What happened in Italy is a shame. This is the start of a very dark era where every single person living Italy that isn't a white cisgender heterosexual man will see their rights swept away. Still can't believe this happened one of the most developed country in EU.

Please please if in your country there's any kind of election approaching, go and vote. Take a position, even if it isn't exactly aligned with your views, just vote for the closest.

If everyone had voted, she wouldn't have won.

Some days ago a video became very popular in Italy. It was published by "Fanpage", an italian website with news and interviews.

They published an interview to a girl. She is 22 and in January she came out to her family as lesbian with an open letter in which she wrote she was in love with a girl.

In the middle of the pandemic, she was kicked out of her house, with no money or any of her belongings. She tried to get back her things but the family didn't let her in.

They changed the lock on their door so that she couldn't get into the house.

She did not receive support. She received audio messages from her family members. She was threatened to death. Her mother said that she'd prefer a dead child than an anormal child. Similar things said the other family members.

She knows she did nothing wrong, she knows it's absolutely normal.

She tried to start a lawsuit against her family, but still nothing.

This is a shame. She knows she hasn't done anything bad. But how many queer people out there are leaving the same situation, or worse? How many are too scared to be themselves with their families, are leaving a lie everyday?

How many are trying to "get rid" of their feelings? How many can't accept themselves for who they actually are?

This is wrong. In any possible way. In 2021, this is unacceptable. None should feel ashamed for who they love or for who they are.

Please, if you are living a similar situation, know that there's nothing wrong with you. Don't be ashamed of who you are. You deserve love. Just because things don't seem good now, doesn't mean they will stay like this forever. Keep fighting, hold on. There will be a happy ending.
