Hey Gang!
We have received a lot of questions about a month long/everyday/31 day challenge for BPD Awareness Month. So here is a big post about it.
Here’s our version from 2013:
Day 1: Think of the last time you were really angry. Why was that?
Day 2: Why did your last friendship end?
Day 3: Do you self-harm? If yes, how?
Day 4: Have you ever attempted suicide?
Day 5: Have you ever written a suicide note?
Day 6: How’s your love life?
Day 7: Have you ever dissociated? If so, how often?
Day 8: Do you have any other diagnoses? Which ones?
Day 9: Do you get mood swings?
Day 10: What kind of impulsive decisions have you made?
Day 11: Is there anything you do that helps keep you grounded?
Day 12: What’s your relationship with your family?
Day 13: Are you a perfectionist?
Day 14: Do you ever become obsessive?
Day 15: Have you ever changed your opinions, depending on the people you are with?
Day 16: Does your style (clothing, hair, etc.) change a lot?
Day 17: What are five of your biggest fears?
Day 18: Do you worry what people think of you?
Day 19: What are some lyrics that describe what you’re going through right now?
Day 20: How do you usually express yourself?
Day 21: How many people know about your diagnosis?
Day 22: What’s a random story from your childhood?
Day 23: How do you think other people see you?
Day 24: If you could pick one year of your life to give back and start over, which one would it be?
Day 25: What’s one thing you wish non-borderlines could understand?
Day 26: Name three fictional characters you relate to.
Day 27: Do you have any bad habits?
Day 28: Do you consider yourself high-functioning or low-functioning?
Day 29: If your mind was a house, what would the house look like?
Day 30: What is your “safe place” when you are upset? (This can also be a person.)
Day 31: Post a picture of yourself and tell us your story.
This one can be used, but it is kindof negative and triggering to some people. I have spent hours looking for the great one from last year. The person who made it (voidkissed) disappeared and I couldn’t find the full post anywhere. HOWEVER, I found 2 people who had the first and second halves of the questions (shout out to @only-if-you-say-so and @bpdclarkegriffin-inactive/ @irlfaithlehane). So here is the really nice one from last year:
Day 1: Please take some time to Introduce yourself! Share any information about yourself you’d like to!
Day 2: When did you first begin to be aware of your BPD? How did you feel then vs now?
Day 3: Do you have any consistent coping habits? What are they and what do they help with?
Day 4: Related to your BPD or otherwise, what’s an interesting quirk or trait you have?
Day 5: What is one of your favorite things someone has ever told you about yourself? Or even something you realized/told yourself?
Day 6: We know identity disturbances are a big issue we often deal with - maybe take this time to list some things you know about yourself, anything that helps you have a sense of self. (Don’t worry if this isn’t easy - you can try again later, or even ask someone else to help point out some traits)
Day 7: What’s a symptom or issue regarding your BPD you seem to struggle the most with? Do you have any methods of dealing with it?
Day 8: How is your concept of Time? What about other types of measurement (distance, weight, ect)?
Day 9: What are some good traits you have that you think relate to you BPD? Try listing 3.
Day 10: There seems to be a lot of people who are both Otherkin and have BPD. If you’re kin, feel free to use this space to talk about your kin type(s)! If you’re not, maybe talk about things you identity with but aren’t kin of.
Day 11: Free Space! Is something on your mind? Feel free to talk about it, or anything else!
Day 12: Representation is important. Do you know of any characters with BPD? And/or do you headcanon any as having BPD?
Day 13: Is there anyone who has been particularly helpful to you, regarding your BPD or even in general? Take a moment to talk about them (or all of them, if it’s more than one)!
Day 14: Think about your past self (from 5 minutes ago, 2 weeks ago, 4 months ago, 3 years ago, any time). Write them a message you know you could have used at that time.
Day 15: Why don’t you post a photo of yourself, of if you’re not comfortable with that, a photo of anything you like! Alternately, tell us or show us something you’re working on.
Day 16: Think of someone close to you. What’s something you’d really like them to understand about your BPD?
Day 17: Similarly - what’s something you’d like people without BPD in general to understand?
Day 18: How has your day been? Anything interesting happen?
Day 19: Do you deal with any psychotic symptoms, or even ones that you’re not quite sure about?
Day 20: Everyone has music they relate to. Do you have any you’d like to share? Feel free to explain why it’s important to you.
Day 21: Is there anything you’ve recently latched onto for your identity? What and why?
Day 22: Do you think your BPD has affected your sexuality/your relationship with sex? If you want, you can talk about that. (I know this one can be uncomfortable for some ppl so as an alternative/along side: Has your BPD affected your Gender? If so, how?)
Day 23: What is a piece of media that’s very important to you? Why?
Day 24: Tell us about your name - Do you like it, did you pick it, and is there any history to it?
Day 25: What are some personal goals for yourself, be they just general or related to your BPD?
Day 26: Think of a prominent and important relationship in your life (Familial, Romantic, Platonic - whatever). How is it doing right now? How does your BPD affect it?
Day 27: How is dissociation for you? How often does it happen?
Day 28: How do you generally express yourself?
Day 29: Think about a moment from your childhood, or this past year, or anytime really, that you want to talk about, good or bad! And do that.
Day 30: When was the last time you had a good, solid talk with someone? How did it feel? Did it help?
Day 31: Think about the future, even just a day or week ahead. What’s 1 thing you really want to do, or are looking forwards to?
I hope this helps all of you who asked about it! Happy BPD Awareness Month!
