The progression of Slocombe’s house version 1 to 3 from top to bottom .

Backstory : When I got Ellie to play Minecraft with me ,one of the draws was Mooshroom cows .so after a few hours we got our own and named it Slocombe .So i made it a pen/home right next to the cottage . then ended up making a 2nd one with the idea looming of filling in the place next to the cottage grounds with some kinda of tree/mushroom feature ..well I mocked up another house with mushroom blocks  somewhere else and it looked neat .I then showed Ellie and she really it .. So that brought back an old idea that was looming ..So Slocombe’s house version 3 was made … I’m looking to unify all my player made Biomes ..there’s a track this home ..which will bring cows to my Mooshroom … Which actually is a fitting tribute to the day when we carted the cows overs to the original pen ..hmm …Oh shit I know.. Boats  and tracks in picture frames in the home to tell the story of how it all started …

It was pointed out to me that there was no garage so I set to and built one - even putting tool boxes and a work (crafting) table in it.  But not being satisfied by that I built a games room above it with Tetris patterned flooring!  I went on to make a fishing pond to complete the 'estate' and I found an Otter looking into the pond ready to pounce on any fish he saw!

When I was building the summerhouse, Lenny was busy building a dog house - well, it was actually a dog cave.  He told me how a wolf could be trained into a dog and then he spawned a wolf.  Before I could do anything the wolf disappeared into the jungle at the back of the swimming pool.  I was not going to let him escape and I went after him.  Today, I asked Lenny the sequence of events as this happened quite some time ago and he said, "I thought he escaped ..and then I came back and you were next to him eyeballing him" hahaha that was right and a few seconds later, he was following me back to his dog cave.  The saga didn't end there and I kept going into the dog cave then back out only to find him wandering close by.  I'd go back in and then out for a few times before he finally came in and I got him obeying my "SIT!" command ;)

He became known as Zibby which is a name chosen for a real life dog.  I was so pleased with having Zibby that a series of pics followed but I have got it down to 2.  I knew the dog was male as when I fed it, hearts were in abundance and as we all know, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach :p  Two chicken befriended Zibby for a while but then they disappeared - hmm he probably ate them!!  A tree was planted for -ahem- obvious reasons....

The other thing we found out about dogs is that if they go in water, when they get out they shake their coats like real dogs do.  It was quite hilarious when I first saw it and although difficult to take a pic of, I did get a fairly decent one.

Outside the dining room I decided to put a patio area with a bbq.  It was all adhoc and probably the quickest structure I have made - it was in my head and on minecraft in minutes.  

Inside my house I was trying to think how to do a ceiling above the living room with beams.  My friend Poofy offered to help and I was delighted with how it looked.  Lenny came along the next day and said he was going to alter the roof above the main part of the house and set to and built me a roof garden.  I was fascinated by the plants popping up and was back and forth counting how many pumpkins and melons had grown since the  last time I had looked!

I did continue with the ground floor of the house adding a study and a lounge but before finishing I had an urge to build a summerhouse/art room - it is something I would really like in real life and so I tried to build it as I would really want it.  I wanted it circular with lots of glass so that natural light would be ever present.  I had told Lenny where I was going to build it and while I finished a bit more of the house he cleared the area where the summerhouse was to go.  I added a few bits here and there and 2 works of art!!

I started in multiplayer with a swimming pool as I had done in single player.  It was a natural pool and very much like the other one and then some idiot found me and destroyed what I had done.  I restarted it and made it more conventional than before.  

I then went on to make a house with the kitchen being the first thing I did.  Again it was a simple project and more of an experiment of using the different items.  I also made my first staircase, of which I was very proud - makes me laugh now at the effort it was to get the stairs going in the right direction.

I then moved on next door to make a dining room.  I managed to mix blocks to get a carpet effect and then made a 'working dresser' with doors which opened and shelves inside - I thought I was so clever hahahaha.

Following a journey by boat and rail and getting a Mooshroom cow, I decided it was time to branch out on my own.  I went to single player and just played around with all the blocks and items on the itinerary.  After flooding an area and spending ages getting rid of it, I started to build a house.  I hadn't at that point looked at any videos or minecraft sites but did have Lenny to fall back on and every time I went to his place, I was stealing ideas to use, taking caps and studying them.  I found a place with a natural pool and decided to make it into a swimming pool.  I had to get rid of the squids as they gave me the eebie jeebies and then surrounded it with glass blocks.  I was quite pleased with the result so started making a house.  I decided to get all the rooms done and then I would find a way of joining them together and building the roof. 

I kept popping onto multi-player as there were a few people I know on there and one time I said I was going to single player and a few people said I should stay and start playing on there instead.  I left for all of a minute and decided they were right and I have been there ever since.  I use single player for experimenting (especially with lava and water!!)

The next night Lenny cut out the middleman and took me straight to Mooshroom Island.  I still wasn't sure what to expect but as I got a cow to follow me I saw that there was a cart waiting for the cow and under instruction I got the cow into the cart and Lenny sent it  on it's way.  He then produced another cart and there I was on my 2nd minecraft journey in 2 days.  I thoroughly enjoyed the journey on this huge rail bridge - it went on for several minutes with very realistic sounds.  Then we arrived and the cow went through to the terminal and we both got out the cart.  I led it through to a huge elevator and really didn't think it would work but after a few attempts, up I went followed by the Mooshroom cow.  Lenny then led us through to where he had built a cow pen :D  I was delighted and after I got the cow to follow me in, Lenny said I could name the cow and she became Slocombe (after a character in an old TV series).  I found the whole episode enchanting and that was that, I was hooked.

At the end of the first day Lenny said he would have a surprise for me for the next day.  I was intrigued and had no clue as to what it was going to be.  After I got on minecraft Lenny said we were going on a boat trip.  I was delighted but then as I saw the boat and Lenny said to get in, I realised I was on my own with Lenny in the lead and I hoped I would be able to keep up with him.  

It was great fun - Lenny kept looking back to see if I was there and later told me he was quite impressed with the way I kept up :)  He kept pointing things out and then he told me to look at the sunrise...it was really quite impressive.  Then he said we were almost at our destination and I saw an island in the near distance.  We had arrived at Mooshroom Island and as I got out of the boat (almost drowning in the process) I heard and saw cows!

I was delighted and Lenny said I was to hold straw and the mooshroom cow would come to me.  At first the mooshroom cow wouldn't follow but it was because it needed a walkway which Lenny quickly built.  Two cows followed me and unbeknown to me they mated and suddenly there was a mooshroom calf :D  It was so adorable.  It was getting late then and so it was time to go but what a lovely surprise I had.

Lenny had been talking a lot about minecraft - I liked the idea of it but didn’t really think I had time to dedicate to it….that was before I saw 1) a mooshroom cow and 2) a mooshroom calf!  I was immediately besotted and asked Lenny how I went about getting minecraft.  

I had seen quite a few screen caps which were in themselves impressive but it wasn’t like being there - seeing everything from every angle.  Of course I spent the 1st day asking Lenny, “How do I do ‘this’, how do I do ‘that’ (mainly how to walk, how to fly etc and I kept disappearing into the unknown!).  Then Lenny explained how I could lay my first brick and he labelled it for me and thus has started an obsession...
