One of the foremost reasons I like solarpunk is that in the mainstream, being eco-friendly is about sacrifice. Don’t buy new things, don’t buy plastic, don’t take unnecessary trips—etc. It’s not sustainable unless you’re a saint. It’s exhausting to abstain from consumerism without having alternatives like the things Solarpunk emphasizes: community, resources held in common, sustainable hobbies like gardening and mending (and all other sorts of repair), free and accessible public transportation, etc. Solarpunk is about creating a world where being eco-friendly is about joy, not deprivation.

So many other kinds of human connection get put to the wayside with our current culture’s obsession with romantic love.

Don’t get me wrong it’s ok to ship romance but it doesn’t have to be the only type of relationship we celebrate in media, fandom space included.

okay look i had a lot of beef to pick with s2 andor, but mon mothma crashing out in the club at her daughter's wedding over being both a bad mom and bad friend, but a good rebel, is like literally everything i have ever wanted from a work of fiction ever. failing at all the signifiers of good womanhood, but scoring full points at doing what is needed to follow your political conscience, including sacrificing & betraying your closest ones on the altar of what you know to be morally right.
