Salvador Dalí, who was born on this day in 1904, is best known for his technical skill and bizarre imagery, Dalí was a versatile artist whose repertoire included painting, sculpture, theater and film, photography, and fashion. In his work, Dalí explored dreams and the subconscious mind, which lead him to create unusual and oftentimes unsettling imagery. To the dismay and irritation of many, his flamboyant and eccentric behavior often drew more attention than his artwork. As one of the most celebrated artists of all time, Salvador Dalí influenced not only other Surrealists during his lifetime but also Contemporary artists today.
