As soon as he’s established a friendship with someone, he’s more or less good to go. He sees interface as just another way of enjoying someone’s company, after all.Pipes is not very likely to make the first move, though, so it depends almost entirely on the other person. He’s aware he doesn’t cut the most dashing figure, so he figures it’s safest to wait for someone else to ask instead of embarrassing himself. If they don’t, it’s liable to never happen–which doesn’t bother him.

Pipes is not shy about his preferences most of the time! He doesn’t see any reason to be ashamed of the things you enjoy. Obviously, he’s not going to go revealing his wildest kinks to strangers, but at the same time, it’s not a matter of shame--just a sort of lingering sense of something like propriety. Probably, the closest he comes to being embarrassed is his interest in aliens. He’s aware not all Cybertronians think that getting down and dirty with xenosapients is a good idea. if he senses he’s in an atmosphere hostile towards those kinds of tendencies, he’ll do what he can to avoid bringing it up. And any situation where Pipes is hanging out with an especially charming or attractive alien who begins to show interest in him is going to make it obvious enough to show. He’s a very earnest fellow, and not very good at hiding it when he’s attracted to someone.
