It wasn't necessarily a bad day for Adrian, yet it wasn't the best either. Waking up for a run that morning, he knew it was going to be one of those days that everything that could go wrong: was going to go wrong.
After running a few miles, he headed back home and grabbed a hot shower. As he stood in the shower, looking at the hot water pour over his body, he looked at the scar on his lower abdomen where he'd had surgery because of that night. Sighing at the sight of it, he couldn't help but want to hurry up and get out of the shower. Rinsing off his body and washing his hair quickly, he wrapped a towel around his body and stepped onto the cold tile floor of the bathroom.
Wiping off the mirror, he brushed and flossed his teeth, making his way into his bedroom to get dressed. Pulling on a pair of light wash jeans and a striped t-shirt, he ran his hands through his messy brown hair and sprayed himself with whatever cologne was first on his bureau. Shoving his cell phone into his pocket, he grabbed his car keys and headed out of the front door of his house.
Most days, the scar didn't bother him too much, but for some reason, today it was just a devastating reminder of what had happened. He'd been over it for the most part, but staring down at it, he couldn't help but to feel disgusted with both himself and his father.
After a short drive, he pulled up into an empty parking lot, shutting his car off and grabbing his sketch book out of the back of the car. After a short walk, Adrian found the small area of the beach that he'd been going to since he was a teenager. It wasn't anything too special, just more private than the rest of the beach. Somewhere that he could be alone, clear his head. Sitting down on the sand beside a rock, he flipped to a blank page in his sketchbook and began to doodle on the page.
