alfie never really had the chance to get to know adriana due to the fact that they seemed to not have that much in common, she was a lot more outgoing than he was, and way out of his league. “i’m so used to doing assignments on my own so this is just not really my thing. should we exchange numbers so we can sort out when we wanna meet to work on it?” he fumbled with his words as he took out his phone, “i am free most weekends and most afternoons besides wednesdays and fridays, i do tutoring but other than that…”

she let out a soft chuckle, one that was light and almost silent. slowly looking up to him with an air of nonchalance surrounding her. “same,” she said with a single nod, “i do ‘em in the last week just bust it out,” she confessed leaning backwards in her chair. “for sure,” agreed adriana taking his phone quickly and stamping in her number. “i’m free this afternoon if you wanna talk about what we wanna do?”

ava had just finished her last class for the day and she was ready to get in her car and drive home, exhausted from a full day of back to back classes. the college carpark was just passed the football field so she always ended up having to walk right past football practice, which wasn’t that much of a problem, they were doing their own thing while she just wanted to get to her car. on this particular afternoon however, she was instead, hit by a football right on her back, causing her to jolt forward and almost fall down, luckily she was able to keep herself upright. “jesus fucking christ,” she shouted, turning around to see familiar male jog up to her, repeating his apologie several times. “aren’t you supposed to hit the ball through the two poles? not at innocent bystanders?” she raised a brow, pursing her lips at brandon, waiting for a response.

He hissed under his breath, he wasn’t the kind of person to even hurt a fly. Leaning down he picked up the ball and gave her an apologetic look. “uh, yeah thats usually the goal,” he said lightly, scratching at the back of his neck. “i’m so sorry,” he repeated one more time. “i didn’t hurt you or anything right? like you’re all good?”

alfie was not the kind of student who liked group projects, he was very much an independent worker and would much rather just do the whole assignment himself. so when he heard from the teacher that they were in fact, making this project a collaborative one, he shuddered. “great,” he mumbled to himself, tapping his pen on the desk. alfie wasn’t entirely sure who he would even want to be paired with, he knew practically everyone in the class and not one of them seemed to be a good match so whoever the teacher paired him with, he didn’t have much of a preference. “okay alfie you’ll be paired with adriana,” the teacher called out, not even pausing as he continued to read down the list. alfie picked up his things and walked over to the spare seat next to adriana, giving her a shy smile, “you dreading this as much as i am?” he asked, trying his best to make the situation a little more bearable by cracking a light-hearted joke to the brunette.

Adriana sat lazily in her chair, tapping her pen against the table as she chewed the gum in her mouth. She was clearly not in the class at the moment, her mind was elsewhere as she simply waited for the bell to ring so she could get out of the school grounds. The dark haired beauty only looking up once her name was called, a barely there nod before the boy was taking the seat beside her. “it’ll be fine,” she said with a slight shrug, offering a half smile towards Alfie.

It was late in the afternoon, the sun casting a luminous golden glow across the field. Brandon jogging up and down as they wen through the moves and strategies for their next game. Shorts and a football jersey, his hair bouncing with every step. He took the ball with both hands running upwards, kicking it from his stance in the middle of the field. He had completely underestimate his angel because before he knew it the ball was flying across and away from the poles and skewing towards a beautiful brunette walking alone. She was minding her business and clearly not interested in their training. Brandons face flinching as it hit at her body, “fuck!” he cursed running after her. “i’m so sorry, fuck, Ava, i’m so sorry,” apologised the light haired lad. Only knowing her vaguely from the classes he shared.
