Zayne's brows twitched at the question, barely sparing a glance over his shoulder at the other man as they walked down the hotel hall towards their assigned room. He held the keycard in one hand, luggage being pulled behind him with the other.

"I made sure to book a double when I made the reservation," he says, tossing another glance at the other man, lip twitching briefly into a smirk. "But on the off chance there was a mix-up, I'm sure we can call the front desk for a cot for you to sleep on."

～❥ Caleb had to hold back the huff of a laugh that nearly escaped him at his poor attempts to rile Zayne up, he had meant to get a rise out of him, or maybe even to fluster him slightly though even he had to admit the attempts were poor and maybe even his worst attempts. He'd never admit that maybe he was even voicing his wishful thinking out loud. But leave it to the doctor to remain unfazed, only sparing him the hint of a reaction and smirk... and to shut him down so thoroughly as well.

He huffs a little, an unintelligible mutter leaving his lips as he impatiently eyed the numbers on the wall before making another, lackluster go at it. "Aw, you wouldn't share the bed with me? Don't tell me you're scared of me, hm? Afraid I'd be too cuddle-able? I'd keep ya nice and warm~" He was reaching, he knew. Even he thought it was almost out of character, or maybe even close to pathetic, but he had been known to be slightly silly, at least in high school. Until he grew up.

"Well, a cot would be better than the floor, at least." He muses as they come to a stop outside their presumed room. "Well don't leave us waiting in suspense." He moved to tug Zayne's suitcase handle from him so he could focus on the door.

The man catches a glimpse of the plotting cat for a moment, crimson eyes trailing her and even making full eye contact as he flips through the papers within his hands, wondering what she could possibly be up to though it was very clear it was no good. He didn't flinch at her sudden leap, body instinctively leaning in to be sure she landed perfectly atop his as a amused chuckle left him at her antics. She was perched so proudly on his shoulders, it was clear what she was thinking. He turned to look at her, moving to leave the loose sheets of paper on his desk as a hand instead came up to scratch under her chin, fingers moving slowly to get behind her ears as well.

"Oh? Has my kitten decided that I am her mode of transport for now?" He asked, tone curious and indulgent. There was a indignant caw from the corner of the room, Mephisto watching the two with what could only be called a look of betrayal and offense at his usual spot being taken. Sylus couldn't help the smirk, or accompanying laugh that followed, but he bumped his head back playfully against Wren, humming in thought. "Wouldn't the princess preferred to be carried? Or does she prefer to have her subjects beneath her?"

Reading through painful signal and it makes me wonder if caleb, especially when they first reconnect, is so desperate for any way into MCs life, not just because he missed her, but as a reminder to himself, who he cares for and why he does what he does. I think he fears forgetting her as well. But it's also just the way he would accept anything, so long as it's from MC and he fears losing he and his reason for everything.

The fact that he was worried his arm would scare them. Which is wild to me, honestly. But God, the way he yearnsssss.
