I apologize.
This was adorable and yet heartbreaking at the same time because you, madame, write angst, live angst, and breathe angst and you know what else? Angst.Â
Angel understands me on a spiritual level.Â

ELLIE BBY. did you know Gerry likes Gawain? :}
.O. -gasps.- Really?! Oh that's amazing! Wait, they know each other? -laughs.- Small world!
Aww congrats bby. You got a job.
I know! It's very exciting. 8] I haven't worked at a job since the diner, and that was forever and ever ago. So it'll be good to get back into the routine. ovo

Hopefully I'll see you guys for a bit tomorrow before my flight.Â
G'night. <3
If the library was reprieve, Gerry wouldâwell, letâs refrain from cynicism, shall we? People like Adiel and Gawain rekindled the love of fairytales in him, sometimes. They reminded him that good, honest, and innocent people still existed. And they were the ones most in need of protecting. They were in need of hospitality and sanctuary, both of which he provided whilst here in his bookish domain. He would never turn someone away, not from the library, at leastâŠ
âI ran into somebody elseâs fist,â he said before he could catch himself. âItâwas an accident though,â he added quickly, ears reddening marginally. He relaxed slightly when Ellie accepted the candy and smirked back at her, letting her nab the candy like a little bird. A scavenger dove, if such a thing existed. âI am not,â Gerald countered ruefully. âYouâre disappearing like the Invisible Chick.â
Gerry hadnât seen much silence from Ellie. True, sheâd been shy at firstâbut once out of her shell, it was damnably hard to imagine her ever retreating back into it. And he certainly didnât want her to, either. And even if he didnât reply to every-single-thing the little gatling gun rattled off, Â he still caught every bulleted word; highlighted the important parts, and returned them accordingly. She deserved that. Adiel deserved to be listened to, because she not only had a lot to sayâwhat she said was always important. Heâd never let her think otherwise if he could help it.
âOh good,â he nodded in acknowledgment, smiling faintly. âIâm glad to hear things are brightening up on your end. Makes sense, though. Winter is over and Springâs here, things are always going to get brighter when the seasons start to change.â
The poeticism faded somewhat as he contemplated Ellieâs words, before tilting his head to one side. ââŠWell,â he began calmly, arching a considerable brow at her faintly. âEllie, do you have a jobâorâŠrather, would you like one? Being an assistant librarian, I meanâŠitâs not exciting, or glamorous, butâŠif you really want to help, I could use all I could get around hereâŠâ He patted the hand on his arm and smiled lopsidedly. âAnd keep your voice down about the knife, kid, lots of people would love to know what youâve got on youâŠâ
He sighed, then shrugged and sauntered towards the two double doors. âOkay. First, I need you to flip this switch, and turn around to watch and make sure every light goes off, okay? Itâs kinda cool, actually.â He pointed to the back of the enormous library with a smile. âIt starts there and ends at us, which means we have to bolt out the doors right after, Â because it gets really frigginâ dark in here. And then the monsters come out,â Gerry added teasingly.
Fairytales and princesses and knights in shining armor did exist, Ellie knew they did. They didn't look like the illustrations in books, but they were everywhere. Allen was a prince; Zeb was a knight; Gawain was the sweetest man in the world and reminded her of an elf. And Gerry was her protector. If she could help him believe in something as nice and innocent and pure as fairytales again, with the help of Gawain (of course; not that she knew they knew each other), then she would be perfectly pleased with herself. And proud of what she could accomplish.Â
Her hands clapped over her hand in shock at his words, lowering only when he continued and nodding slowly, nibbling on her chocolate. "...Well I'm glad you're not too badly hurt," she said, scuffing the toe of one boot and staring at him sincerely. "I don't like the thought of you being really hurt. Not at all." She snorted at his last words, though, shaking her head and grinning. "I am not. I have gained five whole pounds in the last month or so! If anything I'm getting fat."Â
Adiel was like that. Quiet and meek at first, and then she never shut up. That was a newer development, though, since she had left New York and gone on the epic search for her cousin. She couldn't be quiet and meek anymore, not when she was searching for a man whose face she didn't even recognize. She had to be loud and she had to gather attention because that way, she would be able to find what she sought for. But she never felt insignificant with her friends, and definitely not Gerry. Even when she asked him what seemed like silly questions in a book she was reading, he always paid attention to her.Â
She really appreciated that.Â
"You're a regular poet, Gerry," she commented, grinning, before her expression shifted to wonder at his suggestion. "...Really?" she whispered, before grinning and nodding madly. "Oh I'd really like that! I only lounge around the house, I'd love to be able to actually do something. And it'd be fun, I think. And I'd get to see you! Could I?" She clapped a hand over her mouth at his warning, nodding madly before leaning against his arm. "Yessir."Â
Listening to him intently, she smiled and nodded, before bouncing over to the switch that he had pointed to, waiting for him to be closer to her before turning it off swiftly. Looking back at the library, she watched as the lights slowly started to flicker off, watching with a growing smile and bouncing on her feet giddly. "Ohwow," she whispered, feeling that a quiet voice was necessary. "That is cool."Â
