1. Set goals and objectives: decide what you want, what type of qualities you admire, what type of goals you wish to achieve.
2. Assess strengths and weaknesses: examine yourself, what you are good at, what you need to improve on. For example if you have lots of ideas and plan, but you’re also a little shy you know that’s what you should work on
3. Take out toxicity: things, or people, that constantly hurt you or make you feel less than should be taken out of the equation for growth. This is easier said than done, but at least minimize the things contaminating your path to progress.
4. Create an action plan: a way to slowly change your behaviours and habits, this is hard because you should be realistic too. Again if you’re shy this could mean putting yourself out there more.
5. Implement plan: this is when you put into play what you were planning. This step is hard to because it requires work, and this is the part where you need to be sure of your goals that you made earlier. You’re putting in all this effort so be sure it’s for a good reason.
6. Analyze the effectiveness of the plan: after a while of consistently implementing the plan analyze the impact of it. Do you feel happier? More fulfilled? Do you think it’s going well? If it’s not it’s probably because you’re expecting too much, and need to pace yourself. If that’s the case break your plan down into phases so it’s manageable and doesn’t overwhelm you.
7. Forgive yourself (and others): along the line you may have made mistakes, or others may have done small things to upset you. While it’s important to recognize when you’ve been wronged it’s also important to address it in a healthy way. Talk out issues and work for forgiveness. This allows you to be rid of negativity and focus on yourself and your path.
8. Develop discipline and routine: this is something that happens after constantly repeating things that work for you. Repeating good behaviour and habits so much so that they become a part of you. This isn’t based off the “treat yourself” self-care rhetoric, rather it’s hard work you’ve put into changing your ways of thinking and dealing with failures. Instead of regression after failure, your work ethic and mindset should be to find another solution, and to not beat yourself up.
9. Maintain or cultivate relationships: having positive warm people in your life will make any hardship easier and having them support you will be motivation.
10. Always be learning: learn from people around you, learn from the trees, learn from the relationships that didn’t work out. This will help you understand others and to improve your own life. Don’t become static. If anything becoming the best version of yourself is impossible, it’s unattainable because you are constantly changing and life is not static either. You need to be the most adaptable and kind version of yourself.
It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”

What did I do with my life before the leaving cert?
Life goal: live out of my car and travel the continental United States. You can’t truly appreciate your roots until you’ve explored every nook and cranny. I haven’t given up on you, America!
When I think of living out of a car I don’t think of it like this but this looks pretty cozy.
Brilliant use of space in the back of a truck. This is a really inspiring idea for minimalist living. I’m personally not that interested in traveling anymore—more of a homebody now, especially with four cats to care for and a town that fulfills almost every need I have (all it needs is mountains, a river, and the ocean)—but I love this design.
"HOW MANY MILES TO BABYLON" BY JENNIFER JOHNSTON
Thanks to Ms. Hughes, who spotted this great wordpress site on How Many Miles to Babylon. (click title link!). It has a really comprehensive set of LC notes on the text. It covers relationship themes and looks at cultural context in depth.
Don’t forget we also have a full set of notes on the novel on this blog here: http://stmichaelsenglishdept.tumblr.com/post/31650358843/how-many-miles-to-babylon-notes-s-healy .
You will have plenty of study notes between both sites. Enjoy!
Source : Travel Journal
hi! so on the 23rd im leaving for my europe trip w/ my family to france, spain, italy, and switzerland. im planning on carrying a journal with me to record my experiences while in those countries and the trip itself in general. problem is, i dont know what to write! can you give me ideas on what to write as in like did visiting this place make you happy, what were the people like; anything similar to those! sorry this isnt specific enough/good grammar
Ahhh, sorry I didn’t get around to answering this question sooner…lots of time-sensitive ones have been sitting in my inbox. Whoops.
Anyway, yes! Travel journals! I love traveling. I love journaling about traveling.
Ideas:
where did you go? what did you see?
what did you eat? did you fall in love with the food? the desserts?
what was the best meal you had there?
most beautiful sights?
most unique experiences?
cultural differences that have surprised you?
nice people you met
where did you stay/sleep?
what is it like during the daytime? what about nightlife?
sketch a little reference map
glue in receipts, ticket stubs, etc
historical context for some of the old buildings/sights — what did you learn about them? did you go on any tours?
what did the people around you wear?
what fun activities did you participate in?
best/coolest thing you did there
did you ever get mistaken for a local instead of a tourist?
bits of the language that you may have learned during your travels
More creative ideas:
Take your journal and explore. Intend to get lost. Take random turns, wander the side streets, find a place that looks interesting: a cafe, a museum, an old church, a park. Sit with your journal and record your observations.
Sit somewhere and people-watch. Write down the interesting things they do that you don’t see in your home country.
Find a memento at each place to collect and paste in your journal — something flat and easy to find in different cities, like a leaf or a flower, a metro/subway ticket, a map, a page from a guidebook, etc. Try to get a whole set.
If you could come back to this place again, would you? Would you come by yourself? With a friend? Family? A lover? What would you do if you had the freedom to explore it completely?
Pick a random person and invent a life story for them. Write it down.
If there’s one thing you really love to eat/drink that you can find in most places (coffee, desserts/pastries, bread, pizza), try tasting some at every city where you stop. Rate each one and record your responses about it.
This is so comforting, thank you.
Wake up early. Drink coffee. Work hard. Be ambitious. Keep your priorities straight, your mind right and your head up. Do well, live well and dress really well. Do what you love, love what you do. It is time to start living.
Thank you for the reminder. Needed to read this. (via dream-on-darling) yes. (via therewillbewaves)
