Out of curiosity, I looked up MAC cosmetics on ebay.
This was my first result:
This is a blatantly obvious counterfeit; Others? are not so much.
Here are some ways to spot fakes (on and off line) after the jump:
1 MAC's products are always circular. There's product pots are never square. The blushes, eyeshadows, pigments, lipglosses: All cylindrical.
2 MAC does not make sponge tip brushes. MAC does not sell their product with any applicators. Their quads don't come with brushes or anything. If what you're buying has any type of brush, it's fake.
3 If there are only numbers to identify a color and not a name. Its a fake. You can't go to a MAC counter and ask for A91. No, you ask for "Twig".
4 MAC does NOT sell their brushes in a kit. These, found on another site, are fake.
5 Do you see the sticker on the top right hand corner of the box? This is an indicator of fake product. MAC boxes have the name printed on them.
I'm against these counterfeits because consumers don't know where they're coming from or how these products are made. These frauds are hiding behind a name people trust. We don't know the contents of counterfeits and they are probably made of the absolute cheapest materials that won't even work or hold up well. You're better off taking your 25 bucks and spending at the drug store and getting quality from Maybelline.
anywho, if you STILL want to buy from people off of ebay: Before proceeding to check-out, take a look at the official MAC site. You can make comparisons to the actual product even if you've never even held MAC products in your own hands. If the products aren't listed there anymore,take a look at the archives of Temptalia, Makeup Geek or another trusted blog.
