Putting in some work! At least my knee is looking better! #aclsurgery #acl #recovery #physicaltherapy #workitout
Slowly but surely!
When i tore my ACL for the second time I thought that I was done with sports, i came back stronger than ever playing d1 college soccer and even represented the u17 Mexican national team in the u17 women’s world cup (2014). I just gotta say… Don’t give up on your dreams, chase them as fast and for as long as you can (and even if you don’t accomplish anything, youll be fit af at the end haha jk) just work hard my friends, it’s worth it.

Again.
I just found out today that I tore my ACL again on the same knee. I had someone who was really there to support me the first time and now he’s gone. I’m having a hard time.
Okay so I just recently tore my ACL, meniscus and LCL and just had my surgery four days ago now. I'm an athlete and as you can imagine this recovery is already killing me. Not being able to do anything sucks, and I don't know how I'm going to make it. But I was wondering if you had any tips on staying in shape while I'm out. Is there anything you did or you know about that could help me from not gaining weight and getting too out of shape? Anything would be greatly appreciated!
In my experience, my physical therapists worked me really hard. To where I was in really good shape because of my rehab. But, I realize that with the meniscus tear you’re off your feet even longer. I would recommend to do ab and core exercises, and after that a lot of biking! I was encouraged to bike pretty quickly after surgery (since it’s a non impact way of building muscle). And I started biking all the trails I had ran in the past. That way I stayed active outdoors until I was cleared to run.
I haven’t signed in to this blog in months :( So, I have no idea when you asked this. Anyway I hope you’re recovery has been going well. Best of luck!
SoOoOoOoOoO it has been exactly 7 months since my ACL reconstruction sUrGeRy and I decided to made another freestyle video. ChEcK iT 0uT eh?
how long after acl reconstruction can i fly
I have a huge numb patch near my incision and it hasn’t gone away. Shaving it is the most disgusting feeling ever. #ACLsurgeryprobs
Definitely know that feeling
It’s been a while.
Hey everyone. I tend to forget about this blog for years at a time. Now, that I have once again injured my knee, I remembered I had this blog (ha). Anyway, as always, feel free to ask, share, or vent about ACL tears, knee injuries, or sports injuries in general. Good luck in recovery and getting back in shape!
Hello! I got injured 28 February this year, and just got diagnosed with a complete ACL tear and meniscal damage on 8 May. I'll be undergoing surgery in two weeks on 31 May. Thank you for making this Tumblr; it's good to see that other people have survived their recovery journeys. I'm planning on doumenting my recovery process on my blog because of this. I hope everything's going well for you!
Hi there! Again, I haven't checked the messages for this blog in a while, and I don't get notifications cause it's not my main blog. Anyway, You're probably around 4 months now, how is it going so far? I hope your recovery has been going smooth!
How many months post op did you start running? My pt and surgeon said 6 and that seems really ridiculous because I feel like I should be able to run now at 2 months
Hi! Sorry idk how long ago you sent this, but since this is my secondary blog, I never got a notification about it :/ Anyway, my surgeon/pt were also very cautious about running to quickly into recovery. I started running about 5 1/2 months post op. I think when I was 4 1/2 months-ish I felt pretty good. I started running but realized I was still overcompensating; I could feel my good knee was getting most of the impact, cause it would hurt later. So, I waited and in the end it was 5 1/2, 6 months that I really started running. Sorry, idk if this is the asnwer you were waiting for, but most of the time, it's better to listen to your pt and surgeon. The WORST thing would be to re-tear! So be patient, soon enough the months will pass.
Hello there,
So I always forget to update this blog since my recovery is so in the past now. (already over a year since my surgery!) Anyway I see there's a good number of new followers. I'd love to know how many months post injury/post surgery everyone is at. How are everyone's recoveries going? Any good recovery stories anyone wants to share? Please do! And as always any questions please feel free to go the the ask box!
I’m just so frustrated with my progress. I’m two months out of surgery, and I know I’m exactly where i’m supposed to be and whatever, but It’s getting to be so stupid. One moment, I feel perfect and I want to dance and live life the way I love to. And then two seconds later my knee is swollen and...
It's hard. But yeah, one step at a time. It's all you can do. Be happy about the small victories; they'll build up and before you know it you'll be at the end of the recovery.
A torn ACL is probably the worst set back I’ve experienced but it was a hell of an obstacle to say I’ve overcame
i am sad all the time...
how do you deal with it? oh lovely follower people somewhere out there?
how do you handle the pain…not the physical pain, that’s easy…how do you handle the pain of not being able to do what you love?
anyone?
It sucks, it's completely terrible not being able to do that one thing that keeps you sane, that makes you happy. But, that's a feeling that you can channel into your recovery. It seems long long long, but you're constantly getting better. The day will come when you're back and it's gonna be so awesome, and you'll appreciate it that much more.
Things My ACL Surgery Has Taught Me:
1. Patience is a virtue.
2. You are stronger than you think you are.
3. Big victories are won with small battles.
4. Shit happens.
5. Recovery is a crooked path, but it’s worth it.
6. Pain meds are da bomb.
An acl injury is such a journey.
First, you tear it doing something you love. In my case, it was playing a school soccer game.⚽ Then, you get tests, xrays, mri, and get the results. They tell you that you have an acl tear and it takes 6 months-1 year to recover from surgery. You are shocked...
I agree completely.
