Literally haven’t been able to stop staring at this (not an unusual occurrence with an Ashton piece!) all day. Like, I can’t stop coming back to it. The micro-expressions, how tender Simon is looking at Baz. The fangs!!! I love this, so much!

bazs time in the coffin is easily the most traumatic fucking thing that happened in the whole series. six weeks! no light no water no food no shower no bathroom break no conversation no hope. just him and his loud ass mental illness, telling him he’s not worth saving.

and then nothing! we get numpty jokes. these books are so messed up.

Like what the fuck. What the fuck. He's a child.

It makes me so angry!! I think it’s something it’s dismissed because it happened for a reason and there was something definitely going on, but it was still a kidnapping! For six weeks and it’s like Baz never got upset about it or we never got to see how it affected him, only the limp. And actually, it bothers me the jokes Fiona makes. Not only did she refused to pay the ransom, she jokes about it, she blames it on Baz and she treats Baz different because of it

After re — reading Carry On for the one hundredth time, I came across this passage.

Baz does experience some sort of aftermath of being kidnapped and tortured (does being trapped in a coffin with no food but blood for 6 weeks not count as torture?)

and his own family didn’t even care! His father, Malcolm wanted to pay the ransom but Fiona was too proud to pay it off so it took her 6 weeks to find him.

Baz went through six weeks of torture, displays signs of PTSD but by all means, let’s make fun of him because he was kidnapped by numpties!

Trauma isn’t funny and reading these scenes where his experience was downplayed and mad fun of, was painful and not necessary.

One of the smaller, slightly positive aspect of the situation was this ;

Simon, before even realizing his feelings towards Baz, was more than willing to help look for him. Because, without mentioning it, was genuinely worried for Baz and his whereabouts.

Before even liking Baz, was willing to push aside his differences with the Pitch family and help look for his supposed arch-nemesis.
