Is it poor etiquette to have one artist design a tattoo and another in the Philippines tattoo it?
I have a tattoo artist that I like to go to in Quezon City but he isn't the best at doing the designs. I want to get a Filipino tribal tattoo and my friend who designed my last tattoo is Polish so it feels weird to have her do it for me.
Would it be bad etiquette to commission a different Filipino artist to help design the tattoo for my artist to tattoo for me?
ALSO! If anyone whose Filipino, an artist and is willing to work with me to design my next tattoo, id so love to commission you đĽš

Part 1
Itâs been 6 months since Bucky last saw you, heâs hated it. He misses you. He misses your beautiful face, the way your smile makes his heart tingle. Misses the way your eyes shines brightly when youâre talking about your hobbies and interests. Misses the feel of your soft skin under his calloused hands. He just misses the love of his life, his other half - his sweet perfect wife.Â
He remembers how your smile dropped as he tells you he wanted a divorce. Remembers the heartbreakingly look in your eyes as he told heâd been having an affair. That one look has haunted his dreams, his every waking moment. He can still feel the acid in his throat as he wills himself to nod as you ask that one question. Nothing more nothing less. You just wanted that one question to be answered and he couldnât even look at you let alone answer verbally. He didnât even know you left the house until the divorce hearing; he watched you walk away with Matt and Foggy wishing he could say something but nothing comes out. He watched as your feet falter when you see Carly. He knows exactly what youâre thinking.
But Itâs over now.
Itâs over now and he can get you back.
Itâs over now and heâs hoping and praying that youâll understand and forgive him.
Itâs over now and heâs going to move heaven and earth to have his love back in his arms.
He finds out youâve been staying with Matt since he broke both of your hearts. How does he do this? How does he knock on the door hoping that neither one of you punches him in the face (not that he doesnât deserve it) he just hopes youâll listen to him.
Bucky walks into the florist to get the biggest bouquet of your favourite flowers he can get.Â
The skies start to turn dark even with the sun shining brightly, if he didnât know any better heâd think it was forewarning for whatâs to come.
Knocking on the wooden door itâs Matt that greats him. âWhat? What are you doing hereâ if Bucky wasnât a super soldier heâd be scared with the tone in Matts voice.
âI-um I need to see Y-Y/N. Pleaseâ
âSheâs not here. Sheâs not here anymoreâ Bucky canât understand why Matt sounds broken.
âWell um where does she live now?â Heâs trying not to stumble off his words.
âNo James you donât understandâ Matt looks up towards the ceiling then continues but doesnât get the chance.
âWhat do you mean I donât understand? Matt look I know you hate me for what I did to Y/N but I had a reason, I just need to see her to explain it to her. Please Matt just tell me where she livesâ. He begging and pleading and itâs clear as day in the way his voice wavers.
Matt speaks in a fast manner âGet inside before Ms Jenson comes out and complainsâÂ
The apartments a mess, thereâs takeaway boxes laying around, the sinks full of pots and thereâs trash overflowing in the bin. The apartment looks nothing like it did 8 months prior when Y/N and himself went round for a double date with Matt and some woman he canât remember the name of. Matt sits down and lazily waves his arm round for Bucky to sit to.
âMatt wher-â he doesnât get to finish his sentence.
âJames sheâs gone, sheâs dead.â The air is cut off. The room is spinning. His world has ended. He doesnât know what to do or say so he stares blankly at Matt waiting for the punchline of a joke that isnât even remotely funny. Matt understands he needs to say more so he does. âThat day you told her you wanted a divorce to be with your side piece sheâd been at the hospital for her results. It was cancer. Terminal. Sheâd been told she had about 6 months to a year left. Her insurance didnât cover her medical expenses so she stopped treatment, I told her I would pay but you know what sheâs like-was like. 3 weeks ago she made me go out on a date with Karen she said sheâd be fine and made me promise Iâd have a good time. I got home around 11 and went to bed. The next morning, I couldnât hear her walking around, so I went into her room, she um sheâd taken pills, enough to end her life. It was too late to do anything, they said sheâd been gone for 18 hours. Id only been gone for an hourâ tears stream down both of the menâs faces. Matt struggles to continues âshe begged me not to say anything to you, she didnât want to get in the way of your relationship. She thought if you knew youâd change your mind and not divorce her just because she was dying. Y/N begged me James so I couldnât I couldnât do that to her-â Bucky cuts him off.Â
âI didnât have an affair. I swear. Hydra was after me again and I had to divorce Y/N so she wouldnât get hurt. I told her I had an affair so she would divorce me, I knew cheating was a deal breaker so I lied. I fucking lied and sheâs dead. I lied and sheâs not even going to know the truth.â He tries so hard to continue but canât his airway is closing up. He passes out.
10 years have been and gone, the pain of losing the only person he has ever loved didnât stop not that he wants it to. Bucky wants to remember the pain.Â
In the 10 years that have passed heâs visits your grave every Friday, wedding anniversary, the date you two got together, the date he proposed, your birthday and on Christmas. After the fifth year Steve told him he needed to move on, and well long story short they had a fight and Bucky cried saying he couldnât move on. In the end everyone around him understood that he would never move on from the love of his life. He sits there no matter the weather and talks to you for hours. He told you Matt and Karen were having a baby girl, then told you they named her after you. Told you all about his cat Alpine. After every visit without fail or another thought he tells you he loves you and canât wait to see you again.
Itâs been 10 years 5 months 12 days since you passed away and Buckyâs on his way to see you.
Heâs on a mission thatâs gone horribly wrong heâs been shot too many times. Heâs so tired and Steveâs trying to get him to stay awake but itâs no use.
âStevie p-please stop. I w-wan-t to be w-ith my Y-Y/N I need to be with h-erâ Even though Bucky gasps for breaths his voice is strong enough to let Steve and the team know that this is what he wants. Steve gives him a slow nod with tears sliding down his cheeks, he clasps hands with his best friend and keeps locked tight long after Bucky takes his last breath.
He leaves the world with a smile on his face.
You stand there waiting for him and as soon as you lock eyes with him youâre running. Jumping into his arms and before he can say anything you kiss him. Hard. After you separate you tell him you know the truth. You heard him every time he would visit your grave. You tell each other how much you love one another. You take his hand and lead him into your new life.

âAre you ready Y/n/n?â
âReady as Iâll ever beâ
Swallowing her nerves she stepped on to the stage, the bright lights nearly blinding her, her heart beating rapidly all disappeared when the music vibrated through her whole body, as always when she was on a stage she came alive.
keep thinking 'bout his angel eyes
keep thinking, ah-ah
The girl under his arm smiled hugely at him when the lyrics filled the room. He smiled back before placing a soft kiss to her lips which had the girl blushing.
Last night, I was taking a walk along the river, And I saw him together with a young girl
And the look that he gave her made me shiver, 'Cause he always used to look at me that way
His heart stopped. He knew that voice.
Whipping his head from the girl to the stage he started to shift in his seat. He knew the singer standing on the stage like she belonged there, like she was put on to this earth to perform.
He remembers the first time he heard her sing, she was in the shower putting on a performance of a life time to the shampoo and conditioner bottles. When he asked her to sing to him she blushed violently before agreeing, she was so shy when she wasnât singing but the moment she did she gained everyoneâs attention.
Some nights after a pacticular nightmare he would ask her to sing something for him, she would always pick something from his era.
Then I thought maybe I should walk right up to her and say
"Ah-ha-ha, it's a game he likes to play"
She was a friend of Natâs who had introduced the team to her, her and Bucky hit off straight away.
âDo you want to play a game?â Bucky asked once they were alone in the tower.
âWhat kind of game?â
âTruth or dareâ
âOkayâ
The game started off pretty innocent until Bucky dared her to kiss him. So she did.
The kiss ended up with them naked, panting for breath in his bed.
A few weeks later Bucky asked her out and she said yes.
Look into his angel eyes. One look and you're hypnotised
âBuck has anyone ever told you that your eyes are perfect?â Y/n asked one day as they were lying in bed together.
âNo, do you think they are?â
âItâs like youâve got angel eyesâ
âAngel eyes?â
âYep! Oh and they are so hypnoticâ
Bucky barked out a laugh, he had always been told that his eyes were nice but thisâŚthis was new.
âHypnotic? Baby can my eyes hypnotise you?â
âMaybe, no definitely canâ she answered.
âLetâs put this to the test shall we?â
Neither one left the room for that whole day.
He'll take your heart and you must pay the price. Look into his angel eyes
Thatâs all she did, she gave and gave whilst he just took everything not once giving her the same or even a slither of what she gave him.
She gave him her heart, her soul, her body on a silver platter and he took it. The moment he was done he took the silver platter and smashed it on the ground letting it break into tiny little pieces, stomping on it just to finish the job.
He did it all whilst looking at her with those bright baby blue eyes, the ones that reminded her of an angel, no harm could be done not when he had those angel eyes.
What a lie.
You'll think you're in paradise
And one day you'll find out he wears a disguise
She was on cloud nine, her landlord had rang her earlier that day to say that he was getting maintenance out to fix the pipe under her sink that had been playing up for weeks. She had gotten the promotion at work, the one that she had worked so hard for.
Bucky had told her to come to the tower after work, said that he planning something special for them both. He always did that, always planning things for them he was the first boyfriend she ever had that always made time for her, always made her feel like she worth more than life had to offer, always one step ahead of the game.
He made her feel safe, secure and loved.
Until she walked happily into the tower and saw him with a brunette lips locked together.
Don't look too deep into those angel eyes. Oh no, no, no, no
âJamie who is this?â the brunette asked looking at Y/n.
âA friendâ
âOh itâs so nice to meet you Iâm Dolores but you can call me Dot, Iâm Jamieâs fiancĂŠeâ
Y/n looked at the womanâs left hand and sure enough there was a silver band with a huge rock sitting on her finger, her teary eyes met his angel eyes her heart breaking even more when she saw no remorse. She had no choice but to shake the womanâs hand.
Making up a lie to the woman who accepted it Y/n rushed out of the room to the elevator, looking back to see Buckyâs eyes trained on her.
(Ah-ha-ha) I keep thinking 'bout his angel eyes I keep thinking, ah-ah)
She was the other woman. She was the other woman and none of his friends told her, Nat hadnât even told her and she knew. Nat knew Y/n was in love with a man who was engaged to someone else and she didnât even tell her.
That night she curled up on the couch tears streaming heavily down her cheeks, the thought of sleeping in the bed that held the memories of them sweaty and naked in her bed and that was just that morning, made her feel physically sick.
Sometimes when I'm lonely, I sit and think about him. And it hurts to remember all the good times. When I thought I could never live without him
Bucky. Bucky. Bucky.
Like a fool thatâs all she thought about. She thought about a man who had used her, made her into something she always swore she would never be, the man who took her heart in the palm of his hand a squeezed until there was hardly anything left to squeeze out.
He didnât try once to reach out to her to try and explain or to try and make out that this Dot lady was a crazy woman who was just making things up, even though she knew it would have been a lie she kept expecting him to show up at her door and tell her that.
Was she a bad person? Should she have told Dot that her fiancĂŠ was a cheater? Would the woman believe her? Would it even make a difference?
He made her feel loved, she was in love with him whole heartedly and all she was to him was some dumb naive play thing whilst his fiancĂŠe was probably planning their wedding. There was never a dull moment between her and Bucky, their year together was full of passion, love, laughter. The memories he left her with were good, happy and now they were tainted.
He took a year of her life and the whole time she meant nothing to him when he was her world. Her mom always did say that when she loved she loved hard, and it was true.
Stupidly she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with him.
And I wonder, does it have to be the same. Every time when I see him, will it bring back all the pain?
She had managed to avoid him out on the streets or stores until one fateful night when she had gone to the store after work to pick some more ice cream up, as she walked down the aisles her music blaring through her headphones she caught a glimpse of him laughing with Steve. Neither one noticed her.
Her heart ached at the sight of him. It had been over six months since she last saw him and every single thing she tried so hard to forget came rushing back. Dropping the basket she was carrying on the ground she rushed out of the store.
Not knowing that Bucky had seen her fleeing away from him.
Ah-ha-ha, how can I forget that name?
If it wasnât in her memories his name haunted it was online.
âJames Barnes and Dolores Roberts tie the knot in beautiful ceremonyâ the headlines read, in the photos they stood there with huge smiles on their faces.
âJames Barnes injured on a mission in Russiaâ the urge to phone and check up on him had her throwing her phone across the room.
âJames and Dolores Barnes expecting first baby togetherâ
âJames Barnesâ
âJames Barnesâ
âJames Barnesâ
Though the world didnât know about her they didnât let her forget his name.
Look into his angel eyes. One look and you're hypnotized
His eyes haunted her dreams. The worst part of it all was that they still brought her peace and safety.
He'll take your heart and you must pay the price. Look into his angel eyes, You'll think you're in paradise. Then one day you'll find out he wears a disguise. Don't look too deep into those angel eyes. Crazy 'bout his angel eyes. Angel eyes
He took my heart and now I pay the price
He sat there and watched as she owned the stage, he took each word she heavenly sang in. The guilt eating more and more away at him for the way things went between them, he was so caught up in the moment of being able to get away with cheating on his then fiancĂŠe now wife that he didnât think about the damage he was causing anyone else.
At least not his Y/n.
Look into his angel eyes
He loved the way she called him Angeleyes, at first it was something silly she would say to wind him up but then it became a name that every time she called it him she had his full attention, he even stopped answering to Bucky when it came from her.
You'll think you're in paradise
Bucky had no idea how his straying away from Dot began, he doesnât even remember the first womanâs name or how she looked. Meeting Y/n was the best thing to ever happen to him, being with her was definitely like being in paradise. She wasnât just another woman he cheated on his fiancĂŠe with, no she had his heart.
Then one day you'll find out he wears a disguise. Don't look too deep into those angel eyes. Oh no, no, no, no
He never wore a disguiseâŚhe was always himself with her. Well apart from telling her that he was engaged to another woman.
keep thinking. Keep thinking 'bout his angel eyes (ah-ha-ha)
Keep thinking (ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha). Keep thinking, had to pay the price (ah-ah, ah-ah-ah)
As the song came to an end everyone in the place stood and cheered, the girl under his arm that was most definitely not his wife as she was at home looking after their three year old and nine week old baby, stood up clapping along with the rest not knowing that the song she had been dancing along to was about the man she was on her third date with, nor did she know that he was married with two children. The cheering slowly came to a stop, Bucky watched as his Y/n climbed down the three steps off the stage and jumped into a manâs arms.
His Angeleyes filling with tears when he saw the man take her face into his hands and placed his lips to hers.
His heart breaking when he caught the light reflecting off a ring, a ring that sat on her left hand.
Keep thinking, I had to pay the price (ah-ah, ah-ah-ah). Keep thinking (ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha)

It wasnât meant to be like this, it was meant to be a straight forward mission get in and get out thatâs what Fury said, not with the majority of the team fighting with their bare fists against guns.
Bucky looked to his left after hearing Natasha cry out in pain, her hand going straight to her thigh where blood was seeping through the crevices of her fingers. Another deafening gunshot one after the other. He hears Sam groaning in pain as he crashed into the ground after he had been shot down.
The chaos surrounding him had his mind spiralling in confusion. He didnât know who to go to save first. He didnât know where Steve was. His right side was throbbing. He just wanted to go home to his love and cuddle up in bed whilst watching shitty tv programs with his fingers threading through her soft hair.
These agents werenât backing down in the slightest, every time he blinked he swore that the number of said agents grew. Bucky heard Steve ordering the team to retreat Nat gave Bucky a confused look which he shrugged but complied with his best friends request.
âSHIELD agents are hereâ Steve panted down his comms trying to fight off his opponents.
With the extra back up they were now gaining the upper hand.
After what felt like hours but realistically was only twenty minutes tops all Hydra agents were down, those still breathing were being handcuffed and already being loaded on the jets.
As Natasha, Sam, Wanda were getting patched up Bucky, Steve and Tony made their way through the now destroyed base to look for what they originally came for. Steve eyed Bucky up and down noticing that his right hand was pressing down on his right side.
âBuck?â
âYeah?â
âAre you alright?â
âYeah, itâs just a grazeâ
âThatâs not just a graze tinmanâ Tony says also eyeing up Buckyâs side.
âIâm fine. Come on letâs get this doneâ Steve and Tony share a look of concern behind Buckyâs back watching the man starting to lean on his left side to make it easier for himself.
Just as Bucky turned the corner his foot stood on something making a beeping noise, looking down he swallowed. âSteveâ
âWhatâs up?â
âC-can you go and get my phone off the jetâ
âHuh? Why?â The blond looked at Tony who shrugged in response.
âJu-just get me my phone please, please Steveâ
âOkay-â
âIâll get it Capâ Tony says before flying off to the jet. Steve made his way to where he knew Bucky had gone.
âStop! Stop Steveâ
âBuck whatâs going on?â
âI-Iâve erm Iâve triggered a bomb I thinkâ Bucky admits with his head downwards trying to find a wire in hopes that someone could deactivate the thing.
âBuckâŚâ
âI know okay I know. I canât find the wire but I-I know itâs bad alrightâ
Neither one of the super soldiers realise that the rest of the team including SHIELD agents could hear the conversation through their comms. Tonyâs feet faltered when he was heading towards Buckyâs duffle. Nat squeezed Wandaâs hand, Sam closed his eyes and Steve looked around desperately hoping he could see a wire or something to deactivate the bomb he could see under his best friends boot.
Back at the shared home you shared with Bucky you was getting all the ingredients for Buckyâs favourite meal. The loud buzzing of your phone startled you from its place on the counter.
âHey babe, you on your way home? Iâm making your favourite dinner tonight, why? Because I love you. How was the mission? Everyoneâs okay arenât they? Buck?â You rambled, excited to talk to him, it wasnât until you noticed that he was completely silent on the other end. You pulled your phone away from your ear and checked to see if the call dropped but it didnât. âBuck?â
âHi babyâ
âAre you-â
âI love you, you know that donât you?â
âI do, Buck wha-â
âI love you more than anything, please donât ever forget that okayâ
âBucky whatâs going on? Are you hurt? Is Steve with you? What-â
âBaby I-Iâm not going to make it home tonightâ
âNo no no you are alright, donât be silly babe. Youâll come home to me a-and Iâll take care of you and youâll be okay-â
âLove, listen to me, Iâm not, god I wish I was but itâs not happening b-but listen I love you a-and I love Peanut please tell them that, promise me that youâll tell them, baby pleaseâ
Gasping for air as your airways started to close up you nodded completely forgetting he couldnât see you, with a painful rasp you promised him that you would keep your promise.
The team shared glances at hearing Buckyâs mention of Peanut, unaware of what he was talking about. Due to Steveâs enhanced hearing his heart broke at hearing your voice sounding broken.
âI love you Y/n. I love youâ Bucky repeated softly as the tears streamed down both of your faces.
âSteve?â
âI-Iâm here mateâ
âYou need to get ev-everyone out of here, now. I-I canât hold on any longerâ
âB-Buck, Sam can get you out-â
âHe canât and you know it. It-it wonât work alright, no point in two families grieving. But Stevie you need to pro-promise that me that youâll take care of Y/n, please I donât want her to be left aloneâ
âBucky if you hold on for five minutes Sam can get you out-â Tony says as he tried to fix the right wing that had been damaged earlier that day.
âI donât have five minutes. Okay I-I donât have that alright, please you all need to leaveâ
âBuck-â
âLeave! Just get everyone out of here, please Steveâ
âO-okay. Okay everyone get out, now.â The agents start leaving but the Avengers donât. Tony was still trying to fix Samâs wing, getting frustrated as the wires and pieces werenât connecting properly, even Tonyâs suit was too damaged to use. None of them wanted to leave him alone.
âSteve, itâs okay. Itâs okay just promise to look after Y/n, youâve only have a few minutes left to get out so please guys, just go.â
Reluctantly they do as he says, knowing that it was no use arguing with him. Both Sam and Tony have to drag Steve out as he refused to move, to leave him best friend to die.
âW-weâre outside Buckâ Steve says through his comms, standing far enough away from the base he clinged onto Tonyâs arm.
âGood. Baby are you still there? Hey, hey itâs okay, everythingâs going to be okay I swear. I love you and Peanut so fucking much baby. Iâm sorry princess, I really am. Baby? I have to go now alright, I love youâ everyone bowed their heads at hearing Buckyâs words.
Bucky closes his eyes and smiles softly as the last image heâs ever going to see is of his greatest love. Slowly he moves his foot off the bomb.
Steve tried to keep up his promise but it wasnât working as Y/n kept pushing him away. He understood that she was grieving but so was he but he also made a promise to his best friend. He couldnât let Bucky down.
A month after that fateful day it was time to bury the remains of Buckyâs body. The team went back into the base after the smoke and fire cleared, all disobeying the direct orders from Fury, they refused to leave without Bucky. It wasnât fair on him or on Y/n. For the first time in that month they had seen her, she didnât answer their phone calls or answered the door when they went to the apartment she shared with Bucky.
As they stood by the side of the coffin watching as it went into the ground, Y/n looked up to the sky and smiled sadly. They all noticed her hand placement.
âY/n, a-are you?â Steve asked.
âFour months, Buck wanted to tell you but I told him it was too soon. I-it was three months the day, that day, anyway thatâs why he was retiring, he wanted to be there for Peanutâ she said softly.
âH-he was retiring?â
âHe gave Fury his notice, he only had a week left before he retiredâ
The news of hearing that he only had one week left made their stomachs hurt. He was so close to being free from fighting and raising a family with his love.
âY/n-â
âDonât apologise okay, I know heâs still here with us. Please donât be strangers alright? Iâll see you aroundâ Before they could reply she was already walking away from them.
As she gave birth she had Steve on one side and Wanda on the other, both ignoring the throbbing pain in their hands as she squeezed them.
âHeâs gorgeous Y/n, whatâs the little manâs name?â Nat asked as soon as they were allowed in the room to see the newest member of their family.
âBuck said if the baby was a boy he wanted him to be named after him so, James Stevie Barnesâ
Nobody was aware that the Bucky was in the room, he stood at the bottom of the bed watching with admiration in his eyes at his love with her arms around their son. His arm on the shoulder of his mom Winnie. The two stood there long after everyone had left, Y/n and baby James had gone to sleep.
Placing a kiss to his sonâs head he told him that he would always watch over him. Moving to the bed he did the same to Y/n.

Walking into your apartment, you come to a halt. You hear noises of pleasure. Looking into your bedroom you see your boyfriend of 3 years having sex with your best friend. You should be devastated of the betrayal, but you simply canât however you do have to stifle that booming laughter from clawing its way out. You just walk back out the door quietly shutting the door and head back to the tower.Â
You work for Tony as an âassistantâ more like you get paid a ridiculous amount of money just to make sure Tony eats and drinks and not sleep in his lab. Curtsy of Pepper. Both look at you as their daughter which is great as you donât have a good relationship with your parents. You absolutely adore them and the team. They are your family.Â
Speaking of family, theyâre all sat in the common room talking about something you canât quite hear. Samâs the first one to see you, smiling wildly he then looks confused. âWhat you doing here sugar mamaâ.
âYeah thought you headed homeâ. Comes the voice of your red headed friend Natasha.
âOh yeah um I walked in on Joe fucking Stacey in my bed so thought Iâd come back here, didnât want to disturb their rompâ. You say it like itâs nothing, and if youâre completely honest itâs true. It doesnât bother you that your boyfriend is sleeping with your best friend.
Itâs not the first time he cheated, it happened once and he told you afterwards apparently the guilt got to him. That was a lie, the other woman found out about you so she blackmailed him to tell you. Ever the fool you forgave him he promised not to do it again. You found out about him and Stacey two months ago when Stacey gave you her phone to look through a photo of you two and thatâs when you found the videos of them going at it. Then that night whilst he was passed out next to you, you went through his phone to look at his messages between them, theyâd been sleeping together for 3 months, he needed his needs to be met and ever the desperate mess she is she let herself be the other woman. You had been busy everyday with the team rebuilding the tower after the latest attack so naturally sex was the last thing on your mind. At first it hurt because sheâs been your friend since you were little and you were very much in love with him but now you find it funny. Funny because she told you three months ago she had STDs. He obviously doesnât know. And thatâs why itâs hilarious.
You tell your family this, theyâre angry. But you told them you didnât care anymore the only reason why you was still with him was because of the lease of your apartment. You told them that every time you saw him you wanted to laugh. And that it didnât matter anyway as you was in love with someone else.
Tony being Tony had already got in touch with your apartment manager to get you off the lease then an hour later youâre back at your apartment with your family behind you. Walking in you see Stacey still there, she smiles at you but you donât give the gesture back. âHey boo I just got here wanted to see if you wanted to g-â her sentence is cut off by Natasha slamming her into the wall. Nats never been a fan. Joe stands frozen looking confused as everyone starts packing your stuff for you, he pathetically attempts to talk to you but gets cut off by Buckys metal fist to his mouth. The team donât even bat an eye to it but youâre slightly taken back by the punch.
âYou ever go near her again or even look at her I will kill you. Try and talk to her I will kill you. Do you understand?â Bucky growls âdo you understandâ. He shakes Joe by his shirt.
âYes yes I understand!â He then looks at you âbaby whatâs this aboutâ he spits the blood out of his mouth.
You look around checking your stuff is gone before you step over to him and Bucky. âIf I was you Iâd get yourself checked, sheâs riddled with stdsâ Nudging you head in the direction of your now ex best friend. âOh also the moans she was letting out an hour ago was fake. Your little pecker isnât great. Ok bye byeâ You laugh as you hook your arm with Bucks left one and all of you take your leave.Â
Later that night youâre on the rooftop admiring the view when you hear someone clearing their throat behind you.Â
âHey I didnât mean to startle youâÂ
âYou didnât BuckâÂ
âSo I um whoâs the person youâre in love with?âÂ
âYouâ Why did you just admit that god damn it now heâs goin-
He kisses you. The kind of kiss thatâs full of love and passion the kind that takes the wind out of you. âIâm in love with you tooâ. His voice is raspy before you can speak heâs talking again âwill you go on a date with me?â You canât vocalise your reply so you nod enthusiastically.

Staring at herself in the mirror Y/N didnât recognise the person staring back. The blackish purplish bruise on her cheek was too dark and big to cover up, the open cut on her eyebrow stung ever so slightly. No matter how much it pained her seeing her own reflection, she simply couldnât pull her eyes away.
It started four months in to their relationship, it was just a smack across the face which he apologised profusely for and the next day she had woken up to flowers and more apologies. A few months or so later the smacking turned to punches, punches turned to kicking, kicking turned to having objects thrown at her. At first there was a âreasonâ for the abuse she suffered, but now all she had to do was breathe in his direction and she would be on the receiving end of his rage.
He controlled every aspect of her life especially her food intake, she was so skinny now because of him. The reason for the most recent beating was because the woman he was interested in refused his advances, and because of that Y/N was black and blue with cuts littering her very slim frame.
During the meal she had prepared for him she sat in her usual spot - the floor - whilst he ate and spoke about his shift at work, she paid no attention until âwe arrested the prick, he beat his wife up! He beat his pregnant wife up and had the audacity to tell us it was her fault! Y/N he blamed her that prick!â It was ironic that he was calling another abuser a prick but when he did the exact same thing to her, it was out of love.
Later on that night he was getting mad at the football game that was on, his team was losing and she knew she was going to be punished.
After the game had ended the only sounds that filled the apartment was the muffled cries and pleading and the sounds of his fists plummeting down on her timid body. Bless his poor little heart, his fists started to hurt but his anger was still at full force, so he made his way to the bedroom to grab his âfavouriteâ belt. On his was he kicked her in her chest.
She knew, she knew that if she didnât get away she was not going to survive and with his finding the belt she managed to drag her frail body into the kitchen, surprising herself with the strength she had left of pulling her body up against the counter to grab the knife. She was going to end it all.
His footsteps echoed loudly in the now quiet apartment, he stops and stares at her with nothing but fire in his eyes. âWhatcha gonna do with the knife bunny? Huh? Gonna stab yourself? You wish bitch! Iâm the one that gets to kill you!â And then he lunged himself at her. Letting out a scream with her eyes closed she felt warm liquid on her dominant hand, slowly opening her eyes she sees him gasping for breath, his eyes darting back and forth between her eyes and her hand, where the knife was wedged in his stomach. Itâs felt like forever with them both looking at the knife until she finally pushed him backwards. They both fell to the ground at the same time.
Y/N couldnât take her eyes from him even long after his chest stopped rising and falling. Before she knew it the sun had made an appearance, decorating the destroyed space in a warm orange, rosy hue. The pain throbbing her entire body faded rather quickly and was replaced with panic. She murdered her boyfriend, albeit he was abusive but mutrdered him nonetheless.Â
Pulling up her weaken form of the ground she took fearful steps to where she knew her phone was, picking it up with shaking hands she dialled the only number she knew off by heart.
âHello⌠Y/N? You there doll?â
âH-hi I know we hav-havenât spoken in a while but B-Bucky I need your helpâ
âWhere are you doll?â
âMy um my apartmentâ
âIâm on my way okay, donât worryâ
Not even 5 minutes later there was a knock at the door which made her jump, when she gathered what little strength she had left, she opened the door. Standing in the hallway was the only man she was ever in love with, the first person to ever break her heart - not that he meant to - the man who she hadnât seen nor spoken to in two and a half years. Bucky.
Oh and the rest of the avengers was standing behind him.
His face dropped and paled at the sight before him - the only woman he was ever in love with, the first person to break his heart, the woman he hasnât seen nor spoken to in two and a half years. But this woman wasnât necessarily the same woman who captured his heart the second he laid eyes on her. No, no this was a woman covered in blood, bruises and cuts. Whose eyes held so much pain and terror.Â
Stumbling a little bit and refusing to pull his eyes away from her âbaby wh-what happenedâ
âI-I-I-I ki-killed him Bucky didnât mean to I swear just wa-wanted him to sto-pâ Her whole body shuck whilst stuttering, trying to get the words out without spluttering was extremely difficult for her to do with the tears pouring out and a hiccup here and there.
At her confession Tony and Steve pushed everyone into the once cosy apartment, they all saw the chaos, blood and finally the body of the man they all hated. Bucky gently took Y/N hand in his and made his way to the bedroom with the team trailing behind, he sat her down on the bed and knelt in front of her. Once she had finished telling them what she had been through the past few years and what she had done to him in the early hours, there wasnât one single dry eye. The anger radiating off the team was justifiable.
Steve made Bucky and Wanda take Y/N back to the tower and get Dr Cho to take care of her wounds, whilst the teams stayed to clean up the mess.
It was late in the afternoon her body laid in the hospital that seemed way too big for her, she slept peacefully. Bucky had refused to leave her side and held her hand, every now and again he would place kisses to her knuckles. When she awoke her nonbiological family was dotted around the room. He was the first one to noticed she had woken up, he cooed her back to sleep with the promise that everything was okay, that no matter what he wasnât leaving her ever again.
For once in two and a half years she was finally free and safe with the man she loves.
Itâs been a year since that dreadful night. The cuts and bruises had long faded, the nightmares came in waves. No charges were pressed against her, but she did have to go to therapy which obviously she was grateful for. Tony refused to let her go back to the apartment, giving her her own room in the tower, even gave her a job. The whole team did their part in her recovery in anyway they could. Bucky refused to leave her side for weeks, always on guard even when he didnât need to.
âI let you down Y/n I should of protected youâ
âdonât be silly Buck, it was my own faultâ
âNo it wasnât! donât think that please babyâ
âWell stop blaming yourself thenâ
It took a while for both of them to realise that what had happened was neither of their faults.
Falling asleep in Buckys arms she hears him whispering âI love you, I promise you Iâm never going to give you up againâ
âI love you too and Iâm holding you to that promise Buckoâ
âI filed for divorceâ kept playing on his mind for the rest of the night long after she had gone to bed. His phone kept going off nonstop, the messages and missed calls all from Sharon.
He stayed at the home he shared with his wife and children for four hours waiting, hoping his beautiful wife who he betrayed would come back down the stairs and tell him she forgave him.
It never happened.
He left, getting into the car his wife brought him, the same car he fucked his mistress in and went straight to Sharonâs. Knocking on the door he only had to wait for a few minutes before the wooden door came swinging open.
âYou finally showed, Iâve been waiting for ages! We need to talkâ Sharon stands there, red eyed as if she had been crying.
âSheâs divorcing meâ Walking past her and looking around the room heâd been in so many time before - double date nights, just seeing his best friend, cheating on his wife with his best friendâs wife.
âHeâs divorcing me tooâ Her voice was happier than his. âNow we can be together, I had to cry in front of Steve pretending I cared. Then you wouldnât pick up your phone I wa-â
âI donât want you Sharon. I want Y/n. I want my children and my best friend back. Me and you biggest mistake I have ever made!â Cutting her off.
âYouâre joking right? We are so perfect together not me and Steve and especially not you and that bitch!â
âDonât. Donât you dare call my wife a bitchâ he seethes.
âDonât act like you care now Bucky where was that caring nature of yours when you was sleeping with me for 8 months? And news flash sheâs divorcing you sheâs not going to get back with you!â
Having her remind him of the stone cold truth hit him in the gut. Sharon was right, his wife was divorcing him. She was never going to get back together with him.
âI donât care if sheâs divorcing me just donât call her a bitch.â
âOkay, how about we donât talk about them two okay? Hereâs what I was thinking, Iâm getting the house in the divorce so Iâll just sell it and me and you can get an apartment together? We can buy all new furniture and it can be a fresh start for us and oh Iâve already found -â.
As Sharon stands there rambling on he had the urge to ring his wife and tell her she was wrong. Sharon did want him now that they were divorcing, sheâs even planned to sell her house so they can get an apartment together. Y/n was wrong about that Sharon and himself couldnât run off into the sunset and live happily ever after because he stood there with his mistress in front of him and having to hear her rambling off about their new future together.
His wife who he loves more than anything in this world was wrong.
Because it wasnât Sharon that didnât want him now their affair was known to their spouses. It was him. He was the one that didnât want her, he didnât want the apartment with Sharon, he didnât want a fresh start with his best friends soon to be ex-wife. No, he wanted his wife back. He wanted a fresh start with Y/n so he can get a second chance of being better. He wanted the love of his life back, and he wanted Steve back - he knew himself that Steve wouldnât forgive him for his part of her affair.
â-Bucky? Bucky are you even listening to me?â Sharonâs voice cut his inner monologue off.
âHuh? Oh yeah sorryâ
âYou wasnât listening was you? Itâs okay silly bum I was just talking about an apartment I found the other day, oh Buck itâs beautiful and I honestly think it would be perfect for usâ Her voice was hopeful and excited. He found himself comparing her voice to the one belonging to his wife when she found the house that became their home.
âSharon this isnât going to workâ
âOf course it will, I love you and you love meâ
âNo Sharon I donât. I donât love you, I will always love Y/nâ
âNo! No you donât James! You love me!â Sharon screamed at him.
Sighing âListen Sharon I donât love you, I never had. I have never been attracted to you-â
âNever been attracted to me? Youâre joking right?â
âNoâ
âYou prick!â
âWe wouldnât work anyway Sharon. You cheated on Steve with me and I cheated on Y/n with you. We would always accuse each other, we wouldnât be happy I can promise you thatâ
âN-no you wouldnât cheat on me though!â
âI cheated on my WIFE! You really think I wouldnât do it to you? I love her for Christ sake, sheâs the only person I have ever been attracted to! When I was fucking you I was thinking of her! Câmon Sharon donât be so stupid, it doesnât suit youâ Heâs only now regretting coming over here, at the time he didnât know where else he could go.
âYo-you ruined my marriage Jamesâ he watched her struggle to breathe for a moment âyou ruined my marriage!â
âNo I didnât, you did. You are the one that made a vow to Steve not me. Like how I ruined my marriage with Y/n not you.â
âYou-we made love Jamesâ
âWe fucked. We didnât make love Sharonâ rolling his eyes at her petty attempt at making him change his mind.
âI-donât-you donât want me now? But you did earlier? You fucked me in your car, went home and get confronted by your wife, then you come here and tell me you donât want me anymore? Is that what youâre trying to tell me right now?â Her anger and tears were on full display.
âIâm sorry. I am. Itâs just I love Y/n more than anything. Iâm going to go; Iâll see you around I guessâ he was just about to touch the door handle when her voice stopped him.
âFuck me one last time. Please Jamesâ.
And ever the fool, he did.

The months after she told him she had filed for divorce she flourished, no more crying herself to sleep, no more fake smiles and no more faking confidence. She was the happiest she had been since she caught her husband fucking a woman that was most definitely not her. Her and Steveâs friendship grew too, they became closer than ever. They were each otherâs shoulder to cry on, they supported one another when they needed it.
But then came their divorce to being finalised, and thatâs where Y/n struggled.
Nat had forced convinced her to go and see a therapist, Dr Grey was a lovely woman who didnât care about telling her to stop putting herself down, happily called her stupid when she blamed herself for the affair. Dr Grey - Linda as she told Y/n to call her - became a good friend, a friend she needed and wanted.
In the aftermath of her divorce she became isolated, she didnât want to see or hear anyone that wasnât her children. Sam being the best friend that he is, would pick up the kids and take them to school and drop them back off. Nat would go to the shops and sometimes even cook them dinner. She felt like she was causing problems for Nat and Sam because they were spending so much time running around after her that they couldnât spend any time together.
âDonât be stupid Y/n. You know me and Sam love you, we are more than happy to helpâ Nat spoke one night when they were lying in bed together.
âI feel like Iâm causing problems and I donât want you two to argue becau-â
âY/n stop! Youâre not causing problems and we are not arguing, like at all. You know Sam loves them kids of yours, he actually loves taking them to school because and I quote âthey make me feel coolââ both women chuckle at the red heads husband âso stop ĐźĐ¸ĐťĐ°Ń Đ´ĐľĐ˛ŃŃка, we are both here for you, I promiseâ
She cried herself to sleep most nights, cried for the loss of her marriage - for weeks she would find herself going to play with the ring that use to sit on her fourth finger only for her to look down and only see a fading white tan line. Signing her maiden name not married one took months to engrain as she was just so use to writing Barnes after her name. She would find herself reaching out to the other side of the brand new double sized bed searching for his warmth, always finding it empty, always leaving her feeling alone and cold.
She cried the loss of her friendship with Sharon. They had been friends for nearly three years prior to Sharon introducing her and Bucky to each other. She was the first person Y/n would phone whenever something good and bad happened, she was actually the first person to know Y/n was pregnant with her oldest child - hell it was Sharon that told her she was pregnant as she couldnât bring herself to look at it. Y/n was always there for Sharon night or day she was there. The pain of her betrayal was almost more unbearable than Buckyâs.
Her mental and physical health took a toll too. Constantly blaming herself for not being enough for him, blaming herself for being tired sometimes to not have sex with him. Blaming herself was so much easier and safer for her than to blame the two people who hurt her. Her weight loss was concerning to Nat and Sam, although she would find herself hungry she just couldnât stomach anything. Nat cleaned the house whilst Sam took the kids to the park as Y/n had a shower for the first time in nearly a month, she felt like she could conquer the world all because she showered, washed her hair and shaved.
Then she accepted the divorce. She accepted that she was no longer someoneâs wife, she even (more dramatically) accepted that sheâd be single for the rest of her life. With the help from Linda she accepted that Buckyâs affair was not her fault.
~~~
It had now been two years since they were officially divorced.
Y/n made a friend at work, Peggy. Beautiful, kind and the sweetest person. She had set her up with Steve to help him get himself back out there, theyâd been dating for nearly a year. Y/n couldnât believe how much happier he looked now, she was happy for him truly she was. She believed he deserved it.
Dating for her was, wellâŚ.
âYouâre absolutely glowing ангоНâ Nat whistled as Y/n walked into the kitchen.
âStop flirting with meâ
âI canât help it ĐźĐ¸ĐťĐ°Ń Đ´ĐľĐ˛ŃŃкаâ
âSam come and get your wife!â
âWhatâs going on?â Sam asks coming to where the women were, placing a kiss on Y/nâs temple then giving Nat a quick kiss.
âYour wife keeps flirting with meâ
Wiggling his eyebrows âwell things can be arrangedâ
âSamuel!â Both women scold him but shortly after burst out laughing.
âNo but I was telling her that she was glowingâ Nat informed.
âYou are, you seem happier as wellâ Sam agreed.
âWell⌠ikindofmetsomeoneâ
âWhat!â Both Sam and Nat shout in unison.
âI met someone..â
âWho?â When? Where? How?â Y/n rolled her eyes at the pair talking in tandem.
âHis name is Ari. I literally bumped into after I ran out of the cafe after setting Steve and Peggy up on their dateâ.
âIs he good to you?â
âYeah, and heâs great with the kidsâ
âWaitâŚheâs met the kids?â
âYeah it was an accident, James said he couldnât take the kids because of work and Ari came to pick me up for our date but ended up staying at mine. The kids love himâ.
âI canât wait to meet him!â Nat smiles.
~~~
Bucky hadnât seen Sharon after he left the next morning, he felt ashamed and guilty for sleeping with her. For some bizarre reason he thought it would be a great idea to go to Nat and Samâs to talk to Steve.
âAbsolutely not. Youâre not coming in Buckâ
âPlease Sam I know heâs here, I jus- I just need to talk to himâ
âAbout what? Jesus Bucky you were having an affair with his wife!â
âI know I just need to apologiseâ He heard movement behind Sam, when he saw Steveâs pained expression his heart sank.
âI donât want to hear any apologies. But you will listen to me.â Steve gives Sam a small nod, stepped further out of the doorway. âI have known you since we were kids and not once have I ever not trusted you. Not once have an ever wanted to punch you as much as right now. But.. but Iâm not going to, itâs not worth it. You betrayed me man! You knew how much I loved her! And thereâs Y/n, you had this perfect woman and you cheated on her!â Slightly shaking his head âyou-you had the perfect family and you fucked it up by fucking my wife! I was always jealous of you, did you know that? Sharon never wanted kids so when you told me Y/n was pregnant I was jealous. You two had this perfect relationship whilst me and her were arguing all the time, I was jealousâ swallowing hard and taking a deep breath âbut you see James as much as I wanted the life you had I would of never and I mean never of done what you have done!â
Bucky stands there with tears rolling down his cheeks, wanting to say something but the words just wouldnât come out.
âYou know when Y/n told me about the affair she couldnât stop apologising, couldnât stop crying, she even puked up. I had to calm your wife down trying to reassure her that what you did wasnât her fault! And where were you huh? Screwing my wife!â Chuckling lightly to himself. âMe and Y/n deserve so much better than you two. I really hope it was worth it James because I canât forgive you. And the fact you have the audacity to come here after spending the night with Sharon just proves how little you careâ when he sees Buckyâs eyebrow twitch in confusion he laughs âI really canât see Y/n giving you a hickey after sheâs told your sorry ass sheâs divorcing you. Goodbye James it was nice knowing youâ.
Y/n was right, he was alone. He had no one in his corner. Going through the divorce process was difficult for him, like she said she wasnât going to take anything from him. Custody had been split between them evenly as agreed. The part he was struggling with was, only being able to see her at the weekends, their conversations was just about the kids nothing more nothing less.
Then Sam started to do drop offs and pick up leaving him completely crushed. He no longer got to see her even if it was for 10 or if he was really lucky 15 minutes. The friendship he had with Sam and Nat became strained, he didnât blame them. He did miss them though.
To deal with the loss of his marriage he turned to drinking. Sometimes he would come home from the bar and call out for Y/n, cry when he got no response, 9 out of 10 times heâd fall over and then fall asleep on the floor.
Then that dreaded day came.
Sam had long gone after dropping the kids off, he was in the middle of cooking dinner with his oldest talking about school when he heard a name he hasnât heard before.
âSweetheart what was that?â
âMe and Tommy and Billy are now best friends theyâre new to schoolâ
âIâm glad but not that bit baby, you said someone helped you with your homework?â
âOh Ari, he helps me heâs so clever daddyâ
âWhoâs Ari?â
âMommyâs new friend. We saw them kissingâ giggling when her younger brother pulls a disgusting face.
Of course he knew that it would happen, her dating. Of course she would, she had every right to find happiness and love after he destroyed that for her. Any man would be lucky enough to be with her - sheâs funny, beautiful, loving, kind and passionate, the list goes on - he should know, he was once that lucky man before he fucked it all up.
The knowledge of his now ex-wife is dating again broke something inside of him. What? He doesnât quite know, he shouldnât have felt anything other than happiness for her.
~~~
It was their sonâs birthday party today, the squeals of close to 30 children running around the backyard full of sugar could be heard from down the street, most of their little faces decorated with face paint.
The birthday boy was currently bouncing around on the dinosaur themed bouncy castle - that he just had to have - after laying on the grass for 10 minutes complaining he was ill. Their oldest daughter was walking around showing the adults her butterfly wings that went with the butterfly paint on her face.
Y/n was rushing around making sure everything was okay and running smoothly as well and making sure everyone was having a good time. Bucky thought she looked absolutely breath taking in the white floral dress and white pumps. Her hair was up in two fishtail braids, just like his daughter.
It was the first time in two years that he saw Steve - like Y/n he looked happier, healthier, freer. The woman that was placed snuggly under his arm was beautiful and when Bucky noticed Steveâs hand position when talking to Sam he saw the pregnancy bump, Bucky couldnât help but smile at the sight of his former best friend finally getting his dream of being a dad.
The cheerful scream pulled his eyes away from Steve to his daughter who was running past him heading towards the sliding glass doors. A tall, well-built man stood at the doorway with a huge smile on his face.
âAri Ari - look mommy Ariâs hereâ
âI can see that sweetie-â
He started to struggle to breath, his own daughter was more happier to see this Ari guy than him, the smile that lit up Y/nâs beautiful face crushed him. Then it got worse for him. He watched as his former best friend go up to Ari and greeted him in the same way them two use to great each other.
Part 2
The day she found out her husband was having an affair it felt like time had stopped. Thousands of questions sworn inside her head, she didnât blame her husband or the other woman nope she blamed herself. It was her fault her husband was unfaithful, it was her fault she had not been enough for him, it was her fault for not satisfying his needs. It was her fault.Â
After the self-blaming and self-hating she moved on to anger. Angry at her husband betraying her, angry at the other woman - a woman she had called a friend for 15 years - angry at herself, just unadulterated anger.Â
Then came the self-pity party, where all she did was cry and cry and cry. She would stand in front of the full body mirror just in her underwear, picking at every single detail on her skin hating what she saw in the reflection. Then she would cry even more due to the fact that after finally loving and being kind to her own body, she was back to hating it. However, she didnât just feel sorry for herself, no, no she felt sorry for her husband, her children, her husbandâs mistress and the husband of her husbandâs mistress.
Oh and then there was denial - but that went straight out of her head pretty quickly, after all she did catch them going at it with her own two eyes.
And finally came acceptance. She accepted her husbandâs extra marital affair, she accepted that she had been betrayed by two people close to her. Completely aware that her marriage was over and dead.
Her heart remained broken though, that would never change.
~~~
The sound of the door opening use to bring a smile on Y/ns face, sending her straight to the door awaiting him like a goddamn lapdog. Now though all it did was make her wonder which excuse she was going to be given.Â
Sitting on the sofa with her knees pulled up staring at the tv screen, chuckling quietly to herself as Peter Griffin continues his antics, wondering to herself why Lois puts up with him. Already smelling the mistressâs perfume on him makes her roll her eyes.Â
âHey bab-â
âI filed for divorce.â
He actually has the audacity to act shocked âw-what do you mean? Bab-â
âStop. Just stop. I know about your affair, I know youâve been sleeping with Sharon for the past six months, probably longer I donât knowâ mumbling the last part quietly âbut all that matters is that I know so now weâre getting divorced.â
She sees him in her peripheral nervously shifting foot to foot, colour completely drained from his face, is that tears? Gross. Before he can even get a good enough excuse for his betrayal straight, she continues.
âDonât say anything itâs not going to change my mind or decision. I spoke with my lawyer who thinks Iâm being to kind - his words not mine - anyway I told him in donât want money or the house from you. Custody will be split between us evenlyâ standing up wrapping her arms around herself âyou know at first I wanted so many answers but now I just want to know one thing, do you think you can be honest for once? Do you actually think Sharon is going to want you know that Iâm leaving you? Think you both can run off into the sunset and live happily ever after?â Using a baby like voice at the end she chuckles at his expression, she canât tell if itâs heartbreak that sheâs leaving him or heartbreak that his mistress isnât going to want him anymore - laughable.Â
âThe answer is no by the way. I feel bad though, you both deserve each other. Both so wrapped up in your own selflessness that you were happy to ruin two marriages, two families! To betray, lie and deceive your spouses who happen to be friends! All for what? Sex?â Stepping back when he tries to reach out âdonât fucking touch me! Donât you dare try and touch me AFTER youâve been with her! What the actual fuck is wrong with you? And donât you dare stand there and cry! You did this, you both did. Oh and Steve knowsâ Literally as she said that his phone started ringing âGo ahead and answer itâs probably your best friend or your mistress, go ahead James and answerâ at the sound of his first name he flinched, he pulled his phone out and sighed, declining the call he looked back at the woman who he had the privilege of calling his wife. The mother of his children, the woman who he has loved from the moment he was introduced to her. The woman who he cheated on.
âIâm sorryâ is all he could say, he really didnât remember how the affair started or why on earth he continued it, he has this perfect wife at home, his other half his soulmate and he cheated, he couldnât even give her a good enough excuse. His guilt was hitting like a ton of bricks, he betrayed his wife and his best friend all for a quick fuck that wasnât even good.
âYouâre sorry? Iâm sorry too. Iâm sorry that when the morning comes, youâre going to have no one. I feel for you James honestly - stop swaying youâre making me feel seasick, sit down.â Watching him sit on the chair she moves to sit where she was originally sat before.
âListen I just want to get this off my chest before I go to bed okay, I have loved you so deeply that I honestly donât think Iâd ever stop loving you but James I canât forgive you, maybe one day in the future I will but not right now. I have been stood by your side through every single thing that has happened to you, and yet you betray me. I donât know what went wrong with us but whatever I did Iâm sorry-â when he tries to intervene she puts her hand up âJust listen! Iâm sorry that our story has ended this way but i canât trust you anymore or even stand the sight of you if Iâm being honest. You have given me something that I can't live without, you mustn't underestimate that when you are in doubt. But this is where our story ends.âÂ
Wiping her tears with the sleeve of her jumper, she stands up stronger and taller than ever before.Â
âYou can sleep on the sofa or head to Sharonâs I know Steve said heâd be staying with Sam and Nat. Tomorrow Iâll be taking the kids to our new house and then I guess weâll go from thereâ Shrugging her shoulders as she doesnât know what else to say to him. âGoodnight James, I truly hope you all the bestâ
Once in the comfort of her bedroom she listens to hear his movements but all she can hear are his cries. Smiling sadly, she climbs into the bed, she fears the unknowing of what her future holds whilst also excited for it.
For the first time since she found out about her husbandâs affair she sleeps peacefully.

When Fury rang her begging asking for her to come back for one final mission, she agreed with a condition, sheâd bring her old team with her. Fury accepted.
That had been two weeks ago.
Landing back in New York brought back many memories, some good - some bad and some she wish she couldnât remember.
âHi can you take me to Avengers Tower please?â Getting into the cab she tried desperately to calm down her nerves.
The sky was a visual of her emotions.
Dull.
Standing outside the huge impressive building she felt like she was going to be sick. Itâs been four years since she was last here.
âHi I have an appointment with Director Fury at 12âÂ
âThatâs fine, take a seat and Iâll let him know youâve arrivedâ
âThank youâ She didnât listen to Haley the receptionist, choosing to stand instead.
Fury came down not three minutes later with a small smile on his face. âIâve missed you - no touching I knowâ
âLetâs get this over with Nick. Sooner the betterâ
The man knew not to try and annoy her anymore so he lead her to the elevators, going up.
Her stomach squeezed tight at the sight of her former team huddled on one side of the table, with their back to her.
âTake a seatâ Fury whispered in her ear.
The moment that they saw her they were already shouting out their protests, she ignored them and listened to Fury by taking a seat to sit in.
âCalm down everyone. Now!â Fury slams his hand on the table causing everyone to fall silent. âNow, Y/n has agreed to help us with a missi-â
âWe wonât work with her Fury.â Steve interrupts.
âYou have no other option. No one else will or can help other then Y/nâ
âWeâll just do it ourselvesâ Tony shrugs.
âNo. This is happening, if none of you can play nice then youâll be sacked.â
âYou canât sack usâ Steve says with a scoff.
âI can and I will. Now Y/n I sent you over the details of what weâre up against, did you read it?â
âYesâ
âYour team, have you briefed them on everything?â
âYes Fury, and yes theyâre happy to helpâ. She rolls her eyes at Tony who mocks what she had just said.
âYou said in the email that youâve already paired people up from both teams, do you want to share it?â Like her Fury completely ignores Tonyâs childish behaviour.
Sliding over a piece of paper towards her former boss and friend she continues to talk âWhen you see them in training and you donât agree with my decision feel free to change it-â
âOh we will do sweetheartâ
Once again ignoring Tony âYou said that my team will be allowed to stay here, in the tower?â
âYeah Peppers done your rooms up herself, you should be gratefulâ
Turning her head towards the man she saw as a father figure not that long ago âWhen I see her Iâll give her my thanks.â Sighing she addressed the rest âYou have a problem with me, so you will take it out on me. Not my team, but me. Do not think for one second that just because of our history together you can treat my guys like shit. Theyâre good, hardworking fighters. Fury we have two weeks to train for this mission and if I find out my team isnât being respected or treated fairly I will not hesitate to pull them and myself out, is that understood?â
Furyâs eyebrow raise as he nods âI completely understand Y/n, welcome homeâ.
âMy team will be here tomorrow at 12, Iâll see you thenâ.
âDonât you want to know what room youâre going to be in?â Fury asked.
âNo, Iâm not staying here.â
âWhere?â
âNot here. See you tomorrow Furyâ.
Making a beeline for the elevator she takes her leave, itâs once sheâs outside of the building she gasps for air.
After her shower and nighttime routine she climbs into bed, her head was throbbing but all she was hoping for was a good night sleep.
It didnât happen.
âTony splash me with water one more time youâll regret it!â She laughs.
âWhat are you going to do huh?â
âIâll-Iâll smash up all your vinyl albumsâ
âOkay okay Iâll stopâ
â˘â˘â˘
âSteve wait up Iâve only got little legsâ
âSorry.â
âCanât you just carry me?â
âNope, come on weâre nearly there.â
â˘â˘â˘
âY/n will you marry me?â
âYes, Bucky Iâll marry youâ
â˘â˘â˘
âNatty get your bum out of bedâ
âDonât want tooâ
âOkay, Iâll come and cuddle with youâ
âYess!â
â˘â˘â˘
âY/n itâs an emergency come quickâ
âSam whatâs happening?â
âCome!â
She walked in on Tony fast asleep on Buckyâs shoulder.
â˘â˘â˘
âWand I love you, Iâm gonna marry you instead of Buckyâ
âY/n/n your drunkâ
âI knowâ
âWhy you sad for?â
âI donât knowâ
â˘â˘â˘
âBruce turn into Hulk so I can beat him upâ
âWhy do you want to beat him up?â
âBecause⌠leave me aloneâ
â˘â˘â˘
âThor guess what?â
âWhat?â
âYour so beautiful and I hope you so much happinessâ
âLa-Lady Y/n,give me a hugâ
â˘â˘â˘
Opening the door, her heart broke at the sight of-
Gasping for breath, she sat up in bed. Itâs been almost two years since she last had a dream turned nightmare about her former team.
The red numbers on the clock stated it was 4:33 in the morning, laying back down she grabbed the remote and turned on the telly, there was no way she was getting any more sleep now.
Getting to the Tower a little bit earlier, she sat in her car waiting for her team to arrive. An hour later a text message popped up from her colleague and confidant stating they had arrived she got out of her car.
Greeting them all and introducing them to Fury who said to her.
âYou could of come inside you knowâ
âI didnât want toâ Leaving him to sigh in response.
Introductions between both teams were done and it was straight onto business.
âSo what powers do you lot have then?â Tony asks.
âNone. Weâre all human, Marleyâs a witch thoughâ Douglas your closest friend replied.
âOh. So why are you here if you donât have abilities?â
âWe follow Y/n wherever she goesâ
âWhy? Sheâs a tra-â
âTony enoughâ Fury interrupted. âNow on to business, the organisation going by The Lords have been on our radar for quite some time now, recently theyâve been getting more cockyâ Fury turns around to face the screen, image after image of buildings up in flames, innocent people covered in blood, dead bodies littering the streets were shown to them.Â
âWe need to have them stopped. In just over two weeks theyâve planned to attack a government base, but weâre going to be taking the fight to them.â
âHow?â Colleen - the woman who saved Y/nâs life ten years ago - asks.
âWeâve got their location-â
âWhy donât you just get themâ Douglas nods his head to the team on the other side of the table âjust to drop a bomb on the bad guys?â
âWe need them alive so we can question themâ
âOkay⌠but why all this man power?â Marco says.
âWhat is it with you lot always asking questionsâ Nat says with an eye roll.
Y/n sighed, looked at Fury âMarco has a point but I already know the answer, so Iâll be the one that fills him in. We should probably start the training, everyone knows what this missio-sorry I need to take thisâ. Getting up she answers her phone âHi baby-â
Bucky hasnât been able to take his eyes off of her from the moment she sat down. Her hair is so much shorter than it used to be, it suits her. A long jagged scar went across her cheek was new, he wondered how it happened. Seeing her sit there hands placed in her lap, her shoulders tensed up and a blank expression on her face makes him conflicted on his emotions towards the woman he was planning on spending the rest of his life with.
His heart tinged with sadness when he saw the small incrusted diamond ring with two small love hearts sitting on her finger, the finger his ring for her use to take up residence.
He wishes he could take her hand in his so he could rub his thumb over her knuckles, just like he use to whenever she was in that position as he knew it meant she was uncomfortable.
But he knew she didnât have the right to his affection anymore not after she betr-
His thoughts are cut off as she stands, bringing her phone to her ear, greeting the person on the other end of the line with âHi babyâ.
A scowl made its way onto his face. Not that he had any right to do so.
âHow are you? And donât say youâre okay because I know better loveâ Douglasâs rough Scottish accent comes from next to her.
âIâm⌠Iâll be fine Doug, the sooner weâre done with this the sooner everything will be okayâ
âYo-you donât have to do this, me and the team will tak-â
âDonât. Everything will be fine after Iâve done this Dougie, you and the guys will be fine.â
They sit in silence. Doug didnât like the plan she was going through with but heâs known her for years and knows she isnât going to change her mind.
After training with the Avengers Y/n left, despite Fury telling her to stay and have dinner with them. Douglas left straight after the awkwardness of dinner was done, and being the only person who knew where she was staying, he headed straight there.
She brought this house for her and Bucky to live in after they retired, which they both agreed would be just before they married.
The home was beautiful, four bedrooms with two bathrooms, a large living room, kitchen with a pantry off the side of it, dinning room, an office that she had already planned to turn into a man cave for him. Two car garage, backyard was huge with a beautiful willow tree - as soon as she saw it she knew she had to have the house.
Bucky never knew about the house, she wanted to surprise him. It never happened obviously, and with a heavy heart she rented the house out.
The previous renters contract was up a month before she got the phone call from Fury, and there was no way she was going to stay in the tower. So she went to the place she wanted to call home.
âHave you spoke to them?â Doug asked breaking the silence.
âYeah, driving Fran up the wallâ. She laughs causing him to join in.
âShe loves them thoughâ He chuckles.
Nodding with a soft smile, âYou should get back itâs getting late, Iâll see you tomorrowâ
âYouâre rightâ Standing up he pulls her into a hug, kissing her forehead he whispers âDonât push me away love, not nowâ
That night she had the same dream as the night before, waking up at the exact same time again.
A week had been and gone, training was going good for both teams; apart for her. None of the Avengers held back, her body throbbed and ached after each session.
Today was the only day where Fury had to step in, seeing Y/n struggle against Wandaâs powers, he had to stop it.
Wanda had Y/n pinned against the wall and slowly dragging her up it, the whole room went quiet. The Avengers moved closer to the redhead whilst Y/nâs team moved closer to her.
âMar-Marley donât!â Y/n managed to rasp out to her friend.Â
Marley though small was deadly, her powers being similar to that of Wandaâs âSheâs crushing your chest!â She shot back.
âI-itâs ok-okayâ
âWanda put her down!â Fury demanded.
âNo. Sheâs a traitor, she betrayed all of usâ
âWanda!â Fury started to get nervous for the woman being pinned to the wall.
When Wandaâs eyes shot towards Marley, Y/n grew scared. She didnât want either one of them hurting each other. âMarl-Marley stop! T-thatâs an or-order!â
âSheâs hurting you. And sheâs lying!â
âNo she isnât. Sheâs a traitorâ Tony shouted.
âAdmit it and Iâll let you go гОНŃйиŃаâ Wanda smiles.
Even with the pain of her chest being crushed it didnât hurt nearly as much as the pet name slipping from her former best friends lips.
âAdmit. It. Y/n.â Everyone aside from Wanda flinched at the sound of Y/nâs ribs breaking.
Y/n bit the inside of her cheek, hard enough to draw blood. She wasnât going to give Wanda the satisfaction of seeing or hearing the pain she was going through. She held Wanda gaze, both women refusing to backdown.
âD-DougâŚge-get Marley out of h-hereâ.
She sees in the corner of her eye Douglas struggling to pull Marley with him. âIf the little girl wants to play, letâs do itâ Wanda says breaking eye contact with Y/n to look towards Marley.
âNo! N-no donât!â
âAdmit it then Y/n, admit to your team that youâre nothing but a liar and a traitorâ Wanda screams.
âIt wasnât her!â Fury shouted, taking in a shuddering breath afterwards.
âWhat?â Steveâs eyes bounce from Y/n to Fury.
âShe wasnât the one who betrayed us.â
âLiar!â Wanda screams again just as she brings Y/nâs body away from the wall, throwing her back into it.
âIâm not lying Maximoff! Now let her go!â Fury shouted.
âSh-she betrayed u-us!â Y/nâs heart broke at the sight of the tears filling up in Wandaâs eyes.
âShe didnât lass.â Douglas says as he still struggles to gain somewhat of control over Marley.Â
The hold on Y/n was released as she drops to the floor gasping for air. Her team run straight over to her as well as Fury who looks over at the other team with disappointment in his eyes.
âI-Iâm okayâ Y/n mumbles before succumbing to the darkness.Â
âWhat the hell do you think youâre doing?â Dr Cho asks when she sees Y/n trying to get out of the bed.
âI need to le-leaveâ
âYouâve just had your breast bone fractured and several ribs broken Y/n. You need to restâ
âIâm leavi-â
âNo youâre not love, you need to stayâ Douglas speaks from the doorway.
âI-I need to speak to them, itâs sixâ
âYou need rest soldier, come on Iâll even stay with you, itâll be like old times ay?â He smiled softly at the woman he respected more than anyone.
âBu-â
âNo buts my sweet girl, back in bed nowâ He gives Helen a nod before climbing into the bed with Y/n. âGet some rest love, Iâve got youâ.
The next day Y/n wakes up in an empty hospital bed. Removing the wires from her, she stands up and carefully puts her clothes back on.
She crept out of the room and down the corridor, knowing exactly where she needed to go.
Hearing the raised voices coming from the briefing room, she took in a deep breath before slowly exhaling.
â-your concern Scottieâ
âIt is when the witch tries to kill my friendâ.
âFriendâ Bucky scoffs.
âWhatâs that suppose to mean?â
âI see the way you look at herâ
âDonât be stu-â
âDoug stop.â Y/n says as she walks in.
âWhat are you doing here? Your meant to be restingâ
âIâm fineâ.
Marco pulls out a chair for her, gesturing for her to sit smiling at the woman who saved his life time after time.
âIâm going to say what I have to say then Iâm leaving, donât worry Nick my team will still helpâ
âWhat about you?â
âIâll be there, canât exactly back out of a deal now can I?â Furyâs eyebrows furrowed with confusion and Bucky noticed Douglas tensing at her words.
Sighing deeply, she closes her eyes âSit or stand I donât care but hereâs the truth- I was the one that did betray you. Iâm not sorry eitherâ
âY/n stop lying!â Fury says.
ââŚfine. It was Sharon.â
âThatâs a lie!â Steve shouts.
âNo itâs not. You see Steve, she was fucking you but she wanted your best friend. She wanted me out of the way, I didnât even know that you lot were branding me as a traitor until Hydra found me several months later. Oh and I also killed Sharonâ.
The Avengers sit there searching their memories from four years ago, and sure enough everything they were told was by Sharon.
âWait what do you mean you killed her?â Steve asks.
âI put a round of bullets into her head, she was there with Hydra when they came knockingâ She shrugged.
âBut th-then that means you didnât betray us?â Tony wheezes out.
âIâm many things but Iâm loyal to a faultâ
âIâm so-â
âDonât. I donât want to hear any apologies. Not from any of you. Fury Iâm gonna go now, Iâll see you on the day of the mission.â
Leaving the room before anyone can say anything she heads back to the house.
*Four years ago.*
The nausea was driving her insane, she was on her way back from a mission with a handful of SHIELD agents who could hear her gagging in the back of the quinjet. Nothing was happening for her though.
âTalk to Cho and see if itâs something you ate or somethingâ Lucas said to her as she came and sat down.
âYeah I mightâ
And she did just that, getting off the jet she headed straight to medical bay. Telling Helen all her symptoms the nurse tells her to undo her suit and lay on the bed.
âWhat the hell is that noise?â
Chuckling âThatâs a heartbeat, wait no thereâs two. Look-â
âWhat? How?âŚWhat?â She always wanted to be a mum but Bucky thought he couldnât have children because of what Hydra did to him.
âTwo strong hearts, youâre having twins Y/n congratulations darlingâ Helen beams.
Itâs only as she was zipping her suit back up she noticed the small prodding bump. Smiling she walks through the corridors subtly touching her stomach as she goes, reaching the common room she sees her friends - her family.
âHey, whereâs Bucky?â Sheâs asks.
âHeâs in your twos roomâ Steve says with a smile.
âOkay thanksâ Reaching the door to hers and Buckyâs room she didnât realise that the team had followed her, with a smirk on their faces.
Opening the door, her heart broke at the sight of Buckyâs bottom half covered by the quilt moving back and forth and Natasha underneath him with her arms around his neck.
Natasha was the first one to see her, with a smirk playing on her lips she taps Buckyâs shoulder making him look at the doorway. His face completely void of showing any resemblance of emotion.
The team honestly expected Y/n to say anything, something, but not a single word comes from her mouth.
Instead she vanishes into thin air. The only sound for them to hear was her engagement ring clinking off the floor.
*Seven months after.*
Y/n did the most cliche of things, by moving to the middle of nowhere. She had a three bed cottage with acres of land.
It became her sanctuary. The one place she felt at peace, at home.
Most nights she didnât sleep and if she did she was plagued by the images of Bucky in bed with Natasha. Tossing and turning throughout the night with silent tears streaming down her cheeks, the only thing that she had left in this world was her unborn babies and Roxy the fox that would come to see her every night.
At 8 months pregnant with the twins she was huge. She didnât know what she was having, nor did she have a scan, which did sadden her. Luckily for her though the pregnancy was going smoothly.Â
It was turning ten oâclock at night on a Thursday, she knew something was wrong when Roxy hadnât showed up. The hairs on her arms stood to attention, Y/n could feel the air changing - becoming toxic.
âLittle pig little pig I know youâre in thereâ A loud rough voice came from outside.
âWhatever youâre selling Iâm not buyingâ She shouted back.
âNot selling anything sweetheart, youâve got something that belongs to us.â The voice says again causing her to roll her eyes.
Creeping as much as she possibly could with an 8 month pregnancy bump towards the window leaving her to mutter out a quiet âfuckâ as she sees the two dozen men outside, armed and ready for a fight. Rolling her eyes once again at the symbol embroidered on their chest of the suits they wore.
Hydra.
She hated that she just couldnât snap into thin air, more than ever right now. She had tried it a few times - like the time she ventured out in public to go to the store, and she was standing there in the middle of isle three when she had an accident. The most humiliating thing she ever endured. Trying so hard to disappear even as she tried to helped the young woman who worked there clean up her mess.
Even after she left the store without her things she walked as fast as she could to the beat up jeep she had, trying desperately to get it to work, nothing happened.
For weeks after that event she kept trying but always failed. It had only happened once and that was many years ago now, it was when she was shot in the leg. Her emotions were all over the place, she was only fourteen. It hit her that it was because of the twins she couldn-
âCome on Y/n youâve got no where to run, youâve got no one to help you, just co-come outâ. A new, familiar voice was now heard.
Y/n squinted her eyes thinking of a way to not only protect her babies but the woman who had been her friend for years, the woman who she thought and believed had been abducted by Hydra and was being used to get her.
âSharon? What are you doing here? Long time no see huhâ
âY/n they promised that they wonât hurt us, just come outâ.
âThink. Think. Oi donât kick me right now. Come on and thinkâ repeating softly to herself as she looked around the room. Of course her home was littered with all sorts of weapons and ammunition but she didnât want to be the first one to shoot just incase Sharon got caught in the crossfire.
âYouâve got five seconds to come out willingly before we start shooting. We donât need you alive little pig just need that special little thing you stole from Hyd-â
Sharonâs safety wasnât a priority anymore, not now that Hydra thinks her babies belonged to them. He gets cut off with a bullet in between his eyes.
âLetâs go boysâ She shouts as bullets zoomed through the air one straight after the other.
Bullets tore their way all throughout her home, destroying everything she had built for herself and her babies. Holes littering one side of the home.
âNo no no not that vas- goddamnit!â She mutters as her favourite vase smashes into tiny little pieces. âNow itâs personalâ.
One by one the sound of heavy gunfire became more quieter, until there was only two guns firing.
She grimaces as a bullet skimmed her cheek, she readied herself to shoot again when a bullet was fired.
âY-Y/n are you hit?â Sharon shouts.
âNo, it took you long enough to help out Shazâ
âIâm coming in okayâ
Y/n moved away from her position, moving towards the fireplace mantle to pick up a photo of her parents that had been hit when the door came open.
âHow did they get you? Are you hurt?â Y/n says with her back to Sharon. âIâve missed yo-â.
A gun clicking from behind her stopped her words from coming out. Sighing with an eye roll she continues her task of trying to get the glass out of the picture frame. âWhat are you doing Sharon?â
âWhatâs so important about you? Why does everyone always want you huh?â
âHell if I know, nothing special about little olâ me itâs quite annoying reallyâ.
âWhat was Simon talking about?â Sharon questions.
âWho the hell is Simon?â
âThe leader, the first one you killedâ
âOh him, Iâm not sure. Didnât he tell you when he abducted you?â Y/n could see a glimpse of her friend through the broken glass, gun ever so slightly shaking as her arm starts to tremble.
âThey didnât abduct me, Iâve been working with Hydra for over a three years now.â
It took her by surprise hearing that âFair enoughâ is all she says.
âYep, I told the Avengers that you turned rat and was betraying them and they all believed itâ
âSilly twats, arenât they?â Y/n chuckles.
âTurn around. Slowly and put your hands in the airâ Sharon demanded.
âAnd wave them around like you just donât careâ Y/n sings, as she slowly turned around and raised her hands.
Sharon audibly gasped and stumbled backwards âYo-youâre pregnantâŚâ
âNo shit Sherlockâ
âWhose is it?â
âBuckyâs but donât tell him itâs a secretâ She winks.
âYou bitch!â The blonde screams âyouâve taken my life!â She starts to pace back and forth, eyes bouncing from the gun to Y/nâs stomach.
âNot yet I havenâtâŚâ Y/n whispers.
âI love him you know! But no he wanted you, you had him and I had to settle for Steve. And now, now youâre having the love of my lifeâs baby!â
Despite the situation she was in Y/n couldnât stop the sharp tang in her heart at the sight of the tears gathering in her friends eyes. But just to be a bitch she corrected the blonde âBabies, pluralâ
âY-youâre having twins?â
âYepâ
Her throat tightened as she sees Sharonâs finger squeezing on the trigger, both sets of eyes shot straight to the gun as it jams.
It all happened so fast, Y/n grabbed the gun and using the handle to smack Sharon in the face, causing the woman to fall on the floor screaming in pain. Y/n walked past her to leave her home when Sharonâs hand wrapped itself around her ankle and pulled her to the ground. Sharon was up first out of the pair and was straddling Y/n back, gripping her hair in a tight vice she raised Y/nâs head before smacking it down. Again and again and again.
Sharon finally gets up kicking Y/nâs side in the process. âIâm going to do the thing I should of done years ago, you ruined my life-â
The blonde gets cut off when Y/n kicks her legs out from underneath her, causing her to fall back down.
âYouâre fucking crazy you know that Sharon, Jesusâ. Ever so slowly she manages to get up, her hands going to her belly âAll this for a man? Youâve really lost your bloody marbles Shaz!â
âItâs Bucky! I love himâ Sharon screams.
âYeah well so did I until I caught him fucking my best friend!â She screamed back.
The pain and confusion flashed over Sharonâs face âNo, your lyingâ
âIâm not. God I wish I was, but nope caught him fucking Natashaâ
âHe wouldnât do that to me!â
âYou? He was engaged to me, you absolute weirdo. Sharon just stop alright, itâs over Iâm done. You want him so badly have at him! I donât, I donât want to fight you anymore, so please get up off my floor, stop crying and leave.â
She watches as Sharon picks herself off the ground, who then stops as they both hear that one sound Y/n had been dreading.
Her waters splashing onto the floor.
âYouâve gotta be kidding meâ She whispers to herself as she looks down at the sight.
With Y/n distracted she didnât see Sharon standing fully or her running towards her.
The punch to her stomach caused her to stumble backwards, the punch to her cheek that had been sliced open by the bullet from earlier caused her to flinch. The pain in her abdomen intensified as she sees Sharon bending down to grab the gun.
âTold you I was going to end th-â Sharon says just before sheâs cut off with a bullet in between her eyes.
Whether it was because of the pain to her aching body or at the fact she was just made to kill someone she thought was a good friend, her finger wouldnât stop pulling on the trigger.
Even after the gun kept clicking.
âStupid bitch you could have just left but no you had to be a cuntâ Y/n shouts at the dead body laying in her living room.
Dropping the gun, her hand went in between her thighs, bringing her hand back up her heart dropped at the sight of blood.
Slowly walking to find her phone she dialled the number of the one person she trusted more than anyone in this world.
âHi love, weâll b-â
âDoug I-I need you. Babies are comi-â She cuts herself off when a scream tears its way out.
âWeâre on our way!â
âH-hurry.â She says just as she drops the phone as she slides down to the floor.
Doug and Fran arrived as fast as they humanly could. Both of their hearts dropped to the pit of their stomachs when they saw all the bodies lying in her front yard.
Running inside they see the body of a blonde and Y/n, legs open as she births her baby.
âI-itâs the second oneâ and thatâs when the ringing of adrenaline fades and was replaced by a cry, when they look to the side they see the tiny body of baby number one.
Neither Fran or Doug moved as they watched their friend deliver her second baby. Neither one of them could wrap their heads around the strength Y/n showed time and time again.
It shouldnât have surprised them really.
âT-this oneâs a girl, what about the other oneâ Y/n asked, voiced laced with tiredness.
âA boy, heâs a beautiful baby boyâ Fran smiles as she picks the still crying baby up, handing him over to his momma.
âLogan-Douglas and Harlow-Francescaâ Y/nâs eyes move from her babies to the couple in front of her.
âR-really love? You want to name them after us?â Doug asks with tears in his eyes.
âOf course, youâre their godparents after allâ
*two months before Fury rings her*
Y/n makes her way through the busy streets with her head down. She canât stop the eye roll when she notices the two agents following her.
Slowing her pace she waited for the inevitable to happen.
As the agents got behind her a black van comes skidding past, the sliding door comes open, a sack is placed over her head and sheâs pushed in.
âDo you guys want me to act scared or what?â
âShut upâ.
âFeistyâ
After a while the van comes to a stop and sheâs all but dragged out of it.
When the sack was removed her eyes dart around, rolling her eyes for the hundredth time, sheâs in an abandoned warehouse.
âAh Ross, so good to see you. You know if you wanted to see me so badly you could have just calledâ She smiles at the man.
âWanted to surprise you Y/nâ
âOh yeah no I noticed, I was so surprised I didnât see it comingâŚnotice the sarcasm?â. Her head tilts to the side at the sound of footsteps âHi Furyâ
The man gives her a curt nod âY/nâ
âWanna tell me why Iâm here?â
âWe have proof that you werenât the rat, you can come back to SHIE-â
âAbsolutely not. Iâm fine in doing what Iâm doing now thanks, can I go?â
âY/n youâre a mercenary-â
âIt pays the billsâ She shrugs.
Fury shakes his head at Ross when he tries to continue, âYou didnât seem so surprised when he mentioned a rat, why?â
âBit slow arenât you? Let me guess the one that betrayed you wasâŚSharon? Yep I knew, um three years ago? Yeah something like thatâ
âWhy didnât you tell us?â
âDidnât think you lot deserved the truth so, can I now go?â
âWe need to tell the Aveng-âÂ
âNo. Donât, look letâs just keep everyone thinking I turned rat okay? Itâs the best for everyone.â
Both men look to each other before slowly nodding. âItâs so great to see you Y/nâ Fury says as he tries to pull her into a hug.
Stepping back she puts her hands up âI donât like being touched nowadays, so no touching but itâs great to see you too Nickyâ
âI told you not to call me that. See youâ He chuckles and making his exit.
âWe need to talk Y/nâ Ross sighs once the pair are alone.
âAbout?â
âYour old teamâÂ
Her heart stops.
âW-what about them?â She knows exactly what itâs about.
Rubbing his hand over his face, he looks at her with sympathetic eyes. âThe officials want you all to pay for what happened that nightâ.
âWe was set up Ross! Right from the get go, it was all a fucking set up!â
âI know, Y/n I know. I tried telling them but they wonât listen to meâ He speaks earnestly.
âWhy arenât they going after John?â
John Cooper, a name she hasnât heard or spoke of or thought of for over ten years now. He was Y/nâs handler for a year, he made her go out and find people who was at the top of their game. She didnât know why but she did as she was told to do, finding the best of the best.
Douglas - best snipper in the army. Helped that he could fight like a beast.
Marco - best hacker she had ever seen, fighter, built like a brick wall (secretly a cuddle bear).
Colleen - she saved Y/nâs life when she had been cornered in a dark alleyway neither her or her attacker saw the knife coming. No brainer.
Marley - a young girl at the time was an experiment Y/n stumbled on, she didnât have the heart to leave her and when she saw what she was capable of doing, she brought her on board too.
Then there was Hank - the biggest mistake she ever made. He was ruthless and conniving, she thought it would work well in her favour until they all heard screaming and they saw him pinning a seventeen year old Marley to the wall and was trying to shove his hand into the girls trousers. Y/n didnât hesitate to put a bullet into his skull, catching Marley as she fell.
John said they needed another person but she refused. There was no way she was going to bring another person in, not after what had happened.
Their mission was for them to break into a government base and download all the information off the computers, when they got there, there was dead bodies of workers.
Pulling back Y/n ordered them to leave, the moment they stepped back outside they were surrounded by the military, FBI and even SHIELD.Â
That was the night she met both Ross and Fury.
âY/n heâs dead, died in a Mexican prison seven years ago.â
âOhâŚâ
âI need you to tell me the locations of all four of themâ
Chuckling softly, âthatâs not going to happen Ross and you know it.â
âNo I know-â
âIf I give them me, confess to murdering all those people, tell them l was the only person that did it, will they leave them alone?â She asks desperately.
âBut thatâs not tr-â
âIt doesnât matter whatâs true or not Ross. Will they yes or no?â
Closing his eyes he whispers âyesâ.
âLet me make one phone call and Iâll come with you, right here right nowâ.
âThat doesnât need to happen. Iâll need your help soon, you help and Iâll make sure you get a fair trialâ
âMy old team walks. Free and clear, no one comes after them and I want it in writing Ross.â
âDeal.â
Shaking hands she walks back over to the van, hopping in âtake me back from where you kidnapped me fromâ.
*Back to the present*
The first thing she did when she got into her car was FaceTime Fran who answered after a few rings.
âHeyâ
âHi, Doug told me what happened youâre supposed to be resting Y/n/nâ.
âIâm fine, honestly. Whereâs my little terrors?â
Laughing Fran calls for the twins, Y/n couldnât stop smiling when she heard their feetâs pounding on the floor shouting for her.
âHere, talk to momma - Iâll talk to you after okay missyâ.
âOf course. Hi babiesâ
âMommaâ they replied in unison. To see them brought a smile to her lips, her heart ached with the need to hold them in her arms.
âGuess what bubbas!â
âWhatâ Logan asked.
âMomma loves you both, so so much!â
âI wuv you mamaâ Harlow screams down the phone, making her and Fran laugh.
âLogie arenât you going to tell me the same?â
âI wuv you momma so so so so so so muchâ His little face beams.
They were truly the perfect mixture of Y/n and Bucky. Logan had Y/nâs eyes whilst Harlow had Buckyâs, Harlow had her fathers smile and Logan had his mommas. The mannerisms of the pair were the exact same as their parents.
She spoke with them for close to an hour, them telling her all about their fun filled day. Saying goodbye to them pained her, she hated saying them words to her babies. Speaking with Fran for a bit she ended the call and went back to the house.
In dire need of sleep.
The rest of the week passed, Douglas visiting her most days and telling her that the team of superheroes wanted to see her to apologise, nothing was ever said back to him, leaving him hoping that things were different.Â
It was the day of the mission, she rang Fran so she could speak to her babies one last time. She left the house and headed back to the tower.
âItâs important that everyone knows exactly what the plan is. Nothing can go wrongâ. Fury speaks from the head of the table. âAnyone want to saying anything?â
âYeah, Y/n Iâm so so-â Wanda tries to say.
âItâs fine. Letâs just get this over and done with, my guys- are you ready?â
âYes bossâ All answer.
âWell, good luck everyoneâ.
On the quinjet ten minutes later, awkwardness filled the air as both teams sit on opposite sides. No words are spoken other than the pilot saying they were taking off.
Exactly three hours twenty-five minutes and 13 seconds - she timed it - was how long it took for Tony to say something, to be honest she was shocked it took him that long.
âY/n can we talk?â
âIf itâs an apology I donât want it, it meanâs absolutely nothing to me. If itâs about the mission, then yes we can talk.â
âWe need to apologise Y/n/nâ
The nickname coming from Samâs lips make her flinch. âI donât want it nor need it.â
The quinjet fell silent once again.
That was until Bucky broke it. âI never cheated on youâ
Everyone noticed the flash of pain in her eyes, âwhat?â
âI never slept with Nat, we pretended in order to hurt you, ba-Y/n we believed that you betrayed usâ
âBelieved Sharon donât you mean.â
âWe-I didn-â
âAwesome.â
âWhat?â
âI think itâs funny that instead of asking me and oh I donât know believing me, instead you all believed a desperate blonde who had to settle for the man who still pines after her dead aunt, itâs quite absurd to me really.â
âWe didnât know what to believe Y/n. Youâre the one that killed Sharon s-â Steve speaks and ultimately gets cut off.
âI only killed her because I had no other choice!â
âThereâs always a choiceâ He spat back.
âYouâre right. But that night I didnât have one, I wish it wasnât but she left me no choice!â
âWhy did you do it?â
âPilot how long do we have long left?â They all look baffled by her change of the subject.
âWeâre nearly here Missâ.
âThanksâ turning to look Bucky directly in the eyes âwhen this is all over Doug can explain it to you, end of discussion.â
The quinjet lowers to the ground and everyone takes their leave, just as Y/n walked past Douglas she slides two things into his pocket before gripping his hand and smiling towards him, he squeezes her hand and leans over to place a kiss to her temple.
Bullets fly freely, smoke fill their lungs, grunts and screams are heard. Pushing forwards they all work as one.
They had only been there for less than an hour before the remaining members of The Lords surrender.
After all the intel was gathered, the prisoners on board, they hear the sound of another jet.
âWhat the hell?â Tony asks.
The Avengers watch as Y/n gives each of her team a lingering hug - who all apart from Douglas looked confused.
As she gets to Doug hugging him too, she whispers something into his ear that even the two super soldiers couldnât hear, pulling back they stand to attention and salute one another.
She says nothing as she passes them and up the soldiers who put handcuffs on her.
âWhat the hell just happen-â Bucky stumbles out but is cut off when the jet carrying the woman who he was still very much in love with inside exploded.
Marley screams and the sound breaks Douglasâs heart, he grabs the woman who heâs always seen as his daughter in his arms as well as Colleen who falls to her knees. Marco stands there with his dark brown eyes not moving away from the still falling parts of the jet.
The Avengers, they all have silent tears streaming down their cheeks, none of them know what to say or do. Theyâve just witnessed the person who at one point they trusted more than anything, the person they all betrayed just die.
Douglas walks past them all with both women in his arms and walks straight up the ramp with Marco following behind.
When everyoneâs on board the quinjet they see him sitting in the seat Y/n was occupying.
âThe day she walked in on you fucking her best friend she found out she was pregnant. The night she killed Sharon, Hydra had showed up at her home wanting the babies, that scar she has-had on her cheek was from a bullet graze, Sharon tried to kill Y/n - caused her to go into early labour. Y/n killed Sharon because she had no other choice, hell she even gave the blonde bitch an out. When me and my wife got there she was in the middle of delivering her second baby.â He shakes his head sadly âthe reason my best friend is dead is because of usâ pointing to himself and the other three âshe made a decision to leave her babies behind just so we didnât get given the death penaltyâ.
Douglas pulls out the items Y/n had put into his pocket, her ring - the one with two love hearts that represented her twins, and her dog tags that also had two smaller tags with the twins names, date of birth engraved on them.
âJames, she made me and my wife adopt the twins. She knew exactly what she was going to do when Ross talked to her about their deal, she said it was okay for us to let you see them. But please donât think for one second that youâll be able to take them away from us, because pal even if you are a super solider Iâll still kill you.â
Bucky sits there with tears in his eyes, âwhatâs their names?â
âLogan-Douglas and Harlow-Francescaâ Doug tells him with a smile.
âCa-if itâs okay with you and your wife, can I meet them?â
âYou wonât try anything stupid?â
âNo, god no of course not!â
âThen yeah that can be arranged.â
For two years Bucky sees the children he didnât know existed until two years ago.
His heart dropped to his stomach when Douglas took him to the house that Y/n had brought for them to live in after they retired. It became the warm loving home for Douglas, Fran and the kids.
Bucky did retire, the day after he lost the love of his life and met his children for the first time, and not only that but he also brought the house next door.
He formed a great bond with the couple who let him see the kids whenever he wanted - which was now every day since he moved next door.
The bond he had with his children was now unbreakable. Everyday he was reminded of what he lost and lost out of just by looking at their adorable little faces. He loved them so deeply, loving them at its purest form. He wishes more than anything that he could go back in time and redo everything all over again, but since he canât he continues to make up for lost time.
Heâs sat in the living room with the kids, Doug and Fran when a knock comes from the front door, he watches as Doug goes to answer and truly didnât think anything of it.
âHi babiesâ A warm voice says.
âMomma!â The twins scream in unison.
Shooting up from were he was laying on the floor building with the Lego set Steve brought Logan, he watches his kids jump up and run over to Y/n who instantly picks them up.
Sheâs alive. Sheâs standing right in front of him. His chest tightens. Sheâs really here.
âH-how?â He whispers but she hears it.
âYouâve been doing so great with them, Iâve been watchingâ she smiles.
He walks slowly over to her as she puts the kids down and he doesnât hesitate or think about it before he smashes his lips to hers.
âI still love you Y/n/nâ
âI still love you Buckyâ
The kids squeal and jump in circles around their parents as Doug and Fran hold on to each other.Â
Y/n pulls away from the man she still loves after everything and picks up her big babies.

âMom what am I going to do?â
âYou need to tell her, it will break her heart but she needs to know.â
Y/n stood behind the living room wall pressing her hand to her mouth in hopes her mom and sister couldnât hear her muffled sobs. She had just heard that her boyfriend of five years had been cheating on her with her very own sister for the past four months. Betrayed by the two people who she loved more than anything in the world other than her parents.
âShe wonât want to talk to me anymoreâ She felt sick to her stomach at hearing her sisters voice laced in distress. Not once since she confessed has she once said she regretted it or that it meant nothing, no it was all about her.
âDo you blame her? Youâve been fucking her boyfriend.â
âI know mom!â
âAnd now youâre pregnant by your sisters boyfriend, donât you dare try and act like a victim.â
Her heart broke even more. Her sister knew full well that they had been trying to get pregnant for the past two years and yet here she is, pregnant with her own sisters boyfriends baby. Before her sister could speak Y/n stepped around the wall, both mom and daughter gasping at seeing her, seeing the tears they knew she had heard everything.
âWhy? Why would you do this to me? Doing it to your best friend wasnât enough?â
âY/n!â her mom scolded. âYou know that she regretted doing that.â
âBut it didnât stop her from sleeping with her best friends husband when she was grieving her momâs death, did it now? Oh and then carried on once her best friend found out and divorced his sorry arse.â Looking at her older sister, the one person she looked up to since they were children. âCanât you find your own boyfriend that you have to fuck everyone elseâs?â
âI-Iâm sorry, p-please donât be madâ
âYou two deserve each other. I hope you both have the worst life-â
âY/n please donât talk to your sister like that!â
âSister?â she let out a low chuckle with a shake of her head. âI have no sister.â
Walking out of her parentsâ house, the very same one she grew up in, she got in her car ignoring her mom and sister begging her to stay and that everything will be okay, and drove back to her apartment that she shared with her now ex-boyfriend. Thankfully he wasnât there which meant leaving with her things would be easier. Not an hour later her car was packed full with her things, with one last look at the place she had been calling home for three years a stray tear dropped from her eyes, a shudder rolled down her spine at the thought of her own sister and her now ex fucking each other in the apartment. Closing the door she locked it and slid the key through the letter box and got into her car, with no destination in sight she drove away.
âNo no no NO! God damnit!â Smacking the steering wheel harshly then wincing at the pain shooting through her hands, she managed to get the car to pull up to the side of the road. In the middle of nowhere. âGreat. Just great.â
Stranded in the middle of nowhere, no signs of life other than a few birds flying around in the air, she began crying. This wasnât how her life was supposed to go like. It was meant to be her carrying her boyfriendsâ child, not her sister. She was meant to be at home probably curled up on the couch with her cheating scumbag of a boyfriend watching some crappy show on the tv. But no, sheâs currently in the middle of nowhere with a broken down car and no cell service whilst her sister is probably curled up on the couch with the cheating scumbag she happily opened her legs for.
It wasnât fair.
An hour passed and not even a single car went pass. Then another hour went by, this time she kept her mind occupied by kicking the crap out of her car. The next hour that slowly trickled by Y/n walked around her car over and over again, then across the street and back again, even having a race with a snail in which she won against. Finding a stone she practiced her football skills, then she lost the stone. And then she began kicking her car again but this time imagining her sister and boyfriends faces - her car now sporting a huge dent.
The sun began going down being quickly replaced by the crescent moon, climbing on top of her car with her legs dangling against the door she laid back staring up at the sky. It couldnât have been long when she heard a noise that she had never been more grateful to hear.
âYes! Oh thank fuck!â she waved her arms in the air in hopes that the driver would stop and not ignore her, whilst also hoping that the driver wasnât some crazed maniac.
âOh thank you, thank you!â jumping off the car she went up to the truck as it pulled to a stop. âHi, c-can you help me?â
âOf course we can help. My names Wanda and this is Vis, whatâs yours?â
âThank you, Iâm Y/n. My car broke down and I have no cell service.â
âOh, well we can actually help you with thatâ Wanda got out of the truck whilst Vis pulled the truck in front of her car. âHe works at the garage not that far from here.â
âReally? You two are life saversâ
âYeah itâs half an hour away⌠wait, how long have you been out here for?â
âHalf an hour?â Wanda nodded with a soft smile on her plumb lips. âOh my God.â Y/n cried out. âIâve been out here for like four hours!â Wandaâs eyes went wide, her lips pressing together tightly in a straight line. âYou can laugh.â
Y/n couldnât help but laugh along with the green eyed woman, she felt so stupid for not thinking about wondering off to find help instead of staying by her car. âYouâre not from around here are you?â
âLeave me aloneâ she giggled.
âIâm sorry!â
âIs that why you are laughing?â
â⌠Noâ
Vis informs the two women that everything was set up and ready to go, in the truck with two strangers that seemed really nice Wanda asked her about herself which she answered carefully and selectively, Wanda told her that she and Vis were married and then told her about the people she would most likely meet at the garage. Vis chimed in telling her that one of them called Bucky would most likely be standoffish with her but it was just who he was.
âBucky?â
âYeah, his middle name is Buchanan so he goes by Bucky.â Wanda informs.
Not even half an hour later they pulled up to the garage named The Avengers Garage. Wanda and Y/n got out so that Vis could pull the truck and car inside. âCome on, let me introduce you to the gang.â
Gaining the attention of the people that was sat/stood around, the first person to greet her was a beautiful red head named Natasha, then a very happy Sam introduced himself â going straight in for a hug. Then Clint â Wanda informed her that he and Nat were dating, then she was introduced to Steve. Everyone was so nice and warm to her, they were probably like that to everyone but that didnât matter to her.
âThis car is completely fucked.â She heard a deep yet soft voice come from behind her car. âSteve Iâm going⌠h-hi.â He started then cut himself off when he laid eyes on her.
âHiâ she smiled at the gorgeous man in front of her.
The group all watched silently with amused looks on their faces as they watch Bucky standing there with a tint of red hue on his cheeks, a sweet smile on his lips and this woman that they had only just met doing the same thing.
âBucky this is Y/n, Y/n this is Buckyâ Wandaâs soft voice snapped them both out of their trances.
âHiâ they both repeated, the groups eyes rolling in unison.
âSo Buck, whatâs wrong with the car?â Steve then asked snapping them both out of their love sickening eye contact again.
Bucky's eyes find Steveâs and begins explaining the problems with the car, to Y/n it sounded like he was talking mumbo jumbo â having never paid any attention to what her dad would tell her when he tried showing her the ins and outs of a car. âAnd thereâs a big dent in the sideâ
âYeah⌠about that, uhm⌠that was me, I kind of kicked the damn thing.â
âWhy?â Bucky chuckled. Everyone beside Y/n looking shocked at hearing the sound coming from him. It had been so long since any of them had heard anything other than a grumble fall from his lips.
âI was angry.â She shrugged with a small smile.
âFair enough.â He chuckled once again. âIâll be able to get the dents out.â
âH-How much would it all come to?â When Bucky tells her the amount he noticed the grimace flash across her face, asking him about the price without the dents being taken out â hating the way she stutters, and the way her cheeks heated up with embarrassment. âC-Can you just leave the dents? Iâll get it fixed at a later dateâ
âOf courseâ Bucky smiles in understanding. âIt will take about two days to fixâ
âO-Oh okay, thank you.â
Steve rolls his eyes at once again the love struck look in Buckyâs eyes, clapping his best friends shoulder motioning towards her car Bucky smiles once more at Y/n before following Steve. Once it was just Wanda and Y/n after Nat and Clint left to go and get some food and Vis doing something in the back Y/n asked Wanda where the nearest motel was.
âItâs not that far from here, itâs a bit rundown though.â
âThatâs fine, I need a place to sleep until my car is fixed and then I can be on my way again.â
âI can take you there if you want?â
âI would really like that, thank you so much.â
âItâs no problem. Iâm just going to get the keys from Vis.â Leaving her on her own, Y/n went to her car to get a few things from the back, apologising to the two men as she interrupted their conversation.
Thanking Wanda once again for everything that she had done for her, she walked up to the room that she had paid for. It was small and had a weird odour lingering in the air but it didnât bother her, much. Climbing into the uncomfortable bed after changing into something comfy and doing her night routine, she fell asleep with the image of a certain brunette with piercing blue eyes.
Bucky just wanted to go home to Alpine â his precious white ball of fluff that he had found abounded on the side of the road when she was only six weeks old. Heâd probably order some pizza and sit to watch some crappy show on the tv whilst having his little baby curled up next to him eating her treats. But no here he was still at work being told a new car was just brought in.
It wasnât fair.
âThis car is completely fucked.â He mumbled. âSteve Iâm going⌠h-hi.â He started but finding himself cutting his words off when he laid eyes on her.
The most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on.
âHiâ her smile was just as gorgeous as the rest of her face and her voice.
He knew that the group was all watching as his cheeks heated up, and he knew for a fact that they were going to tease him later for it.
âBucky this is Y/n, Y/n this is Buckyâ Wandaâs voice snapped them both out of their trances.
âHiâ they both repeated, the groups eyes rolling in unison.
âSo Buck, whatâs wrong with the car?â Steve asked him making him reluctantly pull his eyes away from her.
He couldnât help the chuckle leave his lips when she explained that the huge dents in the side of her car was due to her kicking it, god he loved her smile. He didnât judge her for wanting the dents to be left in, seeing all the things in the car it looked to him like she had just upped and left wherever it was she came from, and he understood that money was probably tight, hell they had all been in that position before so therefore none of them was going to judge her.
The second Steve got him away from Y/n he just stood there and smirked. âWhat?â
âNothing. Okay well there is something.â
âAnd that is?â
ââHi Iâm Bucky and Iâm so in love with you Y/n, please marry me and have my babiesââ Steve mocked before letting out a surprised yelp and ducking just in time as the tool that Bucky throws at him, hit him.
âYouâre not funny.â
âWhat do you mean? Iâm hilarious.â The dirt blond gasped dramatically. âWhat was all that back there?â
âWhat do you mean? I was just being polite to a customerâ
âThatâs the thing Buck, youâre never polite to customers.â
âYes I am!â
âLiar. Okay, can I ask you another question?â
âYouâre going to ask anywayâ
âWhen is the wedding?â Steve chuckled then let out a pained groan as Bucky throws something at him, hitting him in his stomach. âYou canât keep throwing things at me!â
âI can if you keep being a dick. Now shut up and help me.â
âI thought she said to leave the dents?â
âI know but I canât just leave them.â Bucky shrugs. âAnd donât say anything!â
Both worked tirelessly until it got too late and fatigue and hunger started to set in. Since Steve lived across the road from Bucky they always drove to work together, Steve pulled up to his drive, saying his goodbyes to his best friend â not before he tormented him about his new girlfriend Y/n.
âShe is not my girlfriend!â the brunette practically growled as he stomped over to his house. Instantly being greeted by Alpine, Bucky stood there imagining Y/n sitting on his couch in his shirt with a smile on her face, opening her arms for him to crawl into and complain about his day, running her fingers through his hair-
Alpineâs meow snapped him out of his thoughts, shaking his head. âShe is not my girlfriend.â
âPlease be Y/nâs roomâ Y/n heard a soft voice come from behind her door, just before a knock came.
âHi Wandaâ she smiled at the woman as she opened the door.
âOh thank god! Iâve been knocking on all the doors to find your roomâ
Chuckling, she offered for her to come inside. âHow are you?â
âIâm okay, how are you?â
âIâm good. How come youâre here? Is my car fixed already?â
âWell I came to see if you wanted to hang out? I could show you around town? And for your car, it isnât done yet but I know Bucky's been working on it since seven this morningâ
Seeing the hopeful look in her eyes, Y/n couldnât find it in herself to say no so with a smile and a nod she grabbed her jacket and put her shoes on, making sure she grabbed her bag she locked the door and slid the key into her pocket. Wanda linked her arm with hers as they made their way down to Wandaâs car.
The town was small and it seemed like everyone knew everyone and knew that Y/n wasnât from around there, they made it obvious by staring at her. Wanda showed her all the places her and the gang â as she kept calling them â had grown up, hung out and even showed her the alleyways that Steve use to get beat up in.
âSteve? The blond one, right?â
âYep, he wasnât always that big and muscly, Bucky would always find him and fight the bullies.â
Then Wanda showed her their former principles house that they covered in toilet roll. âWhy would you do that?â Y/n chuckled.
âSam dared Steve to do it, Steve passed the dare on to Clint who passed it to Nat who then passed it on to Bucky, and Bucky passed said dare back to Sam. Anyway, we all then agreed to do it so⌠we didâ
âA dare?â
âYeah, but to be fair we were drunk.â
âIâm sorry?â
âYeah it was only last year that we did it.â Wanda says. Y/n sat in the passenger seat looking at the woman waiting for her to say that she was joking. âIâm not joking either, we didnât exactly grow up after leaving school.â
Half an hour later Wanda pulled up to a cute cafĂŠ that was on Main Street, promising her that they did the best hot chocolate in the world. Which she wasnât wrong about.
âSoâ Wanda started, leaving the whipped cream moustache she was now sporting. âWhere are you going?â
âSorry?â
âYour car was packed full of things so I assume youâre going somewhere?â
âOh, oh I uhm⌠I left my hometown. And now Iâm trying to find somewhere else to call homeâ
âHow come?â
âM-My boyfriend, ex-boyfriend cheated on meâ
âThe bastard! I hate him!â
âYou donât know himâ Y/n laughed.
âI know I donât but I hate him for hurting you like that, do you know who the bitch was? Iâll fight her if you want me too?â
Shaking her head. âIt was with my sister, and no I donât want you to fight her.â
âYour sister? Like half-sister?â Y/n shakes her head. âNo? Step?â another head shake. âJesus Y/n! That bitch! I hate her too!â
âSheâs also pregnant with his babyâ she smiled sadly at Wanda.
âOh Y/n Iâm so sorry.â
âItâs okay I guess, it just hurts you know? I always wanted to have children with him but it wasnât meant to be.â
âThe way I see it is that she did you a favour, I know it hurts. My ex cheated on me but honestly it was the biggest blessing because Vis then gained the courage to tell me he was in love with me.â
âAnd youâve been together ever since?â
âYeahâ Wanda smiled at her. âWe dated for like six months before he proposed to me and then we got married on our one year anniversary, everyone kept telling us that we were mad and marrying to soon, aside from the gang they were the only ones who were supportive, but anyway here we are, four years into marriage and happier than ever.â
âI love that.â Wanda smiled, taking a gulp of her drink as they both settled into comfortable silence.
That was until a brilliant idea came to Wandaâs head. âFuck Y/n! You should move here! The house down the street from mine is for sale, and itâs nice, me and Vis had a look around just because we wanted to see how different their house was to ours but anyway itâs for sale and itâs cute and most importantly itâs only down the road from meâ she rambled with a huge smile on her face.
âI-I donât know, I donât exactly have a lot of money and with my car, you know?â
âI know someone is looking for a receptionist, I can get you a job there?â
âWho?â
âMe! I own a tattoo shop with Nat, and itâs just us two and Clint that works there and we really need a receptionist to take calls and all that shitâ
âYouâre really offering a stranger a job?â
âWell yeah, if you think about it every person I would have to interview is a strangerâŚâ
âYou got me there.â
âDo you know how to answer a phone?â
âOf course I doâ
âDo you know how to use a pen? And how to write?â
âYes, to both questions.â
âWell congratulations Y/n, youâve got the jobâ Wanda beamed before she asked Mary for two more hot chocolates.
âI canât tell if youâre being serious or notâ
âAs serious as a heart attack. When can you start?â
âWanda, dead serious?â
âDead, dead, dead serious! So when can you?â
âStraight away! Thank you Wanda, thank youâ
âWeâre friends so you donât need to thank me. Now we just need to think of a place for you to live.â
âI can just stay in the motel until Iâve saved enough moneyâ she shrugs.
âLeave it with me, Iâll think of something better.â
After discussing more about what the job will entail and her wages Wanda dragged Y/n out of the cafĂŠ, she explained that Natâs sister was the owner so therefore they never had to pay for their things. Dropping Y/n off at the motel with the promise that she would come back later, Wanda headed straight for the garage.
Bucky was in the backroom looking for the part he needed to fix Y/nâs car when he heard Wanda loudly ask where he was, grabbing what he needed he went out to where Wanda was. âWhatâs up?â
âYou said you wanted a roommate, right?â
âThat was ages ago?â
âYeah and? Do you still want one or not?â
âI mean I wouldnât be against it, just as long as they donât hurt Alpine, why?â
Wanda grabs a hold of Samâs arm and began jumping up and down, with a huge smile on her face. âI think Iâve found you a roommate!â
âYeah? Who?â
âY/nâ Buckyâs face dropped. âIâve given her a job at the shop and now Iâm trying to find her a place to live and not her staying at that crappy motel like she wants.â
âI-no. Thanks Wanda but noâ
âWhy not?â she frowned.
âBecause heâs in love with herâ Steve laughed as he spun in circles on his chair.
âNo Iâm not!â
âSheâs single.â
âIs she?â Steve and Sam burst out laughing at hearing the excited tone of his words. âShe canât live with me Wands, I donât know her.â
âHer name is Y/n, sheâs single, sheâs really nice, what more do you want to know about her?â
âOh wow, itâs like Iâve known her my whole entire life!â
âExactly!â
âWands, heâs being sarcastic.â Sam informed her, Steve nodding to confirm it. She had never really been able to pick up on sarcasm.
âOh⌠right well I guess I have to find her somewhere else. Bye guys.â
Bucky instantly felt bad for his best friend, hating the way her whole behaviour changed along with her voice, handing over the items over to Steve he ran after Wanda. âIâm sorry Wands, I know youâre trying to help her and I didnât mean to be sarcastic.â
âItâs okay. Itâs just- I donât know I just want to help her and she seems so nice and sheâs been hurt and I donât like that.â
âWho hurt her?â
âItâs not my place to say Buckâ
âI understand. Hey why donât you take me to her and I can ask her if she wants to move in with me?â
âYes! I promise Bucky she wonât murder you in your sleep. Well⌠I hope she doesnât.â Bucky chuckles at her words, getting into the car with her, she takes off.
Standing outside Y/nâs motel door they both looked at each other worriedly as they heard Y/n arguing with someone, who they assumed was on the phone as they couldnât hear anyone elseâs voice. Bucky gave her a questioning look when they heard her say about her own sister betraying her, he soon understood what she meant when Y/n shouted what she had told Wanda earlier that day.
âIâve already told you mom that I donât want anything to do with her, or that child. And as for her wanting my blessing to date him she didnât ask me if she could fuck him when she was- no I donât care- she isnât my sister- they both can rot in hell for all I care, no, no you donât get to interrupt me anymore, you want to stand by her then do it but donât expect me to come back and ever forgive her. Iâm done.â They flinch when they hear a bang against the door, Wanda instantly knocking on the door.
âY/n, itâs Wanda!â
Hearing the locks unlock Wanda rushed straight in with Bucky following his brunette best friend who had the heart of gold, watching as she wrapped her arms around Y/nâs shaking form. He noticed a phone on the floor, the screen lighting up with âMomâ on the call screen, he also noticed her phone screen cracked.
âIâm okay. I just got angry.â
âWhat happened?â
âMy mom rang, she wants my blessing to date him.â She scoffs, leaning into Wandaâs hand as she wipes the fallen tears. âOh, hi Bucky.â
âHi.â Looking around the small room Bucky picks up her phone and declines the call from her mom, again. âCome on, letsâ get you packed up.â
âWhat?â
âWait, do you like cats? Sheâs a complete softy.â
âI-I do, but what is happening?â
âWanda said you need a place to live, Iâve got a house with two spare bedrooms so⌠you can live with me.â
âI feel like you two are pranking me.â
âNope, come on.â
Not even ten minutes later was he sitting back in the car but this time with Y/n sitting in the back, and then twenty minutes later Wanda was pulling up outside his home. Alpine ran straight for Bucky, and then Wanda before sniffing Y/nâs leg, a happy purr was heard from the ball of fluff. As the women were distracted by his precious baby, he was looking around making sure his house was clean, thankfully the only mess around was Alpineâs toys laying around. Giving her a tour of the house, he showed her the room she would be taking, Bucky told them he needed to go back to work.
âOh Y/n, welcome home.â He smiled warmly at her.
It had been six months to the day since Wanda and Vis found Y/n on the side of the road, she had become great friends with the gang - all welcoming her with open arms. Working at the tattoo shop that Nat and Wanda owned had been great fun, Nat had even showed her how to tattoo⌠which wasnât so fun. The two women comforted her when she was tagged in an instagram post that her sister had put up announcing she was having a girl, both of them even commenting on the post â Natâs comment was âreally classy having a baby with your own sisters exâ, Wandaâs was âimagine sleeping with your own sisters boyfriend and getting knocked up by him and then tagging her in this photo.â Both comments got way more likes then the actual post did. Her mom rang her telling her to tell them to delete the comments, Y/n laughed and put the phone down on her and finally blocked her parents, sister and exâs numbers.
At first she thought she was overstepping by living with him but he kept waving her worries off. âI like having someone else to talk to.â He told her once. There was a few awkward moments they both shared since living together such as walking in on each other in the shower, or bath, or the time that Bucky had a woman over and the woman walked into Y/nâs room thinking it was the bathroom, the woman instantly hurling insults at the brunette accusing him of cheating, by the time either one of them got a chance to speak the woman was already on her way out of the house.
âIâm so sorry Bucky.â
âWhy? Iâve never seen a woman move so fast before.â He burst out laughing, prompting her to join in.
But overall it had been great, the two learnt so much about the other, whenever they had a bad day at work the other would lend a sympathetic ear, they had grown close which terrified the both of them due to having been hurt in the past. She had found out that his ex-girlfriend had cheated on him after he had his accident which left him with his arm being amputated, he had only told her about this after she saw the scars he tried so hard to keep hidden from her.
âAre you coming tonight?â Bucky asked her as he came into the kitchen.
âWandaâs asked me to and Nat said if I donât sheâll beat me up.â
âWell you canât come.â
âWhy canât I?â
âBecause only cool people are invited.â
âSo why are you going?â
Gasping dramatically he squinted his eyes at her, he grabs his phone off the side. A few seconds later her phone pings.
Bucky: u r so rude.
âReally? Why did you just text me?â
Bucky: cus Iâm no longer talking to u.
âWell technically youâre still talking to me.â
Bucky: from now on Iâm not talking to u.
âYou are so dramatic, isnât he Alp, yes he isâ she cooed at the fluff ball as she jumped onto Y/nâs lap.
Bucky: donât bring our daughter into this!
Bucky: my daughter.
Bucky: donât look at me like that!
Bucky: I meant MY daughter!
âBut that isnât what you said Jamie. It looks like OUR daughter loves me.â She taunted him, giggling at his death stare.
Bucky: fine.
Bucky: you gave birth to a cat.
âShe got her hairiness from you.â
âNo she didnât!â
âI thought you wasnât going to speak to me?â
âI- shut up and go and get dressed.â She let out loud laugh at his failed attempts at defending himself, even as she made her way to her room she couldnât stop laughing. Bucky didnât care that he had a huge smile on his face at hearing his favourite sound.
Bucky drove the two of them to the garage, it was relatively quiet aside from the radio quietly playing 80âs rock in the background. He couldnât help but take small glances at her from the corner of his eye, her perfume was intoxicating as the smell filled his truck and his nostrils.
Tonight the gang was having a BBQ at the garage for some reason unknown to Y/n, she did ask Bucky why it wasnât being held at one of their houses but he just shrugged his shoulders. Wanda instantly pulling her into a hug and handing her a nice cold beer. âHow are you?â
âIâm good, though Bucky no longer speaks to me.â
âWhat! Why?â
âBecause our daughter loves me more.â
âWait⌠what?â
âSheâs my daughter!â Bucky shouts from the boot of the car.
âNope, you said ours so therefore Iâm her mother.â Wanda watches the scene with a confused yet amused expression on her face.
Before long their bellies were warm, their laughter filling the air as they retold stories of their childhood, Buckyâs arm was wrapped around Y/nâs shoulder as her hand was on his thigh â if anyone saw them they would think they are a couple, especially with the way Bucky stared at her when her attention was elsewhere. She didnât see them all share a look between them all, because when Bucky stood she nearly fell.
âThe time is nigh, let us begin the ceremony.â Wanda says in an ominous voice. The hair on the back of Y/nâs neck stand up.
âPlease stand Y/n L/n.â Steve then spoke.
Staring wide eyed with a hint of fear and panic behind them, she stood up on wobbly legs. âW-Whatâs going on?â
âYouâll find out in due time.â Bucky said from the side of her.
Wanda told Bucky and Steve to take her hands and to follow her. They led her further away from the garage and towards an old railway track that hadnât been used in nearly fifty years, as Wanda had told her before, the panic began to rise more and more with each passing step. Her new friends were crazy and are going to murder her.
âWe are gathered here on a dark night.â Nat started.
âWe have an offer.â Sam went next.
Bucky and Steve let go of her hands and stood by the rest, once Wanda said ânowâ they got down on their knees. âWill you be our friend?â Steve asked.
âJoin our gang.â Wanda spoke.
âBe one of us.â Bucky smiled.
âAre you fucking kidding me right now? I thought you was going to kill me!â she shouted.
âNo? Why would we kill you?â Bucky asked puzzled by her words.
âYou all act weird and take me to an old railway track, I mean come on!â
âOh yeah⌠it does seem a bit murdery feely.â
âExactly!â
âOkay, not to get off topic, Y/n what do you say? Be an official member of our gang?â Wanda questions. âMy knees are starting to hurt.â
âDo I get a cool jacket?â
âNo but you do get a cool bracelet that weâve made.â
Mulling the offer over, Y/n smiled and nodded. âYes Iâll join your gang even though I thought you was going to kill me.â
Bucky had the honour of putting on the bracelet on her wrist, it was the exact same one that all of them wore on their own wrists. âWelcome to our crazy family.â He whispered.
Each of them hugging her before going back to the garage to carry on drinking. Y/n was about to follow until Buckyâs hand slipped into hers and tugged making her stop. He watched as the others got further away from them.
âBucky?â
âI- I just want a few minutes alone, j-just the two of us.â
âOh okay.â She noticed that he was still holding her hand, she was glad because she loved the warmth radiating off him.
âI really like you Y/n.â Bucky speaks after a few minutes of silence.
âI really like you too.â
âNo, not like that. I mean... I mean I love you, Iâm so fucking in love with you itâs crazy, youâre all I think about with your perfect smile and perfect laugh, man I really love your laugh! And youâre so perfect and honestly it drives me insane because youâre everything-â
Y/n cuts him off by pressing her lips to his.
âI love you-â
Bucky cuts her off by grabbing the back of her head, bringing her closer to him so he can carry on kissing her.
By the time they get back to the rest of them both of their lips were swollen and their cheeks were tinted red. Bucky sits in the seat and instantly pulls her on to his lap, both of them ignoring the cheering coming from their friends.
âIt was about time you asked her out!â Steve cheered.
âOh⌠shit yeah, Y/n will you be my girlfriend?â
They all burst out laughing a she nods. âYes Iâll be your girlfriend.â
Time - travel. Angst. Unrequited love. Fluff. Ft. Sam Wilson.
"I think I'm in love with you." Out with it I go. James Buchanan Barnes, the former Winter Soldier, my partner, my teammate, my best friend, stares back at me, unblinking.
You could hear a pin drop fifty miles away if you tried.
I take Bucky's silence as a sign to keep going.
"We've known each other for two years now and, mission to mission, catastrophe after catastrophe, we have had each other's backs," I take a breath. Steady myself.
"It wasn't always easy, and we've had our differences and fair share of disagreements, but there's no one else I want to do this with, Bucky." I sigh, heart frozen in my chest, "You're it for me."
Bucky has the most unique set of eyes I have ever seen. The kind that pulls you in deep, leaves you frozen on the spot and inspires you to quote comically cliche poems at him in hopes of being spared a glance. Truly, Bucky is so beautiful that most days it's hard to look straight at him, but now I choose to face danger head on as I bare my heart out.
Bucky opens his mouth, but it takes him a second to collect himself enough to speak.
"Doll, IâŚ" He's looking away, anywhere but at me, I realize.
My heart clatters inside my ribcage until I'm sure it caught on a fractured bone and exploded.
"Yes?" I say, quiet now, meek. I expected it. After all, Bucky is a go-getter - if he wants a girl, he'll go right after her. I should have known.
I'm so fucking stupid.
Always over-estimating my place in other people's lives.
Bucky seems to take in big breath, but I can barely see him. My vision is hazy, blurred. I vaguely sense the burning of my eyes.
"I can't do this, doll," is all he says, "I'm sorry."
How long it takes, for one heart to trust another. How quickly it all shatters, I think.
"I-" Mortifyingly, my lower lip quivers. "Is it me?"
"No! Doll, don't be ridiculous." Bucky corrects quickly, reaching out to caress my cheek with his flesh arm. I realize he must be wiping a stray tear.
"Then why?"
"I'm just - I don't know if I'm ready."
I nod. Try to smile. Step away.
Instinctively, Bucky reaches for me, but his hand falls short at the distance between us and drops to his side instead.
"Are weâŚgoing to be okay?" He asks, wincing.
That nails the coffin. I feel my face crumble, so I tilt myself away from the man of my dreams, the man that's breaking my heart. I push through the pain and nod again.
"Dude, yeah, don't even stress it." I whisper, voice hoarse.
Bucky doesn't take the bait, doesn't laugh, just stares at me with big, sad eyes. He reaches a hand out to me again, but I roughly push it out.
"Don't you dare feel bad for me, Barnes. I don't need your pity." I snap, embarrassed.
"Doll, that's not-" he starts, but I cut him off.
"And don't fucking call me that! Don't be so condescending. This whole time I thought there was something here, that I wasn't crazy. You call me sweet names and hold me close after nightmares and look at me the way you do only to not - ." I stop myself, gesturing at the space between us. "If you were just using me for comfort and company, then it's done." I breathe hard.
I know it's not fair to my sweet, gentle Bucky. But laying your heart bare to someone and them pushing it back into your open arms is a different kind of pain. Don't judge until you try it.
Bucky's ocean eyes grow heated. I won't let him speak more, everything's said and done now.
"I'll see you Monday." I say finally, slamming Bucky's apartment door as I leave.
Bucky doesn't call out. Doesn't chase me down the street.
I can't believe I was so fucking stupid. I shake outside of Bucky's apartment complex until I'm sure all the makeup of my face has been wiped clean.
I dial the only other living friend I have left.
"What's up?" Sam's commanding voice is a welcome change from Bucky's soft and apologetic rumble.
I sob into the phone for long enough for Sam to trace my location.
"Oh, kid." He crouches by my slumped form on the floor. "Let's get you up and outta here."
I cling to Cap for dear life.
--
"He's the only man I've ever loved" I tell Sam, nursing the drink in my hand.
Sam stares at me with the sympathy and understanding he only ever reserves for his family - Sarah, and, more recently, Bucky.
He sighs, grimacing into the distance. I realize how this must look for him: his small team of surviving heroes - falling apart at the seams.
"I'm sorry you have to deal with this." I whisper, suddenly captivated by the bubbles fusing at the bottom of my glass.
"Hey," he says gently, head snapping back to me, "You cut that shit out, right now."
"Yes, sir."
"Smartass. You're my friend - I'll do just about anything to ease the pain you're in right now. Hell, I was just looking for a reason to beat Bucky's cyborg ass."
I snort, barely fighting a smile.
"There she is," Sam teases.
Then his face turns somber.
"Can you still work with the guy?" he asks, leaning in. "This mission we got on Monday, it's tough, Y/n."
I look up but don't respond.
In all my drama I overlooked how deep the lines in Sam's forehead had been etched there for a while. I don't remember the last time he relaxed, or even took a break from being Captain America.
"We need all hands on deck," he insists. "Which is just three pairs of hands but it's still something."
I let myself contemplate for a minute longer despite already knowing the answer.
"Yeah, 'course, Sam. I'll be there."
--
To say the atmosphere in the room is tense is a grave understatement.
"So, I'll start," says Sam, taking the lead of the mission brief. He eyes Bucky and me with careful measure. Bucky stares straight ahead, and I try similarly to concentrate on the copy of the files printed and carefully laid out in front of me. In the time that it took me to read and re-read my copy, Bucky kept his untouched.
I pretend not to see the deep dark circles that blossomed under his eyes when we exchanged equally cold "good mornings".
"We're time-traveling, now?" I ask, unamused by the idea in light of recent events.
"This is a very high-profile mission," explains Sam, devoid of his warmth from a few nights ago. This was Captain America speaking.
"There's been a breach at the base - some high-tech equipment from Tony's lab has mysteriously disappeared. We have reason to believe that Tony's time machine has been activated last week, sending one or possibly several armed suspects back into the 40s. The mission is to find and bring them back to this timeline, where they will be dealt with by our laws and regulations without causing more trouble."
"What makes you think they're hiding out in the 40s?" Bucky speaks up for what feels like the first time today. I dig my nails into my clothed thigh, trying hard not to think about how deep and smooth Bucky's voice is.
Bucky is figuratively perfect, it's hard to believe that he's walking around like this without a girl on his arm. Or maybe he already has someone - which would justify him turning me down.
I tell myself it would hurt less if he was already taken.
"I'm not actually sure," says Sam. "That kid - Spiderman - or whatever kids like to call themselves these days - pretty much handles all of Stark's leftover equipment and labs. He says that's where they're at." Sam finishes with a shrug.
"So, let me get this straight," I clear my throat. "You want us to undergo this incredibly dangerous mission in completely uncharted territory just because some kid's got a hunch?"
From the corner of my eye, I can almost see Bucky nodding along with my words, equally displeased.
"It's not uncharted - our team has done this before to bring everybody back." argues Sam.
"And how many of them came back?" I snap, remembering red hair. Ballerina slippers. Knowing green eyes.
I feel both men flinch beside me.
"That was different." rumbles Bucky from the far end of the table.
That wound is too fresh, too deep.
"Don't." I retort. "My best friend didn't die just for us to use that goddamn machine like a toy." Of course, we all know who I'm talking about. Plus, Yelena will kick both of their asses if she hears about this, which makes me wonder if that's why she isn't included in this mission.
"Not us," Sam quips.
"What was that?"
"Not "us"," Sam repeats again, voice loud and clear the second time. "Just you."
"Absolutely not." Bucky interrupts, sitting up and fixating Sam with a glare harboring the force of a thousand suns.
Sam ignores Bucky, taking a seat across from me, "I can't go, things are still too tender for me to just disappear for days on end. They'll appoint a new Captain America and storm in to put us all in prison again if they think we're weak," he goes on, taking a gentle hold of my other arm extended across the table.
"Bucky would get recognized by someone within minutes, it's too complicated." Sam continues.
"Sam," Bucky warns from the other end of the room.
"You're our only option." Sam finishes with another sigh. He did that a lot lately, I noted.
"It's not happening. Y/n, tell him you're not going to do it." Bucky's authoritative voice echoes around the conference room. A sense of urgency I can't begin to analyze is there too.
I contemplate.
"Y/N." Bucky speaks again, something that was beginning to get on my nerves.
"How dangerous is this equipment again?" I ask Sam, ignoring the forceful sigh from the other end of the room. I didn't care what Bucky thought about me in that moment. Who was he to choose for me, anyway?
"I wouldn't be asking if it wasn't serious." Sam affirms. I know this too, Sam is above all things reliable.
"Well, let's see," I pretend to draw a score board in the air with my finger, "In the event of my death, my family will be heavily compensated. That's one." I shrug.
Bucky's chair scrapes against the floor as he crosses the room to where Sam and I are sitting. "Tell me you're not actually considering this."
Under different circumstances I would have believed that he was pleading.
"I've got nothing to do this week and no one waiting for me at home. Two and three," I drop two more points in the imaginary "pros" side of the board.
"Guess I'm in." I flash Sam my signature grin, one he did not return.
"Y/N, No." Bucky orders.
"No one's talking to you!" I snap, whipping my head around to face him directly for the first time today.
He had let a strong stubble grow over the weekend and now looked disheveled on the whole - I quickly push away thoughts of him waking from nightmares, alone and shivering, too stubborn to call me.
His gorgeous blue eyes widen and freeze over as he takes a step toward me.
"Are you doing this to get back at me?"
"Not everything's about you, Barnes." I say, "Sam, I'm in. Let's fuckin' do this."

âI canât believe youâd do this to me, Doll. After everything weâve been through? Was it all a lie?â
âDonât deny it! Thatâs your voice on the recording! Banner proved your phone was there, it pinged there â weâve got the proof. Even now youâre lying, you just canât help yourself, can you?â
You had read about people being too stunned to move or speak, but you always thought it was a little embellished for dramatic effect in books. Surely, you could just push through? Surely shock did not have such a profound effect on your body that it rendered you temporarily paralysed and mute?
But you had calmly walked down the stairs towards the lobby of the house twenty minutes ago and hadnât moved since. You just stood there now, rigid and dumbfounded, trying to understand how your entire world had just collapsed around you mere minutes beforehand. Now, you got the âstunnedâ thing. You understood.
The aftershocks of Bucky yelling at you echoed around your head. What had just happened? Youâd been sleeping peacefully just before he stormed in your shared bedroom, roaring at you before your eyes had even opened. Youâd never seen him like that before. This wasnât your Bucky, this was work Bucky. The one heâd always worked so hard to keep you from.
Why wouldnât he listen? What did he mean, the recording? The phone ping? Your skull ached as you tried to make sense of it all. You would never do a thing like that to him. You loved him. Youâd die before you purposefully tried to hurt him. Why didnât he understand that?
You briefly considered going back upstairs, finding him wherever he was in the labyrinth of this house and straightening this whole mess out. Telling him you loved him, and he had to listen. Taking him in your arms, kissing him softly.
But the memory of the look in his eyes, the sheer rage they contained, the hatred that lay there, stopped you.
There was nothing to go back for.
You managed to pull yourself from your paralysis and move towards the hall closet near the front door. Well, it was more like a small room than a closet. An overflow from the walk-in closet just off the master bedroom upstairs. A huge space packed with a selection of Buckyâs jackets and shoes. He liked keeping some of them downstairs, getting the staff to rotate them when he wanted a change. Some of your things sat in there too - a few high-end coats, beautiful shoes.Â
Correction, past tense - they were yours. Not now.Â
âYouâre a liar! You lied to meâŚBet you loved spending my money too, didnât you? Laughing all the way to bank as you sucked me dryâŚâ
You screwed up your face as the memory of his voice flooded you. He was just so angryâŚhe just wouldnât listen. He wouldnât believe youâŚ
You pushed it all aside and opened the closet door, darting and shuffling through the combined thousands of dollars at your fingertips - the Dior, the Gucci, the Prada. You knew it was in here somewhere.
Then you spotted a flash of red behind one of the shoe racks in the far corner. There she was.Â
You moved towards it, grabbing at the red fabric and tugging. It squeezed past the luxury shoes and revealed itself as you pulled it toward you - your faithful red backpack.
A relic of your former self.
No designer labels here, just a bag that had followed you throughout your life - high school, college before youâd dropped out, various apartment moves and vacations. The once-bright crimson colour had faded over time, but it was still sturdy and strong, still TARDIS-like in how much you could pack inside. It stuck out like a sore thumb in the closet against the glamour and opulence.Â
You knew how that felt.
You unzipped it and dug through the contents. A pair of jeans, a sweater, a couple of T-shirts and your beaten-up old sneakers. Some pairs of underwear and bras. A few other simple garments. All polyblends and cheap textiles. No fancy labels to be found. No fine silks or luxe fabrics that Bucky had liked to spoil you with.Â
This backpack was all you had to your name when youâd moved in here. Funny how life went in circles, because once again it was all you had now.
At the time Bucky had taken it from you and insisted you throw it away - you wouldnât need it! Heâd buy you a whole walk-in closet full of clothes!Â
And he did.Â
A dizzying amount. More than you could ever wear. A mix of designer labels and custom pieces that fit you perfectly. Fine tailoring and exquisite details. Dresses. Blouses. Pants. Jeans. Organic cotton t-shirts. Skirts of every length. Winter coats that had cost the same as two months of your rent in the city. Underwear sets so pretty and delicate that you were almost too nervous to wear them.Â
And accessories, too. Handbags. Jewellery. Shoes. Oh, the shoes. Heels, flats, boots, sandals, sneakers and slippers. Shoes for fancy parties and shoes for hikes. Shoes for the grand vacations. Shoes for just lounging around the house. Shoes you only wore for sex.
All gone, in an instant.
It didnât matter, anyway. You always told him you didnât need any of it. And you werenât lying. Youâd never lied to him, despite what he believed now. You were always happiest in sweats and loungewear, you just liked being comfortable and yourself. You just liked being near him.
At the time youâd talked him round about letting you keeping the backpack - nostalgia, you know? Youâd had it years, after all.
But he didnât think you needed it. That was then, this was now. Why keep an old bag when you could get anything youâd ever want? Heâd buy you a hundred backpacks, he said, heâd get your initials embroidered, heâd let you design your own, heâd have your favourite designer make you one - especially for you.
But that wouldnât be your bag. The bag that had seen everything. Your constant companion.Â
You persisted. What was one little backpack in a big old house like his? It would take up no space at all. He wouldnât even know it was there.
He relented eventually, heâd always loved how down to earth and low-key you were. He was fond of your sentimentality. Youâd never been interested in his money; youâd kept the love notes he wrote you - not the shopping receipts - but he still liked to spoil you. You deserved it.Â
Or so heâd told you then. But it was a different story today.Â
The bag had been hastily stashed here in the closet the first day you moved in and had been there ever since, languishing amongst the Italian tailoring.Â
Until now.
Part of you wondered if deep down you had always known this day would come. Maybe your gut had sensed it was all too good to be true, and you knew you needed to store a parachute for the inevitable fall.Â
You sniffed, wiping away the threat of more tears. There would be time for that later.Â
You looked down at the slip you wore, the slinky, silly nightie thing heâd bought you that youâd worn to bed. Not very practical now youâd be out on the street.Â
Your brain suddenly switched into survival mode, most likely in an attempt to stop yourself from falling apart, but you couldnât think about it all now. You needed to find somewhere to stay. And you couldnât do that in a silk nightdress.Â
You quickly shrugged the gown off, leaving it in a tangled pool on the floor of the closet and mentally apologising to Martha who would have to pick it up tomorrow. You grabbed the backpack and pulled on the jeans, a bra, one of the tees and the sweater. You rolled the Dollar Tree socks onto your feet. Kicked on the sneakers. It was all a little musty from being folded up in the bag for so long. But it would do.Â
You caught a glimpse of yourself in the closet mirror and gasped. Aside from the wild eyes and tear-stained face, you looked like a version of yourself you hadnât seen in a long time. Another life.
Hello again.
Next: where to go. The obvious places were Wandaâs or Natâs homes. And youâd go there. Either would work. Either would welcome you with open arms, being the true friends that they were. Buckyâs betrayal had made you question everything you knew about love, but not the faith in your friends to catch you when you fall. That was unshakeable.Â
Maybe you could alternate who you stayed with until you got back on your feet, so you werenât too much of a burden to either. You just couldnât face either of them tonight, you needed to be alone.Â
You frantically rummaged through the backpack again until you found what you were looking for at the very bottom. You let out a little yelp of relief.
The battered old wallet had seen better days, but it was hanging on. You opened it up and breathed a sigh of relief that youâd never transferred your driverâs license into the Gucci wallet Bucky had given you on that first day. Thanks, lazy past self. It wasnât like youâd driven much anyway, not with his all drivers on the payroll and the Uber account heâd loaded onto your phone.Â
The wallet also contained debit and credit cards youâd never cancelled but hadnât touched since Bucky gave you your very own black card. It was funny how you used to obsessively count every penny and now you could charge whatever you wanted without a second thought.
Not now, then, you corrected. You needed to get used to your life with Bucky being referred to in the past tense.
âYou were working with the feds this whole time, Doll? Is that it? You were all laughing at me? Laughing at how easy it was to let you in? The cute little waitress doing her âoh shucks!â routine, catching me hook, line and sinker?? God Iâm such a fucking idiotâŚâ
You stifled a sob, but continued hunting through the wallet.
You thought about your purse sitting out on the side table by the front door. You could take that with you and charge a hotel room it. He probably wouldnât even notice such a small charge amongst his wealth, and even if he did, he wouldnât begrudge you a few bucks for a roof over your head for one night. Would he?
No. Enough.Â
He had ended it. He had implied you were a leech. He didnât listen, he didnât trust you. He didnât believe you. If he truly thought youâd done what he saidâŚhe couldnât ever have loved you. Not really.Â
No more spending his money, even though you never really felt comfortable doing so anyway. The showdown tonight had confirmed your biggest fears - heâd always resented you for spending his cash. You couldnât live like that anymore.Â
Besides, you didnât want him to know where you were. Not that you thought heâd come after youâŚbut still.Â
Fortunately, the wallet had a ream of stale bills stuffed in one of the sections. You exclaimed in excitement; you remembered them now. It had been your last day at your waitress job. Youâd quit right before you came over to this place to move in, and Lou had given you the rest of the weekâs pay plus tips. You had fought him on it, insisting you didnât need it - but Lou had asked you to take it. For his sake.
âI want you to be happy, honâ,â heâd told you kindly when you had shared your plans. âAnd I know youâre a smart girl. But youâre getting mixed up withâŚa different kinda world. AâŚdifferent kind of guy. You never know when this might come in handyâ.
Youâd frowned at him at the time, not quite sure what he meant. But as you stood there in the closet clutching the cash, you sent him a silent thank-you for his foresight. God bless Lou. He was exactly right.
You shoved the money and the wallet back into the red bag and moved from the closet into the hallway. The house was completely silent. If Bucky knew you hadnât left yet, heâd made no effort to stop you. You admitted that a tiny part of yourself had hoped heâd come after you and admit heâd made a terrible mistake.
But he wasnât coming.Â
You slung the backpack over your shoulder as you headed to the front door. As your hand curled around the handle, you turned and took one last look at what had been your first real home. What youâd hoped would be your last home.Â
You looked over at your phone which youâd tossed onto the dresser next to the closet in your panic. You briefly pondered taking it, but it wasnât yours anymore. Youâd buy a burner in the morning and get a new cell plan once you were back on your feet.Â
Wow. You were surprising yourself with this pragmatism. But you also knew you were hanging on by a thread.
But the fact was - youâd survived before Bucky, and youâd survive after him, too. You always kept going. Youâd been dirt poor before, you could do it again. Youâd been alone before, too. Youâd been alone most of your life.Â
You could do it again.
âTenaciousâ - thatâs what Nat had called you once. You werenât sure if you agreed with her at the time, but now you wanted to prove her right. You wanted to be the person she believed you to be.Â
You already knew it would be much harder now, as youâd had a taste of the other side. How the other half live, as they say. Before, you didnât know any different - you didnât know what you were missing. Now you absolutely did. Not just the moneyâŚthe comfortâŚbut being cared for, being loved.Â
On some level, youâd always known this wasnât going to be your happy ending. You knew deep down that the house of cards would eventually fall, because it always did.Â
You just wished you werenât always right.Â
You opened the door and stepped out into the dark.
đ
You walked for thirty minutes towards the city. Bucky lived on the outskirts and most of the journey had been leaving his estate along the single, winding road that led up to his property. None of his men paid you any mind. Not the ones with guns pitched up along the perimeter. Not those waiting in cars half a mile from his house, keeping an eye out for any potential threats as they did every night. They all knew who you were, so word mustâve spread fast. Otherwise they wouldâve been falling over themselves to check on you and find out why the bossâ girl was out walking by herself at this time.Â
You wondered if Steve or Sam had put a message out on the comms. âTheyâre over. Donât worry about her anymoreâ or words to that effect. Something cold but concise. Thatâs how this operation worked.Â
Youâd developed friendships with some of these men. Chatted to them and even brought them coffee when they kept watch on cold nights. You would watch then from the windows and tell Bucky you were worried about how freezing it was out there, and heâd laugh it off and say it was part of their job and they were fine. But they were always grateful when you came out with a thermos, always told you how much it meant to them.Â
All of it forgotten in an instant, you were disposable as anything else in Buckyâs empire. You understood that now. Just like when he wanted a new car or a new watch, heâd toss away the old model - then find himself something newer and shinier.Â
You walked a little further as signs of civilisation starting to appear and Buckyâs acres of land disappeared behind you. A gas station. A boarded-up strip mall. You were a little frightened walking alone by yourself, but the sheer adrenaline your situation propelled you forward.Â
You breathed a sigh of relief when you eventually found a tired-looking Holiday Inn up ahead. A few of the lightbulbs on the neon sign were out, meaning it spelled out H LIDAY INN. A leaky drainpipe dripped a steady stream of water over the entrance. Oh dear.Â
But it would do for now.Â
You took a deep breath as you went inside and checked in at the front desk, paying for a basic room with your waitress cash. The disinterested receptionist gave you the key card and sighed with boredom, barely looking at you as she barked the directions to your room and resumed Candy Crush on her phone. She didnât seem surprised to see a lone woman turning up in the middle of the night, arriving to a roadside hotel on foot, paying for two nights in crumpled bills. She didnât even ask to see your ID. That all gave you a pretty clear idea of what the staff were used to here.
You passed an ancient-looking PC that guests could use, which surprisingly, as it looked like it was last updated for Windows 95, had WiFi. You made a mental note to log on tomorrow to message Wanda and Nat on social media and fill them in âŚand hopefully get one of them to come pick you up.Â
You grabbed some chips and soda from the vending machines then walked towards the elevators. Not quite the glamorous dinner youâd become accustomed too, but it would do. For now.
You hit the button to call the elevator as you slumped against the wall, the exertion of your long walk and the evening finally catching up with you. The elevator creaked and spluttered but it finally got you to your floor.Â
You scanned your keycard and swung the room door open, dumping your backpack and snacks onto the wood-veneer desk before flinging yourself onto the double bed. The no-frills basics were worlds away from the fancy hotels you were used to staying in with Bucky, but it was clean and comfortable. And most important of all, it was private.Â
âJust get the fuck out. Weâre done here so save your tears. Over. Finito. I donât need some liar in my bed, being sweet to my face then sticking a knife in my back â then not even having the guts to admit to it when sheâs caught red-handedâ.
Finally alone, you allowed yourself to weep. To mourn the end of your relationship and the man you thought Bucky was, versus the man he turned out to really be. To grieve, to bid farewell to the life you thought you had (and would continue to have) with him, and the way you thought he saw you. It wasnât just about losing him and tarnishing your memories, it was also grieving for a future and a life you thought you were going to have.Â
âI donât care. Youâll figure something out, sweetheart. Youâre just lucky this is all Iâm doing after everything youâve pulledâŚâ
Large, wracking sobs took over your body as you curled up on the hotel bedspread and allowed yourself to feel it all. You ate the chips and drank the soda, barely tasting either. You turned on the TV and let the black and white movie on the one working channel serve as background noise. Fatigue eventually swam over you, smothering you like a weighted blanket.
Soon there were no tears left and the well had finally run dry. Mercifully, sleep finally came for you, and you gave into it without a fight.Â
And you slept. And slept.Â
đ
Bucky was at his desk looking at paperwork when Steve came back into his home office. He was doing his best to ignore the nauseating rush in his gut, trying his hardest not to think about you and the way your face had crumpled as he confronted you. Most likely it was just your guilt, anyway.
âBarton said the shipment arrived right on schedule, everything accounted for,â Steve advised as he poured himself a shot of bourbon from the small bar setup in the corner of the office. âAnd Samâs out at the shipyard, running through the plan with Rumlowâ.
He was desperate to address the elephant of the room and ask Bucky how he was holding up, but Bucky had previously insisted nobody bring your name up. So he didnât.Â
âAll on board. Said we can iron out the details next weekâ.
âPerfect, thanksâ.
Steve nodded, downing the last of his glass as he placed it on the ornate tray and headed to the door.
âOh, and Steve?â Bucky called out to him.
âYeah, Buck?â He turned to face his friend.
âDo youâŚ.you uh knowâŚwhere she went? AfterâŚwhat happened?â He asked, the tiniest hint of hesitation in his otherwise firm tone. Most people wouldnât have spotted it, but most people didnât know Bucky like Steve did.Â
Steve shook his head, âNo, Buck. Some of the men saw her leaving on foot a little while agoâ.
Bucky swallowed but his face betrayed no emotion, âOn foot?â
âYeah. I guess she didnât have a lot of optionsâŚâ Steve shrugged.
Bucky nodded, âYeahâŚI guess I just assumed sheâd book a cabâŚor call one of her friendsâŚâ he said wistfully as he looked back down at the papers across his desk.
âShe left her phone. Scott found it by the front door, next to her purse. Iâm not sure she took anything with her, actually,â Steve mused.
Bucky frowned, âNoâŚphone? NoâŚmoney?â
Steve shrugged, âI donât think so. But thatâs good, right? You said yourself she was probably just playing a long-con to get your money tooâŚâ
Buckyâs gaze dropped back to the desk, his grip on the fountain pen he was holding tightened, the nib shaking from the force of his strength.
âYou okay, Buck?â Steve asked tentatively as he watched the way the pen shook.
Any hint of vulnerability was immediately snuffed out as Buckyâs eyes snapped back to Steve.Â
âOf course. Fine. Let me know what Sam saysâ.
Steve nodded, âRight. Iâll call him nowâ.
As Steve closed the door, the pen snapped in Buckyâs hand.
When Bucky throws you out of the house for a betrayal and won't listen to your side of the story, you know the only way out is through - it's time to start over. Maybe this was never going to be your happy ending.
(Standalone series - not related to any other my other stories/characters)
Hello! I know I said this would be a 2 part series but this part of chapter 2 felt like it's own section, so I've created a mini chapter to bridge the two parts and keep us fed - this is a flashback. Part 2 still to come! Thank you all for the love and engagement you've given this story, as always reblogs and comments are appreciated!

Around 18 months earlierâŚ
This was the shift from Hell.
You mustâve accidentally cursed yourself; it was the only explanation for the non-stop chaos the day had wrought. Apologies to any magical being you may have offended.
The kitchen were somehow out of both maple syrup and hash browns. Roscoe mustâve messed up the inventory order again. The customers affected by this egregious error were certainly making themselves known when you broke the news, while Roscoe sheepishly hid back at the grill. You understood their anger, what kind of diner doesnât have hash browns or maple syrup?! Sure, you shared their pain â but throwing a spoon at your head seemed unnecessary.
The soda machine had leaked all over your arm an hour into your shift and you couldnât shake the sticky, goopy feeling no matter how many times you had washed your hands. Your shoe broke, the sole flapping against the floor with every step. A table who had spent their entire two hours there demanding an array of elaborate substitutions and âsofter napkinsâ stiffed you on the tip, despite you bending over backwards to help them out. You found yourself counting the minutes until you could clock out, go back to your shoebox apartment, and bury yourself in bed. Not long to go.
âHonâ, sorryâŚâ Lou called out to you, in that tone he always used when he was breaking bad news, âI know youâre swamped â but can you take care of the gentleman in the corner booth? Marcy just went on break and I gotta cover her other tables and whip that jack-off in the kitchen into shapeâŚâ
You sighed wearily, you were due to clock off soon and were closing out your section. But you took a deep breath and nodded over at him, âalright, Lou, but only cos itâs youâŚâ
âThank-you Honâ,â he beamed at you gratefully, disappearing into the kitchen to go yell at Roscoe.
You wandered over to the corner booth Lou had pointed to, swallowing your frustration and fatigue. There was a man sitting by himself, his face obscured by the menu he held up to read. His fingers curled over the sides of the paper, littered with gold rings and scars. One of his hands seemed to beâŚmetal? A strange glove, perhaps? You could see from the sleeves alone that the dark suit he wore was expensive. Not to mention what appeared to be diamond encrusted cufflinksâŚ
Huh. You at least hoped youâd get a good tip out of him.
âGood afternoon, Sir, Iâll be taking care of you today,â you said sunnily as you pulled your notepad and pen from your apron. âWhat can I get you started with? Some coffee maybe?â
The man didnât move. The menu remained upright. He was so still it wasnât almost eerie. You briefly had a crazy thought that he may have died and nobody had noticed, then dismissing your silliness as quickly as it arrived. Besides, dealing with a corpse in the diner was the last thing you needed today.
A few beats passed, but he still didnât respond. You cleared your throat and tapped your foot to alert him to your presence. Still nothing. You frowned, maybe he didnât hear you. Maybe he had airbuds in or something.
âSirâŚ? Would you like to order?â you asked again, your tone a little more strained this time.
Silence. But you saw one of his fingers twitch so you knew he was still alive, at least.
You were used to rude customers, the ones who were outright hostile towards you, and the ones who treated you as if you werenât there. This was nothing new. But the stress of your shift with the combined fuckery of everything that had gone wrong meant you were hanging on by a thread. Your usual hardiness and thick skin were weakened, and your customer service mask slipped.
âLook buddyâŚitâs incredibly rude to just ignore your waitress you knowâŚâ you snarkily told the hovering menu, âare you gonna order or what?â
You realised what youâd said too late, clapping your hand over your mouth as an amused chuckle came from behind the menu shield. Just as you went to apologise, the paper dropped to the table, revealing the mystery man behind it.
You blinked, a little stunned at the sight of him.
His chestnut brown hair was slicked back into a perfect bun, complimenting the light dusting of stubble on his cut-glass jawline. Pouty pink lips curled into a smirk as his large, bulky frame manoeuvred in the booth to get a better look at you. But you were most struck by his eyes, so blue and piercing that you could drown in them. Better women than you probably had.
âOh, Iâm sorry, I-â you flustered.
âDonât be,â replied the man commandingly, his voice low but soft, âyou were right. That was rude of me, Iâm very sorry. I was lost in my own world there for a moment. I hope you can accept my apologyâ.
You gawped at him, surprised at his reaction. You felt your face flush with embarrassment. âUhâŚyeah. Sure. Sorry, I shouldnât have snapped at you; itâs just been a long dayâŚâ you admitted sheepishly.
He nodded and studied you carefully, his gaze sweeping you from tip to toe. It felt exposing to be looked at like that, but you couldnât deny the hint of a thrill it gave you too.
âWell, Iâm sorry to have added to it,â he smiled at you.
And what a smile. A knee-weakening smile. All white teeth and warmth. And maybe somethingâŚdarker?
âMy name is Bucky. Bucky BarnesâŚâ he extended a hand towards you to shake, his smile dangerous yet enticing, âDoll, Iâd love to hear yoursâŚâ
