It’s always good to see Adam. Unexpectedly is her favorite, like now, though the times they very intentionally plan to meet are definitely nothing to complain about. Those times, she looks forward to. But for now, she laughs a little from her table, feet from his in the midst of the buzzing cafe.
“You’re just familiar, but it helps that you’re pretty,” Frankie laughs as she teases him playfully, picking up her tote and moving it up her shoulder. She grabs her tea and receipt sketch in one hand, her pen in the other. “Mind if I join you?” She asks, nodding towards Adam’s table though she doesn’t wait for an answer. She’s on her feet, maneuvering through the miniature labyrinth made from backs of chairs.
Frankie sits across from Adam, sliding the receipt canvas over to him. “A Frankie Garneau original, free of charge. That’s priceless, you know,” She teases, easing into a smile.

he perks up at the compliment, sitting a bit straighter in his seat and flashing a self-indulgent smile. “i am pretty, aren’t i?” twelve year old adam tries to hide, embarrassed by the attention and compliment. but post-camp adam has outgrown that fear and gained a fair amount of self-confidence. he inclines his head, motions to the open chair across from him even as she moves.
adam takes the offered gift, pads of his finger making sure to avoid the impeccable sketch. “oh, you don’t have to tell me that, i know how to appreciate a work of art.” ignoring her ‘free of charge’ comment, he fishes out two gold drachmas and places them in front of her. “a night at elysium on me. or the styx. whichever one you prefer.”
