Lame Duck Alert: Michigan GOP rushing through voter suppression legislation requiring photo ID to vote
Now Michigan is poised to enact this same sort of legislation which, if it becomes law, will require those without the financial means to procure a photo ID for voting purposes, to go to absurd lengths in order to obtain a free one. Current law allows voters without ID to sign an affidavit in lieu of presenting the ID.

Fight on!
Time to roll up our sleeves, organize and get to work!
What's up with this shady ass Ballot?! It should read Judge Deborah Thomas! I mean she is a damn Judge!
Time to vote for candidates that will represent all of us and not the privileged few! Remember this when you vote on Nov 8th! #advancingJustice
We can no longer sit on our hands complaining, we have to vote for representation and demand to be represented! #voteNov8th #AdvancingJustice
Detroit grandmother gets real with injustice-themed Halloween decor
A Detroit woman has decided there’s one thing scarier than any ghost, ghoul or monster this Halloween: the reality of being a black person in America.
Larethia Haddon, a grandmother, decorated her front lawn with a horrifying tableau depicting the inequalities and injustices black Americans face, including police brutality and references to the Flint water crisis. In a video interview, she explains which portrayal impacts people most.

High school student suspended for posting picture of dirty water in school bathroom
Hazel Juco, a senior at John Glenn High School in suburban Detroit, received an out of school suspension after posting a picture of discolored water coming out of a faucet in a school bathroom on social media.
Shortly after posting the picture, Juco was called to the principal’s office and received her three-day suspension for “inappropriate use of electronics in the restroom.”

This is some kind of madness! This girl was suspended just for posting picture of dirty water in school bathroom! She just wanted to draw public attention to this persistent problem! But they decided to punish the student instead of solving the problem!
We need clean water in black areas! We are human-beings! Stop this anti-black racism!

Activists William Lucka and Antonio Cosme are facing up to $75,000 in fines and four years in prison for allegedly painting “Free the Water” in large block letters up the side of a water tower in Highland Park. They added the graphic of a fist to make the painting look authentic and to show their own attitude.
Living in Detroit these folks reveal the conflict between residents and the authorities who don’t give a damn about citizens and highlight one of the biggest social crises - water service shutoffs.
The Detroit media blames Cosme and Lucka for vandalism, while they are raising money to support local organizations like Black Youth Project, New Era Detroit, BlackLivesMatter, the People’s Water Board.
Supporters have formed a Free the Water Defense Campaign for Antonio Cosme and William Lucka’s defense fund. The same group is hosting a fundraiser featuring Lucka’s artwork on August 13 and a crowdfunding campaign, Funded Justice, that continues through August 31.
Again Black activists face prison for raising awareness of things that matter. There comes a time when silence is betrayal.

“Government is the shadow cast by big business over society.”
— John Dewey
Anyone who supports the right to work law in Michigan is not a friend of labor! Remember that on ELECTION DAY!
