Happy Dunk and Egg day! Here's a rough drawing, I've been trying to merge novella Dunk art I've done with his live action counterpart, and this is the result!

A moment for the elk teeth.
I came across a modern elk teeth shirt, fashioned after classic Cheyenne Elk Tooth dresses, and knew that that's what I wanted to do for Dani. The skirt is your classic ribbon skirt, using the colors of the medicine wheel for the ribbons. I contemplated doing a concho belt, but decided that using negative space like several X-Men classic covers was the move instead, with the 'X' symbol in the middle.
All in all, I wanted to go for a fusion of traditional regalia silhouettes, with modern fashion.
As we enter Dani week, I'd like to give some examples of traditional Cheyanne regalia that is appropriate to put Dani in, instead of generic pan-indian designs, or the dreaded 'putting every single native female character in a jingle dress' trope. As ever, this is just my two cents as a native woman in comic spaces, and someone who grew up around the southern plains tribes, has several Cheyenne friends and loved ones who I have grown up with, and who dances in southern plains powwow spaces!
Here are some example of Tsistsistas/Cheyenne traditional clothing! You'll notice that a lot of Cheyenne tradish clothing are two panel leather dresses, with elk teeth, and beading. Elk teeth dresses were a status symbol, and the more elk teeth, the more of a 'flex' it was due to your family being able to provide for it. Cheyenne beading, at least more traditionally, focuses on color blocks, in a set row at the top of the dress and above the breasts.
Now, quick test!
Which of these are Cheyenne? Trick question! None of them are. In order they are South Western Apache, Walla Walla, Northern Lakota, Lakota, Kiowa, and Eastern Shoshone!
What these have in common with the Cheyenne is they are also Plains Native's, with a similar regional style of 2 panels of leather + a 'yoke', However, their beading, layering, and styling are all different from Cheyenne regalia.
If you wish to draw Dani in traditional clothing, I heavily recommend looking up Tsistsistas/Cheyenne traditional dress, with museums being a great resource to make sure you are looking at the correct tribal regalia!
Now, on to mocs! Mocs are wholly regional, with their designs, beading style, and even length and materials varying tribe to tribe.
These are all examples of Cheyenne mocs!
These two are Arapaho!
These are Kiowa!
And these are Lakota.
Again, all Plains tribes, but all different! The shape, patterns, and even beads used all differ.
While in modern times there are a lot of cross tribal designs and inspirations, if you are not Native and not enmeshed into our cultural zeitgeist and how we can tell cultural crossover, I'm of the camp it's not exactly 'for' you to mish-mash our cultural items together. While an IRL plains NDN may take inspiration from her sister tribes in the area, if you are not native, it simply comes across as cultural ignorance to see non Natives to blend our cultures together. It's the difference between post colonial resilience and solidarity that we share vs the colonizers lumping us into cultural groups and broadly seeing all of us in one region as the same.
Aaaand my final piece of art this year is a completely indulgent OC piece for a 'Rhaegar Wins' au that lives solely in my head.
The TLDR bare bones is Rhaegelle taking in Jon as a ward, while Rhaegar is in critical condition and recovering after the trident. He defeats Robert Baratheon, but barely. With no burning of Qarlton Chelsted, Dany is not conceived from Aerys raping Rhaella. Alongside Qarlton Chelsted living, there is no sack of King's Landing, thus Tywin doesn't have an opportunity to kill Elia and her children, nor does Jaime kill Aerys.
Instead, Rhaegelle kills her own father after she learns of his Wildfire Plot, and with Jaime's help, she frames it as the throne itself killing him, as was done with Maegor.
While Rhaegar recovers, she has Arthur bring Lyanna to the Red Keep. Once Jon is born and Lyanna dies, she takes him in as her own ward before Rhaegar recovers, denying him legitimization so he would not be a threat to Elia's children place in succession.
For the symbolism chosen:
The dragon in the upper left is based on the Cannibal, flying over the red keep, with the wildfire spreading. Rhaegelle killing her own father is akin to the Cannibal eating other dragons, all under the threat of wildfire consuming everything.
The right is all that Jon could have been, as is in the books. Winterfell with winter coming, Ghost looking up at Jon, and with The Three Eyed Raven overlooking it all.
And for the center, Rhaegelle is holding Jon, while sitting on the Iron Throne, and a symbol of the Faith of the Seven behind her, with a crown of winter roses haloing Jon. I pulled from symbolism of plain clothes Madonna and Child for Rhaegelle and Jon, however with a stark contrast between Jon and Rhaegelle's expressions. Despite the circumstances of his conception and birth, Jon is allowed to be a fat and happy baby, oblivious to what he has been born into. Rhaegelle however, has no light left within her eyes, and is consumed with spite against her father and brother for the life she has been condemned to.
The Faith of the Seven imagery paints her almost saint like, like the Mother herself, for taking on Jon, even as it is the worst thing that could happen to her. Her suffering as a woman born into House Targaryen is almost holy. Jon is haloed by the symbol of his mother, breaking up the visual of the symbol of the Seven, his roots as one of the First Men and the Old Gods.
Overall, I cant believe I actually finished this lol. I cant even count the hours put into it. The final working file size was 53.5 mbs, and all layers in total pre merging and deleting, was in the 90's. Huuuuuge undertaking that I'm glad I was able to finish in time.
So! For the jewelry I pulled a lot of inspo from Bengali wedding jewelry for her piercings and tikka! Originally I was thinking of going more for a matha patti style, but I couldn't get it looking right with her bangs ORZ. So, went with a more simplified golden Martell sun and chain design.
For her earrings, I was originally planning to do jhumka's with gold and rubies, but decided on the pomegranate with matching rubies for the nose piercing instead. The rubies as symbolism for Rhaegar and House Targaryen, and then the pomegranate for symbolism. However, I lean more into the Jewish symbolism, rather than the popular Greek. Pomegranates are so heavily associated with Rosh Hashanah for us; fertility, and the start of the new year, with Yom Kippur following with atonement and forgiveness. Elia struggled with fertility, and has just been publicly humiliated by her husband, with the new year after 282 AC being Robert's Rebellion. Her situation is a complete inversion of the joy, forgiveness, and ushering of the new associated with Pomegranate's, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur, with rubies so heavily associated with Rhaegar tying it into that perversion of joy.
I toyed around with various colors for the bow above her pregnant belly, before settling on white. Elia was more than likely 6-7 months pregnant when Harrenhal happens. There is no mistaking her for anything but a heavily pregnant woman, with Aegon being the baby within her. White is both a symbol of purity, and innocence, but also, sacrifice. Elia gives Rhaegar the son he desperately wanted for prophecy, and he is still not good enough for Rhaegar. Aegon is a lamb for slaughter. Elia is a lamb for slaughter.
And finally, the Winter Roses! ignore no discernible rose bush. I uh. Tried. It did not turn out well LMAO. I instead pulled from how they are in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad (surprisingly great game btw); where they're singular stalks of a rose that are a harvestable crafting item, and then used the appearance from the Crown of Winter Roses for the specific blue. Despite being a rare flower, they're scattered all behind her head. Thoughts of Lyanna, the tourney, and the Queen of Love and Beauty haunting her.
Overall, this took like,,, 20ish hours to make? I'm glad I stuck it out and committed to the vision I had for this, because I think it's the best art I've made so far :)
Oh my god it’s finally done. Final layer count is 52, and it took 15ish hours all in total. Not OC/Canon, but a secret third thing inbetween friendship and more with wondercheetah clay baby Amazon and Damian.

read more for art thoughts, but man, drawing young maegor was so weird LMAO. I've only drawn him much older so it was kind of a struggle to age those features I've already drawn down, and also draw him beardless. For detailing, the riding cape he's wearing is based off of cardinal capes. The wine red used for his shirt underneath pulls from meanings of lust and vices. I used the reds of apples for Elaena to further color symbolism of the both of them as half siblings, and her being what he covets. The golden divider in the background is like the physical representation of the metaphorical space between them in their family, and elaena's distaste for him. All around this is technically oc posting, but it very much is Maegor focused and on his hunger for power, recognition, and how he coveted women and wombs to try to achieve those goals.
