Nobody does that hazy, soulful, and almost creepy sound quite like Temples. I was a huge fan of the psychedelic summery-ness of their first album, Sun Structures (2014), but Volcano, released this March, has been gaining a lot of momentum in my playlists. With such distinct melodic structures reminiscent of the Beatles, each song on this album can be listened to individually or as a set. Don’t miss the almost James Bond-like theme in “How Would You Like To Go?,” or the dead-on musings of “Mystery of Pop.”
Pressed for time? Start with “Born into the Sunset” or “Oh the Saviour,” two songs from this album that distill much of Temple’s iconic timbre into 4-ish minutes of eyes-shut, volume-up happiness.
