Point is, despair needs read mores. Remember that kids, it might save lives.
On the contrary, when I first read your response I was logged onto my Junko. So coming across it sans read more would have been a welcomed surprise, given the circumstances. But I guess it's a little too late for that. Or a lot too late. Like over a week too late.

A somewhat refined taste in entertainment... Well that was a first for her. A comment like that was to be expected, though. She thought highly of the games and Togami... At least considered them to be worth his time for a while. Which seemed to mean a lot, coming from him. Anyway, there was no sense in dwelling on an idle comment like that. It so wasn't worth her brainpower.
What she should have been focusing on was the fact that he kept glancing behind her. A little flicker here and there, not too far past her at all. It didn't take her too long to realize that he was looking at her guitar, or more specifically the shape it was in. Unsurprising, really. It was beaten and bloody, with a few strings loose. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Ah well, there wasn't much she could do about it. Fidgeting a little and tightening the strap would have to do for now.
"Their resistance was waaaay lame. Though..." She paused for a second, thinking things over as she began following him out of the storage room. "Ibuki thinks their need to escape made it a little more interesting. A little push from Junko-chan here and there and they went totally bonke-"
Oh. That certainly was a kitchen knife he was holding out to her. The one that she were planning on sticking in his head, neck or chest too. It was enough to stop the colourful girl in her tracks, her jaw momentarily going slack and two of her fingers twitching involuntarily. It was like he wanted her to stab him. If that was the case, then she would definitely compl- ...Unless that's what he was expecting.
That left her with two options:
Attack him anyway. This could potentially lead to his death. Or her death. Or neither, which would ruin everything and she'd never be able to show her face to the rest of SHSL Despair again. Which would suck ass, considering the fact that Ibuki doesn't handle stuff like that very well.
Stand down and suffer in silence. Again. That would include holding on for dear life and praying that she passes for someone even mildly sane.
After a moment of consideration, she decided that number 2 would be the best course of action. It could, after all, be beneficial for her and her group in the long run. If she made a half decent impression on the heir right now, then maybe their planned encounter would go a bit smoother. So with her mind made up, a slightly shaky hand reached up to retrieve her weapon. Afterwards, a curt nod and a small upward twitch of her lips was the only thanks she gave before reaching behind herself, tucking the cutlery back under the waistband of her skirt.
And then he continued with his walking and talking, chattering on about his feelings towards the events that took place at Hope's Peak. Nothing really stood out to the musician, except for one small part of his last sentence. "It was destroyed, right? The Conglomerate, Ibuki means." The question was accompanied by a slight tilt of her head and the raising of one vibrant pink eyebrow. Of course, she new exactly what had happened to the rest of the Togami family. She was just interested in his reaction. After all, on television he seemed pretty shaken up when he found out. It was only natural to wonder if he was still torn up about it, right?
They’re gonna wanna see all that shit you just posted and they’re going to be severely disappointed when they click only to see the inner thoughts of an insane light music club student and a Togami.

I have a question, though. Why are we even using read mores? Are the inner thoughts of an "insane" light music club member and a Togami really that horrible that we have to hide them away from the world, never to let them see the light of day again?

Actually, now that I think about it, they probably are something that should be stashed away from the public's eye.
That... Certainly wasn't the response Ibuki was expecting. She had forgotten about how relaxed he was about stuff like that. It was oddly comforting to remember how he openly approved of the game of life and death he was tossed into. The sudden rediscovery was enough to knock her previous plans right out of her head, at least for the moment. With a slight smile, her answer came almost automatically.
"Ibuki thought the second trial was soooooo cool! The way you messed with the crime scene to expose Syo-chan had her on the edge of her seat! The fourth was pretty boring. Sloppily done, too. A total snoozefest! Aoi-chan's little breakdown was pretty- Uh..." Wow, she almost got a bit ahead of herself there. "Pathetic." ...That was hardly any better than what she almost said. "It kinda sorta made things a wee little bit more interesting." There is no happy medium here, is there?
It wasn't exactly lying though. She absolutely adored the second trial for a plethora of reasons. The revelation of Genocider Syo, Byakuya messing with the scene just to spice things up, the beautiful look of defeat that Mondo wore after he had been found guilty... It was brilliant. Kiyotaka's reactions were just the icing on the cake. Oh the Despair that he must have felt when he found out that his newly found friend was going to be executed for murder. It warmed her heart, really.
The fourth had a lot of potential, though. Aoi's desperate attempts to cover up the true nature of Sakura's death was nothing short of a thrill. Sadly, it lost a lot of points due to how long thy dilly dallied on the roles Touko and Yasuhiro played in it all. The fact that it was so late in the game took away from it, too. The first trial was great because Leon had been planning on sacrificing 13 (or 12, because Mukuro died) students so he wouldn't have to die. Aoi, however, would have only gotten 6 people executed because of her little stunt, including herself. If only it had happened sooner.
All in all, Ibuki held the events that occurred at that school in very high regards. She had watched whenever possible, and even stopped by Hope's Peak a couple times to bask in it's glory. It truly was a lovely sight, gatherings of the last hopeful people in the area leading themselves to a painful death by trying to save the students. Her only regret was that she didn't take pictures.
Those were the good old days. When her only worry was whether or not she had placed bets on the right people. When her and the rest of SHSL Despair could just kick back and watch things happen, wreck the cities around them and play their own twisted versions of games. Believe it or not, it was times like those that had made her feel right at home.

The big question that people are going to take from that information is if that means someone has ever tried to smoke a banana. It seems like the kind of thing someone would attempt after hearing it’s a herb. But this is neither here nor there! Big things are happening under these read mores!

The sudden question was enough to catch her almost completely off guard and she temporarily stopped dead in her tracks, one foot still suspended in the air. There... Really wasn't a point in hiding it. Everything that happened in that school was filmed and broadcast publicly. It was just a matter of figuring out how to properly respond it.
How would a regular person let someone know that they watched them survive while of of their classmates died? Classmates that they had no memory of spending an entire year with. Classmates that brutally murdered each other, for selfish reasons such as money and history. Oh how she wished it had lasted longer...
Wait, there's still a question that had to be answered. She really had to get better at this paying attention thing.
After scratching the back of her neck, she nodded, focusing intently on where she was walking rather than who she was talking to. "Ibuki watched you on TV. Correct her if she's wrong, but you're Togami Byakuya, one of the six people that got out of Hope's Peak." And killed Enoshima Junko. Ah yes, there's that familiar feeling of bitter resentment. It was him and his little group of shitstains that were to blame for the death of Junko. Just the thought of that made her stomach churn. To think that their glorious leader could have fallen because of six idiots in an amped up school trial... Eughh. At least she had a few things to remember her by. The musician's only regret was that she couldn't snag her Monokuma hair clips. There had been a huge fight over them, though, resulting in three people getting seriously injured and the death of all 5 of the chickens that were in the school.
But that wasn't the time to get nostalgic. there was things that had to be done. She still wasn't sure how she was going to grab the knife without him noticing, or if him not noticing was even necessary. Hmpf. This might take a little more thought. In the meantime, she still had to tend to her... Guest. God, she hoped he wasn't expecting her to help him beyond bringing him the supplies. The only things she really knew how to do were applying bandaids and dumping peroxide on things.
"Here, it isn't much, but it was all that Ibuki could find."
With only a little fumbling, she managed to pop the case open, revealing some of the more basic things you'd expect: Bandages, medical tape, disinfectant sprays, guaze, etc. Again, not much, but it was better than a rag and some water.

god i love talking about my headcanons
now all i need is to come up with a headcanon layout for the country of novoselic so i can come up with headcanons for how slowly and painfully it burned to the ground at the end of the world!
These opening paragraphs aren’t meant to be little information corners. This is serious business, people might be dying under these read mores. Someone might read up on the fact that platypuses are venomous creatures, and click expecting to learn how to know which ones are and aren’t capable of killing a grown man.
But what if people are dying under these read mores? Wouldn't it be better to give anyone reading these things a brief moment of odd trivia related happiness before throwing them back into the harsh happenings in the post-read more world. For instance, what a lot of people don't know is that a banana is technically classified as an herb! How weird is that? They aren't a fruit nor vegetable.
See, I bet anyone who read that is now at least pleasantly surprised. Or slightly off put. Whatever.
Let's just get back to possible murder attempts.
Togami didn't seem all too happy about Ibuki's previous plans for the violin. Judging from the way he was looking at it, he seemed to like the instrument quite a bit. She could only imagine how he would have reacted if he came all this way, only to find it and every other device of it's kind burning brighter than the sun...
Oh wait, he was running his mouth again.
It took her a moment to process his words, "medical supplies" being a term that wasn't often brought up around people like her. (Unless you were talking to Mikan. Then it was brought up a lot.) A brief look of confusion plastered itself on her face before her eyes lit up in recognition. Normal people tend to their wounds, Ibuki. That should have been obvious. "Medical supplies, right. On it." The words were blurted out as evenly as the musician could manage before she whirled around and made her way out of the room, backtracking to the stage
This is so so so stupid.
The thoughts pushed their way through her mind as she wandered about, looking for anything that could pass as a med kit.
This isn't going to work, you're slipping already.
She hadn't really stored any for herself, but there just had to be one somewhere. At least there should be. There better be.
He has a gun, you're going to die.
If she didn't bring one back then he might get suspicious. And suspicion-

Her searching stopped all of a sudden as her legs decided to lock up, one arm shooting out to the side in a attempt to brace herself against the nearest wall. It was horrible, the sudden waves of dread that washed over her. If was almost as though she could see her fate sealing itself right then and there.
Ibuki is going to die trying to kill Byakuya Togami.
It almost had a nice ring to it. As dark smile crept upon her lips, she was powerless to prevent a small, delighted sigh from making itself heard. She was at least happy to know that she would go out experiencing the wondrous feeling of Despair. All to protect the plan that her glorious leader had left for them, too. Thinking about it like that made it seem a lot better, to be honest.
Anything for Junko-chan.
Anything.
After taking a second to recompose herself, Ibuki resumed her search for medical supplies. It didn't take all that long for her to find a small kit that at least contained the basics for treating wounds and it was hardly burn, so it would have to do. So with the plastic case in hand and her head partially in the clouds, the Despair riddled girl returned to her injured intruder with only one thing on her mind:
Regardless of the effectiveness of battle cries, something that certainly was a little bit more trust worthy (if not an even greater gamble), was surrendering in the face of defeat. Sometimes it was a wise move, sometimes it wasn’t. However, Togami had no intentions of killing any longer, but he had certainly perfected the art of making threats.
I'm running out of creative little opening paragraphs to write here. Maybe I should just add in a few fun facts up above this read more. For example, did you know that pineapples don't grow on trees? They grow in little bushes or something on the ground.
It's disorienting to think about.
As soon as the gun was put away, Ibuki's shoulders sagged. She let out soft sigh, lowering her hands once more. It was tempting to just reach for her knife again, but... He still had that gun of his, and she didn't know that it wasn't loaded. So for now she settled on crouching down to retrieve her Phantom, idly inspecting the neck and thumbing over the strings to make sure that she hadn't knocked anything loose. After deciding that everything seemed to be in order, she slipped the strap over her shoulder, securing it across her back, making sure to at least partially listen to what Togami had to say.
After a second of delay, the musician nodded her head in response to his question. It was hard to believe that this was actually working so far. Or at least she thought it was. He believed that she was taking cover here, so that must mean that she was doing something right, yeah?
While listening to him explain why he was there, she straightened out her shirt, adjusting the neckerchief that she was so glad she wore that day. If she had chosen to sport a certain someone's tie then this whole ordeal would have gotten a hell of a lot hairier.
But enough of thinking about that. It seemed like he was only there to retrieve something. A quick glance behind the heir told her that it was a violin, to which she crinkled her nose at and utterly failed at trying not to sneer. Classical instruments never sat well with her.
"You can have it, Ibuki was planning on using it as firewood at most."
Which was painfully true. Violins burn pretty damn well.
Just when she thought that the conversation was pretty much over with, he dropped another bomb by saying that he... He tore down all her hard work. All the effort she put in to keep this place safe enough so she could sleep soundly .... Just gone.
Just the thought of having to restart from scratch was enough to send a shiver down her spine.
Her momentary feeling of glee was cut short, though, as he brought up her ashen audience. Again, she had to fight the urge to grin at the thought of it. Cooing over it was definitely out of the question, too. So the best course of action was to look uncomfortable, which wasn't too hard considering putting up that entire "normal" charade just felt entirely wrong on it's own.
"With.. With the way that things are, Ibuki has to work with what she has. Even if that means bunking with a bunch of extra crispy corpses."
That should be an okay response, right? Regular people don't typically like the presence of dead people. At least she thought it was that way. It was hard for her to tell. Acting like a hope monger wasn't exactly in SHSL Despair's curriculum.
Sometimes Togami questioned the mentality behind certain actions. Letting out high pitched death metal scream as a precursor to an attempted assassination was something that would normally make him extraordinarily critical of someone. And it did. However as he turned around to see a brightly colored teenager brandishing what appeared to be a bloodstained VOX Phantom guitar, aiming a swing straight down at his head.
Hey now, don't diss the battle cry. Screaming at the top of your lungs before battle dates back to before the Middle Ages. It used to be a common thing for warriors to do. And you know what they say: History repeats itself. So really, it's only a matter of time before the war cry makes a full comeback.
Not that any of that's important, but still.
It didn't take long for Ibuki to tire herself out, a little while of continuous assault left her breathless and more than a little drained. Wielding her guitar as a weapon wasn't one of her brightest ideas, but she worked with what she had. Though, that wasn't all she had...
As her target rose to his feet, she took a step backwards, lowering her guitar so that she was holding it by her side with one hand. Her other reached behind her, grasping for the kitchen knife that she had secured in her waistband. After a moment or two of blind grabbing, she managed to locate the handle, pulling it out and preparing to st-
"!"
A small gasp of surprise was the only thing to be heard from her as the barrel of a gun was pressed to her abdomen. Her eyes widened considerably, every muscle in her body tensing up. Shit. Of all the things she was anticipating, this was not one of them.
One of us is going to have to die. The thoughts drifted through her head and without realizing it, her grip on her guitar loosened enough for it to fall to the side with a loud clatter. If he dies, everything could still work out, but if he doesn't, Ibuki... Ibuki can't... The thought was enough to make the musician's eye twitch, a wave of dread washing over her. There's no way she'd get in a blow before the heir could fire a shot, meaning she was toast.
....Was she ready for death? It sounded despair inducing enough, but- Wait a second. Maybe there's another way out of this. It's not going to be fun at all, but it's worth a shot.
Going against every instinct she had, Ibuki dropped the knife, holding her hands up to show that she was no longer arm and didn't plan on attacking.
"Trying to kill you."
The sentence came out a lot softer than she wanted to, her voice almost cracking near the end. She had to pause for a moment, clenching her jaw to hold back some sort of twisted grin that wanted to take up her face. Now, let's try that again.
"Ibuki was trying to kill you."
That came out a lot clearer. This next part, though... Eugh. It made her want to gag just thinking about saying it. Nevertheless, if she wanted to make it out of this with her liver all in one piece, it had to be said. Only after squishing her eyes shut and gritting her teeth, though.
"She's... Sorry. Please don't shoot."
Something inside of her definitely shattered after saying that.
