Look Mum No Hands are kindly hosting a game launch party for Attack the Pack along with an exhibition of a few card illustrations and sketches.
I’ll post a few more images after the launch along with some info on where to buy a deck if you missed the Kickstarter.
Attack the Pack is a cycling card game that has been developed by Ben, Ben & Nathan to satisfy cyclist and gamer alike. I’ve been asked to join the team as illustrator and after doing a few sample cards I really can’t wait to tackle the whole deck. Thing is, we need to make it happen!

The London Open 2014 has been announced!
This time we've got the Phoenix of the North and the Dragon of the South in mid conflict. Fighting fire with fire, it's a heated battle that exists beyond time. This is what keeps the LPC alive and kicking!

It's interesting when you make a cultural reference inadvertently. This happens, I suppose, when you come from a different background than the one you currently live/work in.
This initial attempt at the London Open bike polo tournament poster has at least twice (in image and description) drawn links with The Animals of Farthing Wood, a cartoon and book series that, though I'm sure was available in Canada, was not as popular there as it was here in the UK.
Using the Spirit Animals of the LPC as a starting point, I brought in the Goddess Artemis (and her own spirit/companion animal) to lead the club's hunt. The heat of battle, however, is slightly dampened when you consider the how the image almost exactly illustrates the plot from Farthing Wood:
"The books tell the story of a group of woodland animals whose home has been paved over by developers. They learn of a nature reserve, White Deer Park, where they will be safe, and undertake to make the journey together. They form an Oath, promising to protect one another and overcome their natural instincts until they reach their destination."
You live, you learn, eh?
I am moving!
... my personal tumblr from adriennehawkes.tumblr.com to here, after painstakingly deleting all of the gifs and reblogs previously posted on lalblog.tumblr (rip). It made me realise how much crap I used to find interesting or gave attention to simply for being animated.
All future posts will be drawn by me, unless otherwise noted. Drawings will include a lot of bike polo, a fair amount of cycling in general, and hopefully more cats than before.
