Ooooo tbh I never really thought about that. Artful still remembers Devesto ofc. He never lost his memories, his mind just gets clouded for a while when he's starving to an insane degree. Like he still thinks about his family and wishes he could go back to before the whole incident happened, but he's stuck like this. He doesn't want Devesto near him at all, afraid he'll hurt him. He doesn't want to lose his only son because of himself.

He could've easily had himself a decent lunch, yet a bit of humanity still lingered inside himself, making Jean feel a little guilt at the thought of killing these two.
