Alala was the personified spirit (daimon), or goddess of the war-cry. She’s the one to whom soldiers are sacrificed to for their city’s sake during war.

According to Pindar, Alala was the daughter of Polemos, the personification of war, and was characterized by the poet as “Prelude of spears, to whom soldiers are sacrificed for their city’s sake in the holy sacrifice of death”. Her aunt was the war goddess Enyo and her uncle was the war god Ares, whose poetic epithet is Alaláxios (Ἀλαλάξιος). As such she is one of the attendants of Ares out on the battlefield, along with the rest of his entourage.

Your app speaks of a character who pushes forward and is very driven in terms of war? I got the feeling she was someone who put aside a lot and focused instead on doing best by her own standards and striving to become a better warrior herself. Alala is the goddess called upon before a fight whom is supposed to help carry warriors into battle with strength and courage. She is very closely tied to the other deities associated with combat, most especially Ares ( as would be customary ) but also Athena ( as the battle cry was often related to that of an owl thx Athens )

He grins sheepishly, shrinking a little. She was right, like she often was. He just couldn’t say no to something that combined two of his favorite things. And who could blame him, anyway? “H-Hey, don’t get me wrong! It tastes fine. Just wasn’t what I was….” he lifts a forkful, examining it. “…expecting, I think.” she must think he’s complaining again, just his luck. As an attempted show of appreciation, he takes a much bigger bite than before. It’d be better with more carrot, but like he was going to risk saying that out loud! “You wouldn’t think a place like this would have so much good food.” he says this with one of his cheeks slightly bulging, but only for a moment until he swallows. Before he can finish his thought, a red light rips through the street and its screeching through his ears. Yarne immediately tenses, covering his ears and curls into his lap. It’s got him trembling, even when the sound passes. He tries to shrug it off, but can’t keep his eyes off of the retreating vehicle when he finally sits up again. 

“Yeesh, what was that horrible thing?” his ears would be ringing for at least another few minutes. “I-It’s not gonna come back, is it?”     

[ 🛡 ]       While Yarne was very obviously not actually complaining about the cake (she’d heard him complain. verbally. many a time) she couldn’t help but want to remind him that it was better than nothing at all. After all, it wasn’t as if cake had been easy to find in their future-- the ability to have any of it at all even in this place was nothing short of miraculous. Even so, she makes a note to inquire about more carrot-heavy cakes in the future, just to keep this incident from repeating itself.            “It is unusual, and very far from what we’d consider the ordinary, but it’s filled with things that are practically luxuries. The apartments here have baths that actually heat their own water in moments, and there are places you can call to have a meal made and delivered to your door.” Especially convenient for someone as incapable of cooking for herself as Kjelle. The relative good mood caused by what she’s talking about disappears as she watches Yarne jump, reminded of his overall skittishness. Frowning, she picks up another strawberry half from her dessert and flicks it across the table at him.

          “It’s a medical conveyance,” she explains, and leans forward to spear another piece of cake with some degree of viciousness. “They are common, as are the police vehicles-- the sirens vary, but they are close enough. You’ll become used to them in time.” She hopes. However she has to remind herself to be a bit more careful about making assumptions about Yarne, but sometimes... it’s difficult not to. “Don’t worry, you’re not going to get hurt by them, unless you step into their path-- and you’re ridiculous, but you’re not stupid.”            Coming from Kjelle, that’s almost a compliment.

He dips a finger into the icing, sampling it and disturbing the carrot design on his slice. The texture is nice. He’d heard rumors of carrot pudding, which sort of made sense on how it could be made, but this was something else altogether. 

He takes a bite, mashing it thoughtfully between his teeth. Yarne’s expression reflects neither disgust or enjoyment, though he did appreciate such a peaceful outing and that much was evident. 

“…y’know, this doesn’t really taste like carrots at all.”

[ 🛡 ]      “I did try to sell you on the shortcake instead. I never trust a cake involving produce where I can’t actually see it.”           Not, of course, that Kjelle indulged in cakes very often (this had, actually, been only the second time) but she figures it’s only sensible to be able to see an ingredient if a confection is to be named after it. Settling her fork against the side of her plate, she leans back in her seat, plucking a strawberry from the top of the cake to flip into her mouth and chew on absently.  

“Do you want to ask for a different one? If you don’t like it, there’s no point in continuing to try and force yourself to eat it.” She was, perhaps, being just a bit too lenient with the Taguel, but it was this or have him resume being frightened of the city as a whole, and she’d had rather enough of that. “You’re not getting any of mine though, so don’t even try it.”

      Were it not for the fact that she’d not received anything at all, the knight would have chuckled at him. Instead, she simply reaches out and pats Inigo on the shoulder, her expression schooled into her usual indifference.          “Is it not the thought that counts, Inigo? Though I would have certainly believed that the gifts you might have thought to give out would have been returned to you, at least.” Perhaps that’s just a bit too harsh. “...Ah.       “I... what?” Puzzled but not bothered, so to speak, the knight casts a curious look, wondering if they’ve mistaken her for someone else. “What isn’t over?”

    He’s hardly one to slack off, if ever and being here was no exception to that rule. What good it would do he cannot say, but training also served as a distraction from the myriad of thoughts that plagued his mind; many of which were questions that would go unanswered. All else was dismissed as form and technique were practiced and any slight mistake was immediately corrected; a wooden spear he may possess but the most skilled could make do with anything and such was his way, to adapt when necessary to the changing world around him. Yet he still retains his wits and does not miss the young woman who had stopped to watch with a critical eye. He could tell as much as he too shared those same eyes.

    “And what do you think?” He asks while rising from his slanted position to stand tall once more, resting the wooden spear over his shoulder. “Often it is better to see with fresh eyes, what did yours see?” Knowing full well his form had been flawless, but the spear she had in her possession intrigued him as it often did with those that chose his beloved weapon of choice.

[ 🛡 ]      Were she so inclined, Kjelle could likely count the number of others she’d met in her time within the city devoted to the lance on one hand. It’s no wonder she would stop, then, to observe another practice; in particular one so masterful as this. Her own style of fighting is not so swift, nor so flexible, especially given her shield and heavy armor, and so it is equally perplexing and inspiring to watch. Granted, she doubts she’d ever take to such a style of fighting on the battlefield, but it would bear some study to see if she might incorporate any of it into her own style.           Of course, she’s very much aware that her observations have not gone unnoticed, but she is expecting reproach or discomfort when he finally chooses to stop and speak, not a confident inquiry as to his form. Lifting a hand to her chin, the knight lapses into thought, considering him carefully.  

          “You’ve impeccable form,” the knight finally admits after a long moment of silence, and it almost pains her to admit she cannot find fault. “Truly, I could not do better myself if I so wished. However-- do you fight only with a lance? No shield at all? It seems a bit...” Foolhardy. “...dangerous.”

Not that it surprises her, but having Kjelle make use of sarcasm just like that is straight out amusing. There’s no need to pick on her, however. That’s something her old self would’ve done, and she won’t blame her friend for being suspicious. She’s changed. Nohr has changed her.

Cooed Severa whilst picking Marth up. Inigo would’ve definitely suit it better, but she’s not about to say it out loud anyway. This little creature takes part in many of her doubts, but it can wait for now. If not for a small fact, she’d be quick to take on the offer and shop to her heart’s content. She tries to tone down that frown, but it’s useless.

             "You see, I’d love to go shopping. But I have no money, and window shopping is torture for me, and you know it! Maybe another day… when I have a job.” There’s a bit of sadness within her voice, but nothing that she can’t just push aside. “And then I can drag you with me, mess up your schedule and all, sounds like a great time to me. Instead… How about you get me home? Uh, this place called ‘apartment’.”

Upon retrieving a paper, she hands it Kjelle.

             "It says T-5, for once I have no idea how to decipher it. Gods, do they always do that? Just throw in the incomers just like that? Kinda cruel if you ask me.“

[ 🛡 ]      Despite being what could ostensibly be called ‘the serious one’ out of their lot (topped only by Gerome, who bordered more on grave than anything else) Kjelle’s sharp tongue came with an equally sharp wit, when she saw fit to apply it. If nothing else, Marth’s nature is one that tests her patience even while he reminds her too much of people she’s fond of.           “Don’t encourage him, lest you wish to be the one taking him home for the evening,” Kjelle warns, though she doesn’t mean it. Foisting the Riolu off on anyone else isn’t something she’d do, and really, she actually quite likes having him around. Reaching for the paper the other offers, she has to restrain a snort of amusement-- someone within the group of the scientists was certainly having fun with Severa, weren’t they. “Which, as luck would seem to have it, is in the shopping district. Lucky you, don’t you think?”

          Handing the paper back, Kjelle motions out to one side, beckoning for Severa to follow.            “The number denotes the district you are in, which is the fifth. The letter tells you which apartment you will be in. You’ll be pretty high up, from the looks of it.” A look is flashed in Severa’s direction then, one brow arcing high. “As far as jobs go, I would try to help, but I am hardly suited for most of the means of employ offered here. I do not doubt, however, that you will have better luck.”            After all, even if she was often prickly, Severa was at the least a far cry better at being something approaching ‘personable’ than Kjelle would believe of herself.           “Come, I’ll show you how the ‘trains’ work, and we’ll see what sort of place they’ve put you in.”

          “I’m used to food that’s a bit more... simple,” she settles for saying, not quite sure how to explain the minimal rations she’d had to stick to in the future, or the heartier but still not overtly grand food she’d gotten to have in the Shepherds. “How is it?”
