Theory about Lucy and the book of END

This is going to be pretty long. But please read haha.

I was thinking about this one for a while, since this scene actually :

Lucy is talking about rewriting a part of the book of END in order to save Natsu. She is clearly saying that a small part could be enough.

My original theory, right after I read this, was that Lucy will change the author name, and replace Zeref Dragneel by Lucy Heartfillia. It wouldn’t affect Natsu’s “demon being” or whatever, but his life would be linked to her instead of his brother.

I was certain that, even if she doesn’t do so (which is basically stealing lmao) she will do something close to it.

But what bothers me is the fact that she wrote all of their memories with Natsu.

Obviously these aren’t the only pages, and it isn’t a small part.

Without talking about the fact that it’s impossible to write that much in this short amount of time (*cough cough*) I didn’t understand the meaning, or how the hell that saved Natsu.

But I re-checked. And I found something pretty interesting.

While Lucy was writing, the book glowed and the letters came back in :

But it wasn’t the moment where Zeref died.

Indeed, the book stopped glowing for some minutes, and then it desappeared :

“The book is disappearing”

“Zeref was defeated”

“By the time this book disappears, Natsu will also”

It’s only when the book disappears that it shows Zeref died. The glowing part has nothing to do with it.

Now look :

If the book wasn’t desappearing, or if Zeref was still alive, then there’s no way the book glowed in the middle of a sentence. It just doesn’t make any sense.

So I came with this conclusion :

Lucy signed her writings. She is the author of this part of the book.

The book glows, as if to aknowledge the new author, linking her life with the one of the demon.

Zeref dies. Lucy is the only author still alive now.

The book disappears, only to reappear in a place where the new author’s life is linked.

In her room, in her parent’s mansion, maybe somewhere else.

I like the idea of Lucy hiding the fact that the book of END is with her, that Natsu’s life is linked with hers. I mean, how could absolutly nothing happens in this one year of time ?

Well, it doesn’t have to be this, but honestly, I would really, REALLY like that to happens, because I had so much expectations for this the first time I read it, and in the end, Lucy just writes her memories and it saves Natsu ? It just doesn’t make any sense, so frustrating.

But by seeing this today, that everything that I expected could be the truth, because pretty much everything works good, it brings me hope, especially with the sequel. I hope.

Haha. I hope. I also hope that Mashima will read this and it’ll give him ideas.
