There is a black magnet inside of my chest. It’s about one inch thick, about an inch and a half in diameter. It’s tucked behind my ribcage, sitting on my diaphragm and continuously pressing against my lungs. It weighs approximately 2 tons, similar to the weight of a car. In extreme temperatures, it finds it’s way into my throat. It temporarily cuts open my lungs, expelling oxygen into my chest and arms, and leaving air trapped between my joints and a clear trail of heat as hot as a lightning strike. I’m running up the wall trying to escape it and the wall has no end; Despite the obvious– I never can recall how it’s inside of me. There is no time to think about what I feel, what I said. There are no moments where I can catch the spaces of emptiness. There is no boredom— there is imminence, and there is insatiable plight for after life.

take one, take two. piece by piece, I float and catapult myself into every fickle thought, any past, present, future hesitation. you won’t look twice until you’ve already crossed. you’re holding steady until you’re not. some sweet pill and a crick of relief. mesmerizing to find comfort in small spaces, in the cabinets of my home, in the shower, just outside of it, against empty walls in my kitchen, the cold refrigerator doors, flat on the pavement in the middle of the road. but there’s a breeze inside. and you’re less likely to speak. don’t let anyone in. they’ll break as you do. and you are always breaking.
