World Belly Dance Day 2026 & Shimmy Mob fundraiser is done and im taking a short break to recover.

It was an amazing weekend full of music, dance, and friends.

Join me, Adara Din, and Shimmy Mob team Washburn for a flash mob on May 9th.

11am-Noon

At the Enrichment Center in Ashland, WI

$15 recommended donation; all proceeds will go to New Day Advocacy Center.

After learning the dance, we'll flashmob at 2 locations in Ashland and then celebrate World Belly Dance Day at an open mic fundraiser at South Shore Brewery Taphouse in Washburn!

The second Saturday in May is World Belly Dance Day, and this year is the 16th year of Shimmy Mob, a global flash mob event raising awareness and critical funds for domestic violence programs all over the world.

Last year, our team raised $400 for New Day, and we hope to hit $500 this year.

i recently saw a tiktok where a woman asked "girlies: what are some things you do to be more whimsical? I love knowing cute little habbits"

and i've never loved a comment section more. some of my faves:

I talk to basically everything as if it's a person. I greet passing crows as my "cousins." I respond conversationally to my cats. I yell "same to you!" when inanimate objects make loud noises. I say good morning to plants. I thank my phone when an alarm goes off. When objects don't act the way I want them to I explain what I need them to do, or tell them they're being rude. I tell my car when we're stopping for gas.
