A Long Journey

Have you ever been on a journey that no one else is on with you? Its solely you. Every day and every night. No one seems to understand the journey, nor do you need them too. But I do wish that on this journey someone would ask to walk with me, or near me. I do not wish to partake on this journey alone, but I wouldn’t mind if that was the way it panned out. Tonight, as I sit in my room, white walls surrounding me, I look and wish for simplicity. I, by no means, want an easy life. I just want to appreciate simplicity again. The subtle feeling of a smile, a laugh a cool breeze on a warm day. I crave simplicity in myself. I want to walk down a path where I do not judge myself  or others, I do not love anyone else before loving myself.

Tonight, I miss the days I wished away. All those days where I begged and begged to just grow up and move into the next chapter. Now as I lay here, 22 years old, no real plan, working full time and without those friendships five minutes away I beg for those days back. I am grateful for the life I have created and built for myself, but I will always miss and cherish those days where you would simply pass by a friend, or have a ten minute conversation about something that may have been insignificant at the time. If the strong urge of missing these moments has taught me anything, it is to cherish everything handed my way in life. Love all of it. Good and bad. XO Anna

Four Years.

If there is one thing I have learned in college, it is to surround yourself with every kind of person. Those that may be selfish, immature, a little bit insecure, they are all just as valuable as those who are selfless, lift you up, and provide positivity and strength throughout your four years. They teach you to be patient, kind, and understanding to every circumstance you may encounter in your life, whether it be good or bad. At the end of the day, it is the selfish, immature, and insecure ones that need your strength and passion the most. They may not ever admit it, but you are a light within their overpowering darkness. So, keep smiling. Keep digging deep into the souls of each of those beautiful people you meet throughout college because before you know it every single person, whether good or bad, vanishes when your time runs out. Four years seems like a long time, but it flashes in front of your eyes quicker than you can ever imagine. Take college for all that it is worth and appreciate every single moment, no matter how small or big it may be.

Feeling lonely tonight and pretty low...It has been a while since I have felt this in the depths of my heart. Nothing significant has happened yet I make every minor detail significant in my head. Sometimes I feel as though life would be easier if I could step away from being a girl. My emotions get so overpowering and I have absolutely no control over them anymore. Judgement

I was thinking today about how much judgement and hatred there is surrounding each of us no matter the environment we are in. Not enough people take the time to truly know the person in front of them because of the reputation clouding their judgement. Why are people the way they are? That question cannot really be answered until you take the time to go beyond what you have heard, or what people have said. Their character can mean so much more then what someone may "generalize" them as. I find it sad If people do not acknowledge that in each individual and honestly I feel bad for those who cannot look beyond the imperfections. All of us are beautiful people and I love that I take the time to acknowledge that.

Lately, I’ve been exploring my own experience with transformation and evolvement. Being self-aware, I am more conscious of how I view people, and most importantly, how I treat them. These thoughts encouraged me to think about things on a broader scale.

Can we forgive? Can we have compassion? For Chris Brown. For Lindsay Lohan. For Evelyn Lozada. For people who have made mistakes. For people who hurt—like we are? People who bleed—like we do. Cry—like we do. Desire love—like we do. Truly want to be seen—like we do. Can we not judge? Aren’t we all in movement in becoming enlightened and truly divine beings? Are we not ALL wounded, and all in movement towards healing? When it comes down to it, we are ALL brothers and sisters. We don’t need to be ruthless with our fellow siblings.

Most importantly, aren’t you deserving of a fresh start? You are! You really are. When we meet people where they are and accept them as the ever evolving being that they are, we provide a room for people to BE—to be who they are becoming. If you treat a person like a dog, they’ll act like a dog. If we practice compassion, it’s likely that we’ll illicit a healed response in the individual. Provide room for others to show up and tap into their power. Provide room for YOU to show up wholeheartedly. Start with yourself.

I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to bind yourself to the past. You can CHOOSE to be someone different. While, I hold you accountable for your actions, I also support you in becoming a better, wiser, more aware YOU.  

Grow through life. I wouldn’t expect you to be the same person you were when you were 13 and you’re not 23. Grow. Grow brother. Grow sister. Practice self-compassion.

I never bother trying to understand people. When I do try I often find its a ridiculous waste of time. Therefore I rarely try. I myself dislike to be read. As open as I am on paper there are facets of myself that I would rather be kept hidden or at least until I can find the appropriate person...
