Stop Outsourcing Your Hopes
Hope is powerful. Far more powerful than you think. But hope doesn’t originate in thought, it’s generated by your feelings. Your hopes are your wishes and dreams that become your intentions. Your hopes are your highest visions for your future. Specifically, how you will FEEL in your future.
Obama campaigned on and delivered on hope as an important quality in a leader. By embracing this concept, we the people entrusted our hopes and fears to be enacted on by someone who had our back. Someone who we trusted. That someone is now gone but not forgotten. Many of us lived our daily lives with hopes for a continually improving tomorrow. Energetically we had a leader who was an optimistic team player, a visionary, a catalyst.
The incoming leader doesn’t inspire and project much hope when he speaks. He speaks with archaic, unconvicted paternal judgment and with a distinct message of re-creating the past. Something that is impossible to do, as EVERYTHING is constantly unfolding into the never-before-experienced future.
So now what do we hope for?
An answer is this: We take hope back into our own hands from those who we may have entrusted it with. We generate more hope ourselves and empower others to be more hopeful than ever. We reconnect ourselves to our own hopes and motivate ourselves to make them our reality. We more consciously balance our lives so that we create time and energy to step into leadership roles.
How to do this? By listening. When listening is developed to a super-power level we expand our awareness far beyond the ego’s wall of defending our need to be “right.” We develop empathy for ourselves and others through listening in a way that includes the concept that there are many versions of being “right.” With over 7 billion versions of human truth, compromise is essential.
