π¦ Cottagecore Island TipsΒ π¦
~ I wanted to share some tips for creating a cozy cottage vibe island ~
+ Lots of flowers & lots of different flowers : Having lots of different flowers in clusters all around your island will give it a much more βmessyβ / natural look. My personal favorites are the white, yellow and orange flowers.Β
+ Small cliffs around building and paths : Again with the βmessyβ more natural look, having small (inaccessible to villagers) cliffs with rocks, trees or flowers on them give your island more dimension. It also helps create that cozy, forest vibe too.
+ Lots of trees (mostly cedar) : Having lots of trees gives off a forest-y vibe and add to the natural feel of the island. A lot of people doing a more cottagecore theme seem to be going with cedar, probably because it gives a much more forest vibe. But also keep in mind that the other trees will change with events and seasons (while the cedars remain the same).
+ Random natural looking resting places : Placing random stone and stump stools around your wooded forest area (surrounding it with flowers) will add a touch of whimsy to your island while also giving your villagers somewhere cute and peaceful to hangout.
+ Weeds arenβt your enemy lol : Weeds are great for filling in small gap areas between buildings and around the outside of garden areas. Theyβre also great to randomly place around in more dense wooded areas. It just gives your island a more natural cluttered look.
+ Wood and stone : Mixing wood and stone elements help keep the natural look without looking too uniformed. Consider mixing fence types together too.Β
+ White wood is popular : Customizing your wooden stakes, log benches and stump stools to be white seems to be a popular choice in the cottagecore community. I think itβs because it adds a fresh and clean look to your island. And when mixed with darker wood and stone it helps you avoid looking too uniformed.
+ Custom pathsΒ : You donβt need to have custom paths to create fun aesthetically pleasing paths but it does make it a bit easier to get the exact look you want. You can still play around with the shapes you can make with the paths already offered in the game. Iβve seen people make heart shape paths, circle paths and mixing paths together to make an even more interesting look.
However, if youβd like to create your own custom paths (I know some people donβt play online so they canβt download any already made) hereβs a great tutorial I found to help teach you how to make your own custom stone path.
+ Spread out your villagers : A lot of people opt to place their villagers homes neatly next to each other in a row (and it is very nice looking) but if you want a more cottage/forest/woodsy/natural vibe to your island you should consider spreading out your villagers some. You can still create aΒ βresidentsβ area for your island just maybe donβt make everything so symmetrical lol.
+ Create micro environments : Be sure to keep in mine the cottagecore theme of your island. Some ideas could be an outdoor cafe, a mini library, a crafting area, a community garden, a farm, a picnic area, a farmers market.. thereβs so many cute ideas.Β
Okay, thatβs all I got for now. I hope this was somewhat helpful :)

I loved @solomvns fairy circle pattern so much, I adapted it to an 8-tile version to fit around tree stumps! The original set of mushroom patches and fairy circles she made can be found here.
All these pieces can be downloaded from my creator code at MA-3898-5356-3354!

Well, other than the cliffs behind it being unfinished and bare, I think I might finally be done with my little forest park! πΏ
sadly, decorating gardens isnβt one of my skills
made a simple rustic sack of flour designed to be used on cushions! pairs well with the bread-making setup I have outside the house. itβs all-purpose! πΎ
Finished at last with my little mountain lakeside picnic area!
This one I was struggling with for a bit but I think I finally like it.
