— O Teorema Katherine.
girlhood this girlhood that. woman you are 26
I got a message about how this is supposedly mean. I am holding your hand when I say that refusing womanhood and clinging onto girlhood will not save you from the realities of adulthood. I am not saying you are not young. 26 is incredibly young. you are free to love the concepts and media associated with girlhood but there is much to love about womanhood that you are not seeing. there is something to be said for being free of the shackles of girlhood and childhood. you are an autonomous being. you have power over your life and the paths you will take. it is easier to see the paths when you start taking yourself seriously instead of waiting for others to do so. no one is saying you have to be serious. womanhood is joy too. a different shade of yellow

For a long time, I’ve been thinking about how everything is a performance, how everything on Earth is one big theater. Take gender, for instance: in reality, gender doesn't exist. From a rational, modern western scientific perspective, humans are animals that were once nomads, fishermen, and hunters; there wasn't a huge difference between a person with a penis who went out with the others, someone who giving birth to children and defended the group when a dangerous animal approached. Over time, these peoples developed systems of communication and material organization, and it became advantageous for a small segment to control a larger one through rules and norms.
Personally, in my own mind, it makes no difference whether I wear a dress or trousers. But on the outside, people look at me with either interest or distaste, depending on how they perceive me. If I have long hair, jewelry, and a dress, I’m treated very well; but if I have short (or messy) hair, wear shorts and a shirt, and no jewelry, I’m invisible/ugly.

🇺🇸
For a few days, I was lost in thought, pondering just how soluble all the layers of who I am in the world really are. Being a woman, being black, being bisexual, coming from the margins; all of this will end at some point; it is all temporary. Yes, it is a thought quite detached from reality and (perhaps) delusional.
But I also get deeply mired in those same solubilies. It really sucks to be poor; it sucks not to have multiple paths in life; it sucks to be conditioned to a life of limited attempts where I can only realize my dreams through sheer luck. The luck of becoming a valuable influencer out of nowhere, the luck of winning the lottery, the luck of finding a rich person to marry me (though I don't actually want that kind of luck—I’m not a gold digger), the luck of receiving a multi-million or multi-billion dollar inheritance (which won't happen, because both sides of my family—my mother's and my father's—are poor).

I hate you epitome of innocence being represented with blonde hair I hate you lightness representing goodness I hate you "angelic features" automatically being read as blonde hair and blue eyed with pale skin I hate you whiteness as the default for morality I HATE YOU I HATE YOU
Guess who's being the most annoying on this post
this post isnt about blondes and how its so unfair to them that theyre always viewed as good healthy holy morally upright outstanding people no matter what this post is about racism its about colorism its about white supremacy making people with dark features and skin literally feel evil. this is not about your stupid disney princesses or achilles or your fave anime boys being allowed to be unhinged feral shitty awful people and this sure as hell is not an opportunity for blonde people themselves to show their entire pasty flat asses and beg praise for "breaking the stereotype" by being shitty unhinged people. fandom people you are 192% of the problem. white people in general you are 1,000% the origin of the problem. this site is so unbearably white my GOD

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

And??? Let me like it again??? Clearly it deserves more??
People are like “it’s so beautiful no clouds at all” it could use a little clouds if I had to be honest.
