…How long have I been asleep for?
Hey Dad?
I’m kinda nervous… that I won’t be able to evolve.
What a cruel fate to befall our friend here!
Dasai sits in his room, hands shaking violently as he stares at them. His stomach is still lurching at the memory of her head, severed and just staring at him. He couldn't save her- he tried so hard to, got Sheogorath to bring her to the Isles, got fucking AZURA to stay quiet. Yet- it was all somehow in vain. She was there to protect Vivec, help him like he had tried to do for her. A noble act and a horrendous end, all mixed into one. After some time, the mer hearing distantly, Voryn's words; he wanted Nerevar to stop, so she could speak. He even wanted to give her a chance to explain despite it all. Not even being allowed to say goodbye, even if she didn't love him back, Dasai wanted that closure. Yet, he wouldn't have it, never could, never will. And that damned necromancer- yes, he was a boon, always would be. Always better than him, always- hell, he's even married to the REAL hero of the Three Banner war. If anyone was meaning the vestige in their time, it was referring mostly to Fainion, not him. That damn bosmer got all the attention. ...What is worse, Dasai sees the resemblance to his adoptive father in the man. Why is it always the golden skinned, pale haired ones? Couldn't it, just for once, be people like him that are the 'saints' in these stories? This fucking vicious cycle of pain. He just wants it to end. Stop having the same fucking curse as the sharmat. At this point, is Voryn that anymore? He has Nerevar now, his happiness, and a fucking cure. Dasai tried to be a devoted son, helped him when he felt overwhelmed, yet was cursed when he took steps too far. Everything hurts to the mer, everything will hurt for a very, very long time.
And Dasai just cries, into the hands that could not save her, and he repeats those words over and over through his blubbering wails, soon evaporating into incoherent lamentation.
