in the moment and shutting his eyes. âFuck, Iâm boutta cum.â He pumped into her faster; she screamed louder and dug her nails deeper into his back. âShit!â he screamed and released himself inside of her. He fell on top of her gently but breathed heavily. She rubbed his back gently, the two of them catching their breath together, their heart beats in sync with one another. She attempted to sit up as a sign for him to get off of her and when he did his soft member slipped out of her leaving a wet spot on her comforter.
Walking towards the bathroom her mind was blank. It always was after they had sex, he didnât make love to her anymore he just fucked her. He made her feel like she was just some pussy he couldnât give up, and felt that way every single time. She started the shower up and wrapped her messy ponytail into a bun giving herself a once over in the mirror and dropped her head. He killed her self-esteem a little more every time they had sex. Making sure the water was the right temperature she stuck her hand in followed by the rest of her. A sense of calm washed over her with each drop of water that hit her skin, she peeked out at him and noticed he was rolling up another blunt, she felt the energy in the room shift but she couldnât tell if it was negative or positive. She ignored it and enjoyed her shower. Feeling the combination of his and her juices running down her leg made her submerge herself deeper into the water.
She wasnât on birth control but they never used condoms, and he never pulled out. She wasnât worried; he smoked so much weed that his sperm count was almost nonexistent. She washed herself fairly quickly but stayed in the comfort of the water not wanting to be around him just yet, or at least not until she caught the vibe. She let a few thoughts cross her mind before finally deciding to turn the shower off. The last thing she needed was to be stuck in her head for the rest of the day. She grabbed her towel and wrapped it around her body, wiping her feet off on the rug. Getting the lotion and deodorant, she made her way back to the room and sat on the bed. He passed her the blunt while he watched her dry her hand off on the towel and take it from him. He looked away from her direction after she took the rolled paper from between his two fingers, both of them sitting with their backs to each other. The vibe was still off to her. He put his head in his hands and rubbed them down his face while letting out a deep sigh.
âWhatâs the problem?â he always beat around the bush and she was tired of it he either needed to speak his mind up front or leave it be. She passed the blunt back to him and pumped some of the lotion into her hands, she leaned forward and applied it to her legs. He took two deep pulls of the blunt and let the smoke clear his lungs, he took a deep breath and shook his head. âYou did fuck that nigga Savannah,â she stopped what she was doing and shook her head. Chuckling in disbelief she got up and walked towards her drawer to immediately put some clothes on. âUn-fucking-believable,â was all she said while she slipped into a pair of boy shorts. âYou donât have to lie bruh, that shit feel different. I can tell,â he said rolling his eyes and standing up from off of the bed.
She didnât even want to say anything, she just continued to get dressed wanting to get out of there before he got violent. âExactly, thatâs why you quiet.â she put a bra on and the same sweat suit that she had just taken off. Every time she moved he was right behind her. She whipped herself around quickly causing him to bump into her, âWHAT?!â She shouted, he jerked his neck back and laughed a little, âso wassup? You fucked that nigga?â She folded her arms across her chest and shook her head with a clear attitude. âNO! What the fuck do I really look like having sex with one nigga and turning around to fuck another one? Thatâs some hoe ass shit!â She yelled and brushed her hair into a high ponytail and braiding it down. âI wouldnât put it past you,â she turned around and pushed him into the door with all the strength she could find and walked out of the bathroom. âNigga you got me fucked up!â she grabbed her purse, âdonât put your fuckinâ hands on me Savannah.â He spoke through clenched teeth, and balled both of his fists following behind her.
She walked into the kitchen and looked around for her keys. He came around the corner and snatched her purse from her, âThe fuck you think you going?â He held his arm out to block her from getting her purse as she reached for it. âGive me my purse Shane!â He pushed her back and she lunged for it again, âyou going back to see that nigga and fuck him again?â She went to grab for the purse again before he pushed her back making her fall into the stove, he came over top of her and she got defensive and scared. She began to kick and punch at him not sure what he was going to do while he hovered over top of her. âStop fuckinâ hitting me young!â He stayed over top of her. More tears fell clouding her view and the anger in her started to rise. âGet off of me!â She shouted.  She wouldnât stop kicking and punching at him at least not until he got from on top of her, âget off of me!â she shouted again but none of her blows were connecting and her requests went unnoticed. âI said stop hitting me!â He swung his fist at her and she felt it connect with her left cheek. She screamed in pain, and attempted to crawl backwards around the island on the kitchen floor. âShit,â he dropped the purse and bent down trying to console her, âIâm sorry Savannah I didnât mean to hit you.â Terrified, she continued to crawl away from him. She used the island counter to help her get to her feet.  Grabbing her purse, and stuffing her keys and phone inside of it she went to leave out of the apartment. Her vision was blurry from her tears, her ear was ringing, and her head was pounding like nothing sheâd ever felt. He grabbed her arms gently, âI didnât mean to Sav. Please, Iâm sorry.â
âGET OUT OF MY WAY SHANE!â She tried her best to get around him but he wouldnât let her. âMOVE!â there was no way around him, âcome on baby please donât leave Iâm sorry. I didnât mean to hit you.â He continued to hold her arms and was slightly yelling in her face, frustrated with her but more so with himself. âJUST MOVE SHANE!â She backed him up into a wall and he let go of her. She ran for the front door and unlocked it finally getting out of it. He followed after her, âSavannah please!â he was calling out for her while she ran down the hall, she didnât say anything nor did she look back. She tried her best to focus on the ground to see where she was going while the neighbors started to peek out of their doors to see what all the commotion was, when they heard all the noise.
She kept her head low, and focused on her destination. She finally made it to the stairwell; she looked back and saw he was stuck behind the neighbors who had blocked him from running after her. She ran down the stairs as fast as she could and got to the garage. Practically sprinting to her car, she hit the button on the driverâs side door handle to unlock it. She heard her phone vibrate and knew immediately who it was, she pulled it out of her purse and cut it off. Wiping her face she took a few deep breaths to try to calm herself down as best as she could, but she didnât wait too long because heâd be down in the garage shortly if she stalled.  She started it up and made her way to the familiar destination.
The drive was difficult; she could barely see, her face was throbbing, and the situation replayed itself over and over in her head making her more emotional each time. She pulled into the driveway crooked, and shut the car off. Leaving her purse behind not bothering to lock the doors, she banged on the door a few times knowing her presence wasnât expected. She didnât call before she showed up, she didnât even know if he was there but she hoped he was. She banged again. A few moments later she heard the locks click she kept her head down until he opened the door. âSav-,â as soon as she heard his voice she looked up and he jerked his neck back and twisted his face. âThat nigga hit you savannah?!â he grabbed her gently pulling her into his home and holding her tightly. He rubbed her head gently in the direction of her ponytail. He didnât want to let her go, he felt like he was to blame. He was supposed to protect her from things like this and he felt like he failed. He rocked her back and forth rubbing her back, she sobbed into his shoulder not wanting him to ever let her go. âItâs ok baby girl. I got you now.â
He shut the door locking it behind them; he held her hand and walked her towards the living room. âGo sit down,â he said pointing to the couch. She did as she was told and sat in the corner of the couch. Kicking her shoes off, she bought her knees into her chest and wiped the tears from her face. She hissed in pain when she touched her left check and felt the slight knot that had begun to form.
He slid on his socks across the kitchen floor and into the living room with a baggie full of ice cubes. Sitting down next to her he laid her head in his lap and gently held the ice pack on her face to help reduce the swelling and making sure that it wouldnât create a nasty bruise in the morning. Undoing her braid and taking her ponytail out, he ran his fingers through her hair as they sat in silence, not an awkward one; a comfortable one. One that they both needed. She sniffled every now and again, wiping her face after each one and adjusting herself a little. He didnât want to make her talk, and he wouldnât. He knew she had a lot on her mind right now and whenever she was ready she would let him in.
Stroking through her hair gently, his heart broke for her; such a beautiful individual that was mentally broken. He knew her before Shane, and he knew when she finally decided to leave him he would still be there for her afterwards. Except this time around it would be him showing her how she should be treated.  He just didnât know when that time would come, it had been five long years and here he was still waiting while she was still going through the same things. Maybe this was what she wanted; maybe this was the type of relationship that satisfied her. He shook those thoughts as quickly as they entered his mind, nah that wasnât it. She just fell in love with who he used to be, and when he turned into who he is now she wanted to believe that this was a phase that he would grow out of. But in reality this was who he was and the man that she met was the one pretending to be something he wasnât.
Rashad leaned his head back and thought back to when she first started talking about him. He was always buying her things, taking her on trips, doing whatever she needed. He supported her, genuinely cared about her, and was the man that she actually needed. He wouldnât lie he was jealous of their relationship at first, it was supposed to be him. But Rashad wasnât ready for that type of commitment and neither was she, she was so young. That was how their relationship shattered, they were moving too fast. The more time she and Shane had spent together the deeper she fell, until he showed his true colors.
But by then he had run everybody out of her life so that she didnât have anyone to turn too but him, or at least thatâs what he made her believe. Rashad sat back and watched Shane break her slowly until she was solely dependent on him. She lost her job, she began to fall behind in school, she just wanted to be about Shane all day, because he had fed her the bullshit that that was all she needed to worry about; being his woman. She would talk about him like he was God, and he was, he was her God.
He heard light snores coming from her lips and looked down at her smirking a little. He lifted her head up lightly and laid it back down gently making sure that he didnât wake her. Walking towards an antique chest he had in the corner of the living room, he opened the top and grabbed a blanket, laying it over her. He sat on the couch opposite of the one she laid on and turned the TV on. He didnât really care to watch anything but he wasnât letting her leave his sight. Looking over at the clock he took note of the time, 9:38pm. He made a promise to himself while he watched her sleep peacefully. âI swear I will not let him or anyone else hurt you baby girl, thatâs on everything.â He watched her for a little while longer before he ended up falling asleep himself.  Â
Savannah's Condominium
I really like this so far! I'm definitely looking forward to the next chapter â€
Thank you love!! It's coming soon
chp. 1
âyouâre so vain you probably think this song is about you.â
The rain hit the windshield hard as Savannah looked out of the passenger window. She quickly wiped a tear from her eye and sniffled a little. Another argument with Shane. Rashad didnât say much of anything, he let her take her time, he was used to this. He had become her shoulder to cry on, and had been that for the past 5 years.
âYou gotta let him go Sav,â he sighed as he turned the heat up a little bit. He hated seeing her like this and tried to show her the grass was greener on the other side but Shane had a crazy hold on her heart. She looked over at him and nodded her head not having anything to say.
She was out of words. âI know. I am.â He shook his head not believing anything she said. She always talked about how she was leaving but the minute he called with a good enough apology she ran right back. He started his car up and drover her back to her apartment in the heart of Washington D.C. âDonât say that shit and you donât mean it. You can do so much better than him Sav. Heâs literally not shit.â His words were scripted at this point, he told her the same thing every few weeks, months if she was doing everything he told her too. âLook at you Savannah, you have a good paying job, you just got this new place, your vlogs are starting to take off. And what is he doing?â He said looking over at her while he approached the red light, âHe doesnât have a car, he doesnât have a job, shit he barely has a high school education. What do you even see in this nigga?â He was getting frustrated even talking about their situation.
He let out a  frustrated breath and pulled over in front of her place. âLook, call me if you need me alright. Leave that nigga alone Sav, for real this time.â She looked over at him and could see the frustration in his eyes. She wiped another tear and opened the door, sticking her umbrella out of the top and opening it up. She nodded her head and hugged him with her free arm. He knew he wouldnât get much talking out of her, he never did. He sighed and spoke again, âcall me later ok? Iâll cook something, we can vibe.â She smiled a little and nodded her head again, it seemed like that was all she did when she was with him. âIâd like that,â was all she said before she got out and shut the door behind herself. She stood on the sidewalk and watched him drive off until his car disappeared down the street.
She walked through the front doors of her apartment building, âHello Ms. Duvernay, how are you today?â She smiled at Todd, her concierge and leaned against the wall while opening her mailbox, âIâve had better days,â he pouted his bottom lip and grabbed a package from underneath his desk. âMaybe this can brighten you up.â He sat the package on the counter and her smile got wider, looking at the box. She had ordered her pink FENTYXPUMAs two weeks ago and they were finally here. She grabbed the box and smiled. âIt definitely helped, thank you Todd. Enjoy the rest of your day.â
She walked away making her way to the elevator and pressed the up button. Her phone rang and she already knew who was calling her. She sighed deeply to herself trying her hardest to not answer and walked through the elevator doors pressing the silver â4â button and waited for the doors to close and open on her floor.
She put the box under her arm and exited the elevator, walking down the hallway she rolled her eyes as she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket yet again, he had already called five times since she walked in the building. He must have seen her get out of the car, which meant he was there. Standing in front of the door she hesitated, she wasnât ready to deal with him but she didnât want to ride around in the rain all day either.
Taking a deep breath, putting the key in the lock and twisting the door knob at the same time, she walked into the dark apartment and kicked her shoes off at the door. She cut the light on and jumped back clutching her chest; there he was sitting on the counter smoking a blunt and blowing the smoke in the air. âYou scared the shit out of me,â she said taking her jacket off and hanging it up in the closet by the door. âWhere you been?â he asked completely ignoring her statement, she rolled her eyes not wanting to even start anything.
âI just got off work, what are you talking about?â She looked at the time it was 5:35pm she got home at 5:40 every day so she didnât see what the issue was. âYouâre home early.â She rolled her eyes and walked to her bedroom talking under her breath, âIâm not doing this right now; I literally came in the house five minutes early.â She walked around the apartment and grabbed a duffel bag from the closet.
He hopped off the counter and came into the room behind her, âI asked you a question,â his patience was getting thin. She stopped and shook her head looking at him in disbelief. âI left work a few minutes early because of the rain, thatâs literally it. I donât know what else to tell you.â She went to her dresser and grabbed a few pair of underwear and two bras. She walked back to her closet and scanned through her clothes determining what she would wear for rest of the week.
The more she packed the more his irritation grew. He took a few pulls of his blunt and exhaled. âI saw you get out that nigga car Savannah. Donât lie to me, you was fucking that nigga?â she threw her clothes down on the bed, and growled in frustration. âNo Shane the fuck! He happened to be at the train station and offered to give me a ride home because if you didnât notice itâs raining outside and I didnât want to walk 7 blocks from the metro in the damn rain.â She stuffed the clothes in her duffel bag and went to the closet to get more. âShit! Is that ok with you? Is that cool? That I get a ride from a friend so I donât have to walk seven blocks home in the freezing rain?â She rolled her eyes and walked to the bathroom, his eyes following her every move.
âYou couldâve called an uber.â He said shrugging his shoulders, she looked at him in disbelief and threw her hands up. âWhatever bruh, Iâm not doing this with you. Weâve been arguing all damn day and Iâm tired of talking about this shit honestly.â She put her make-up bag on the side pocket of her duffel and he snatched the entire bag from the bed and threw it against the wall. âWhere the fuck you think you going?â She jumped back startled and stepped back from him a little. âIâm going to my grandmotherâs house for a few days.â She pushed some hair behind her ear and folded her arms, she was terrified right now she didnât know what he was capable of. But she wouldnât let him see that.
âYOUâRE A FUCKING LIAR SAVANNAH! YOU GOING TO THAT NIGGA HOUSE! YOU GON LET THAT NIGGA FUCK YOU?!â She backed up while he inched closer to her, eventually hitting her back on the wall, âChill out! Iâm not going to no niggas house!â He smacked the wall over her head before pacing back and forth in front of her. âYouâre a fucking liar bruh, youâre gonna go to that niggas house and let that nigga fuck you cause that what hoes do.â She let the tears fall and pushed past him. âFuck you Shane! Iâm not fucking him and I never have.â
Walking toward the corner to get her bag and he pulled her back by her arm. âWhatever bruh thatâs all you do is lie, talk to niggas, and get fucked. But I shouldâve known. All those niggas wasnât on your dick for no reason when we met.â The tears flowed freely down her face, her make-up was ruined now. She wiped her face and pushed him out of her face. âShut the fuck up Shane! Youâre not gonna sit here and disrespect me to my face in my fucking house! So you need to get the fuck out with that shit!â She zipped her bag up, threw it over her shoulder, and walked to the living room grabbing her keys and throwing them in her purse.
âIâm not going no fucking where and you not either,â he snatched the strap of the bag off her shoulder and pulled it back yanking her along with it. She yelped in pain and stumbled back a little, she could barely see her eyes were so watery. âPlease Shane, just let me leave,â her voice was caught in her throat as she wiped her face with the back of her hand, smearing her mascara in the process.
He looked at her with his face cold and hard, âyou know what Savannah go ahead.â He picked the bag up off the floor and grabbed her by her elbow pulling her to the front door. She opened her mouth to scream but nothing came out, she was sure there would be a bruise there. He opened the door and pushed her out forcefully and threw the bag at her, âhave fun with that nigga, donât worry about coming back here the locks will be changed.â He slammed the door and she heard the locks click including the chain lock at the top.
She threw the bag over her shoulder and fished her keys out of her purse before making her way towards the elevator. Pressing the silver down arrow and waiting patiently, she hoped that he wouldnât follow her. The doors opened and she got in pressing the âdoor closeâ button rapidly, âcome onâŠ.come onâ she said waiting for the doors to close. When they finally did she let out a breath that she didnât know she was holding and pressed the garage button.
Exiting the elevator and adjusting the strap on her shoulder, she pressed the trunk button on her car remote and put her bag in it shutting it shortly after. She pressed the button on the driverâs side door handle and sat down in the chair. She placed her hands on the steering wheel and broke down. She sobbed uncontrollably and wiped her face trying to get herself together.
The emotional, physical and mental abuse had been taking a serious toll on her but she couldnât get herself to leave him alone. He was all that she had. She sent both her grandmother and Rashad a text message, letting Rashad know that she was on her way, and her grandmother that sheâd be there tomorrow after work.
Pressing her foot on the brake and pushing the start button started her car right up. She mentally cursed herself out when she looked at the gas tank, she had just filled it up two days ago and now she was back on E. She didnât know where the hell he had been taking her car but it was evident that he was on moves across the entire metropolitan area. She pulled out of the parking space and grabbed her dad hat from the passenger seat and pulled it down on top of her head. She put the address that he sent to her into her navigation and began the thirty minute drive.
The entire drive was filled with incoming calls, and text messages from Shane. There were so many coming in that she was forced to listen to the radio. She finally pulled up to Rashadâs house and parked in the driveway next to his car. She got out of the car and walked to her trunk. She could care less about the rain at this point, it actually felt good on her skin as if it was washing all of her problems away.
She popped the trunk and grabbed her bag before walking to the front door. She lightly knocked a few times and after a few short moments she heard the locks click. He looked down at her and her bag and dropped his head, he hated seeing her like this. He stepped to the side and let her in, she dropped her bag at the door and he pulled her into him. He didnât care that she was soaking wet, he just cared that she was there. âPlease donât go back Sav, Iâm begging you.â
Savannah wiped the foggy mirror with her hand and stared at herself for a minute. Her eyes watered and she tilted her head back daring them to fall. The warm shower had temporarily calmed her down and removed the headache that she had been having all day. But the vibrations from her phone could be heard throughout the room and that bought it right back. He hadnât stopped calling her since she left. She walked toward the phone and read some of the messages.
6:28pm: Baby â Fuck you Savannah. I know you going to that nigga house. I hope he fuck you good just like he always do.
 Baby - 15 missed calls
6:30pm: Baby â SMH so you cant answer the phone now? Man Iâm hip to you bruh you probably talking shit about me
6:33pm: Baby â all the shit I did for you and you just leave me for that lame ass nigga. Youâre a fucked up individual young.
  Baby- 22 missed calls
6:34pm: Baby â I was the only one there when everybody turned on your dumbass. I always had your back. But whatever bruh I wonât say shit else to you
6:40pm: Baby â since you with that nigga imma go get me a new bitch. She gon look better than you and she gon be loyal
  Baby â 37 missed calls
6:45pm: Baby â can you please just come home savannah
6:50pm: Baby â Iâm sorry for the way I acted and everything I said just please come home. You know I didnât mean that shit. I was just mad.
   Baby â 45 missed calls
7:00pm: Baby â fuck you Savannah, Iâm done with your hoe ass. Make sure you use a condom when you fucking that nigga.
Sighing she put her phone down and opened her bag, trying to rush out of her home meant she didnât pack everything she needed and that irritated her but she remained calm and put her lotion on. She looked around Rashadâs room and found a pair of sweatpants, slipping each leg into them and throwing on a sweatshirt she had left here a while ago. Brushing her freshly washed hair and twisting it into a top bun, she made her way downstairs and inhaled which made her smile.
âWhat you cooking?â she asked sitting on a stool by the counter. Rashad looked over at her and smirked, she was looking like herself again. âCajun chicken and shrimp pasta.â He stirred the sauce in the pot and took the lid off of the boiling noodles. He pulled his sweatpants back up on his waist and opened the oven checking on the garlic bread. Savannah went to the top of the refrigerator and grabbed his RAW paper tray, she sat back at the table and pulled out a sheet crumbling it in her hands. She looked up at him every now and then enjoying watching him cook.
âSo what happened?â He didnât really care to know, it was always the same thing. He thought she was with someone else, he got disrespectful, and she left. Then he would call her and text her, sheâd be going back to him tomorrow after work. She always did. Sprinkling the marijuana into the sheet, spreading it evenly she shook her head and gave a dry chuckle. âI donât even care to talk about it honestly.â He wouldnât pry, she wanted to leave it alone so he left it alone.
She held the half completed blunt with her thumb and index finger and twisted it up like the professional she was. âWhat you think you doing,â he joked while looking back at her to see what was keeping her so quiet. She giggled and grabbed the lighter drying the freshly rolled paper. âYou know you were gonna do it before you ate anyway so whatâs the difference?â She was right, she always was for the most part.
Lighting the blunt she inhaled deeply and held it in for a minute. When she blew the smoke out she felt an immediate calm wash over her, repeating the process made her feel at peace. She was dependent on the drug now, ever since she met Shane she had been smoking more than the usual. It was for recreation at first but now itâs like her medicine, she canât function until she has that high feeling. It was the only way she could even tolerate being around him anymore. She walked over to Rashad and handed him the blunt and stood next to him leaning on his forearm.
He leaned up against the counter and positioned her in front of him, wrapping his free arm around her waist and using the other hand to pull from the blunt; this felt right to him. Her here, with him; the vibe was perfect he wanted to show her that he was everything she ever needed but this back and forth was getting tired and had past old months ago.
âHere,â she took the blunt from him and moved out of the way going back to her original spot at the counter. She watched as he grabbed two bowls and put the pasta in each one. He placed a slice of garlic bread on the side of each bowl and sat one in front of her and one to her left. He handed her a fork and they both bowed their heads for grace. âRashad this smells amazing.â He popped his collar and she nudged him with her elbow.
They ate peacefully and in silence, not an awkward silence but a comfortable one. When he had finished and put his napkin in his bowl, she grabbed both of them and began to clean the kitchen. It was in her nature to do so and she had been doing this for as long as she had known him. He put the food into their designated containers and took it upon himself to roll two more blunts. She dried the counter off as she finished cleaning the kitchen, and followed him to the living room and turned the light off behind her.
He patted the spot next to him and she sat in the area and put her feet up bending them at the knees. He leaned back on the couch and lit the next blunt.  He inhaled the smoke, held it in his lungs and blew it out. âI wonât lie this feels right.â He coughed immediately after her revelation and sat up a little, coughing into his fist. He wasnât expecting that. âWhy you say that?â he passed the blunt to her and leaned his head back waiting for her reply.
She shrugged and took the blunt holding it between her two fingers, inhaling deeply before blowing the smoke out of her nose. âI just feel comfortable around you, thereâs no force here. Everything just flows naturally, youâre a really great guy Rashad any woman would be lucky to have you.â He rolled his eyes while his head was back, he didnât want any woman he wanted her. âI donât want any woman though.â
Laying her head back into his lap she looked up at him and took another long drag of the marijuana filled paper and passed it back to him. âI know.â She looked down at her thumbs and began to play with them along with the thread of her shirt out of habit. âI would love to be with you, I really would.â She covered her face and felt her eyes watering all over again. A single tear made its way to her cheek and he wiped it for her.
She let out an overdue breath and began again, âIâm just so emotionally and mentally damaged right now that I wouldnât want to put anyone else through that.â She turned to her side, her back facing him. He rested his hand on her thigh and nodded his head, he understood where she was coming from. âI just need to figure out what Savannah wants to do right now. I lost myself trying to find love in him and I donât know who I am anymore.â Her voice was calm but the tears flowed from her eyes like a running faucet.
âBut you canât figure out who Savannah is if you stay.â He rubbed her thigh lightly and felt her nod her head against his. He passed her the blunt again and lit the other one. She repeated the process until the blunt almost burnt her lip, she tossed the roach in the ash tray and wiped her face. âIâm done. I canât tolerate the disrespect anymore. Itâs just I donât understand how someone can claim that they love you and treat you like shit, when itâs convenient for them.â This time when she spoke her voice broke a little, he was so sad for her. Such a beautifully strong individual looked so weak to him right now, over a bum ass nigga. He rubbed his hand down his face and passed her the next blunt. He wasnât as heavy a smoker as he was portraying to be at the moment, but he knew she had a long day.
âThatâs not love baby girl. Heâs using you.â That one sentence single-handedly broke her heart. More tears fell and she sat up wiping her eyes for what seemed like the hundredth time today. What made it worse was that she knew exactly what he was doing and she was allowing it. She became a prisoner in her own relationship and didnât know how to get herself out of it.
