The morning I left my home in Kenya, I heard a thundering outside my window. It was that grey hour before dawn, having rained torrentially the night before. I stepped outside my door onto the soaking lawn and saw through the fog our Thoroughbreds galloping wildly around. The horses had  swept down from their northern pastures into the valley and broken through the fence. It was one of the most surreal, beautiful moments of my life… standing barefoot there while they churned wildly, happily around me. The perfect goodbye.
