God I actually miss new leaf fandom so much. It was such a passive aggressive bloodbath filled with fake panic attacks and people doxxing each other over little digital squirrels

I’m just imagining these 20+ adults absolutely blowing their stack over a spritely lad of like, 12 griefing in their virtual flower garden and then blacklisting him from the internet FOREVER

Oh it was Wild. There were blogs where people could anonymously say things about other people. One was started specifically for nice things to be said about others, and the meaner asks would be deleted - so another blog got started where it was ONLY mean things. And it wasn’t just petty insults, some of the things were meant to cut DEEP.

Arguments would start over someone’s town looking too similar to another person’s. Others were told that their towns were unoriginal and that everyone was sick of seeing the same layout/themes all the time.

There was once a divide across the acnl fandom over whether hacked towns were okay or not. It was a lot.
