We are running a small convention Friday to Sunday THIS WEEKEND! Content ranges from an MCU rewatch for Clint Barton and Natasha Ramanoff, panels on a range of community interests such as Barton Farm, hockey and Bridgerton, and fanfic, poetry, and crafting events. Here's how to join us at our community discord where the con will be taking place.
Our community rules will apply. In addition:
- Attendees can choose to participate with sound and/or video on or off. If you would like to ask a question during any of the panels, please type 'Q' or 'Question' in the chat if you'd like to ask yourself with sound on or type your full question in the chat and the moderator will ask for you. Please make sure that you are on mute during panels unless asking a question.
- Panelists will use sound, but video is optional.
- Every panel and event will have a moderator to help things run smoothly.
- Will will not be recording or transcribing any content and ask that attendees also respect this for everyone's comfort. You can feel free, however, to make notes, summaries, and copy chat text if you choose.
- If you have any questions, please ask in the comm discord '2026 con planning' channel, or @ paperairplanesopenwindows or inkvoices on the comm discord.
- Please be respectful of everyone taking part in our small con and have fun :)
Each panel will last 50mins, including questions. The start times for all panels and events are in UST/GMT below. (What time is it for me?) A shared google sheet is also available on discord. Everything will be taking place on the 'con specific' voice channel, with the exception of the MCU rewatch which will be in the 'General' voice channel.

One of the contractors at work is a dude who recently moved here from the Bay Area. He is used to Northern California, which is to say that he is NOT used to the general Tornado Alley attitude towards Thor dragging his dick across the plains and causing massive destruction on a semi-regular basis.
Namely, the fact that we get them at all, and the fact that the general Midwestern response is to wander outside to see if we can see it.
We have bad weather forcasted the next few days and I had to talk him through the site tornado plan and storm shelter locations (we have six on site, my office is actually inside one) to head off the poor guy's anxiety and also I had to admit that yes, I also share the general Tornado Alley brain damage and go outside to try and see it when the sirens go off.
Poor man thinks everyone in tornado Alley is out of their minds and as one of those people I can't even deny it. 'I seek shelter if it's heading this way' did not reassure him, he's convinced we are mad.
To answer the question in the notes, @what-about-second-tmblr ; when I visited Sacramento and LA some years ago, the sensation of a minor earthquake shifting the ground around just barely enough for a human to feel it had me freaked out and basically lying flat on my back outside going AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA while the Californians looked at me like I'd lost my mind.
Can confirm. Canadian here. We had a blizzard a few years back with gale force winds that blew two feet of snow into metre-high drifts. The only thing moving outside was snowmobiles, and the army in APCs, taking people to hospitals. Our local radio station announced it was -40 outside with a windchill of -85 (celsius) and would people please stay the hell inside and keep warm. Hubby and I looked at each other, wondering what -85 feels like...? So we bundled up and mushed over to my MIL's house a couple of kilometres away, where we met his two sisters who, it turned out, had asked themselves the same question. We all had tea, thawed out for a bit, and went home.
saw someone post "I don't understand why anyone would have separate 'winter tires' unless they're just looking for things to spend money on" and looked at her account and she's from LA. which is funny but I think we're all guilty of similar behavior sometimes. if you see people spending time and effort on something that seems stupid to you it's worth considering whether you're the Californian in this scenario
Reminds me when this guy from BC asked me whether Ontario hadn't heard of this great road safety invention, those metal reflectors that get hammered into the road surface to show lane markings at nighttime. My response: "You obviously haven't heard of this other great road safety invention we use in Ontario, called snow ploughs?"

At the very least, it means asking permission before embedding fan art or linking directly to fan fiction in coverage. It means thinking twice before asking actors or artists to react to ships or explicit fan creations. It means considering whether a fan reasonably expected their work to stay within the community it was made for. Most importantly, it means treating fandom spaces like real places inhabited by real people, many of whom seek out these spaces precisely because they offer a sense of belonging they may not find elsewhere.
Fandom does not need to remain in the margins to deserve respect. But if journalists are going to cover this subject, and we should, we have to be willing to approach these spaces with the same care, ethics, and nuance we would bring to any other community.
