OK OK so I’ve managed to watch the vd and read the report thing on it
I’m so happy they did Amane’s story well, definitely the best one so far. It’s so beautifully gut wrenching
The thing that breaks me the most is how much Amane is trying to justify that her killing her mother was purely out of religious punishment. It definitely did play a part, but seeing her pure, unfiltered rage at her mother when she was killing her shows a much deeper meaning. As well as the flashes between Amane beating her mother and the opposite happening. So much of the murder was driven by the amount of pain and hatred and fear she faced at her hands that seeing her weak on the floor like this just caused something to break. And the request to dial the ambulance being her reasoning to try and justify what she did.
With how Amane is so shaky about not changing her stance on her religions view of medicine as that would make her believe her mother died for nothing. And having to come to terms with the deeper underlying reason for the murder. Just oh my god this is so good.
The voice drama is absolutely heart wrenching as well. The way Amane said she wasn’t abused just hurt me so badly. Especially how the lyrics show she was taught to view abuse and punishment as love. As well as Es not wanting to push the idea any further and accepting it’s going to take a long way for Amane to heal and come to terms with what happened.
Another thing to mention which is a little different to what I was just talking about but still think is interesting. The mention in the end report of how Amane’s religion outlawed forms of entertainment and media (that likely wasn’t their own) puts a whole new perspective of things. You’ll see real life cults doing that a lot as a way to prevent any outside ideologies or beliefs making people question their way of living. And it seemed Amane, as just a child, kept trying to find a way to have entertainment anyway. So that’s why Magic is structured like a kids’ tv show, the whole structure of it was from something that was banned in her religion but she still took comfort in. As well with a lot of the video game elements and chiptune music in non-demonium as well. Little side note but this brings me all the way back to Amane’s positive parade cover in trial 1, I always wondered why it had chiptune in it. I guess we know why now.
Another thing to mention is that even though the cat wasnt mentioned in non-demonium (as far as I know) that doesn’t make it any less of an important moment in Amane’s story, just we already knew a lot about the incident. It very much seems a lot of this trauma around medical practices came from her being caught helping a cat only for the cat to be killed (likely by her mother). Which was one of the major dominos leading up to the murder. Just how everything fits together so well is just mwah. I’m so satisfied with how they went out with Amane’s story. My girl got her justice. Now all we need is to secure an innocent vote for her.
The concept of Yume being doomed from the moment she was born meant that it didn't matter if she had the correct blood type, the correct body, or if it was 'flawed' as happened, because Yume would have ended up dead anyway.
If Yume had had the correct blood type and body, she would have been used essentially only as an extension of Yonekura or as an organ, being used as an object and utility for her blood rather than as a person, being killed the moment she was no longer enough or when Yonekura saw her as 'useless'.
What happened was that Yume didn't have the correct blood type, which I see as the least bad outcome. In the other outcome, Yume is only used and tortured until she is useless. In this one, they try to make Yume salvageable and usable until she escapes and has a few years of freedom before dying again at the hands of her mother and Dr. Kan.
It didn't matter if Yume was good enough for her mother because her destiny was to be used regardless of any of the possible options because either way Yume would end up dead. If Okazaki won the killing games, it's likely they wouldn't have let her escape and she would have died anyway.
