Tomorrow the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre will begin performing at Lincoln Center through Sunday (Meryl Slay and I going on Friday:). I'll finish this series of posts with one of all nine dancers who attended this seasons shoot: Linda Celeste Sims, Glenn Allen Sims, Yannick Lebrun, Jamar Roberts, Samuel Lee Roberts, Rachael McLaren, Daniel Harder, Jacqueline Green, and Sarah Daley followed by one of Daniel Harder alone and a solo shot of Yannick Lebrun. Today I would like to extend my eternal gratitude to all of the dancers that I have been privileged to photograph over the years who have dedicated their bodies and their souls to this uniquely beautiful performing art. Yannick Lebrun and Linda Celeste Sims are two of the outstanding dancers performing with The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre at Lincoln Center June 14-18. Samuel Lee Roberts is one of the many breath-taking dancers who will be performing with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre this June 14-18 at Lincoln Center. The success of these photographs has a great deal to do with the fact that Associate Artistic Director Masazumi Chaya is by my side every 'step' of the way on every shoot. He understands better than anyone how to choreograph dance for photography. A week from this Thursday Linda Celeste Sims and the rest of The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre will perform seven shows at Lincoln Center. I will post a photograph each day from this years shoot until the end of their run on June 18th. If you've never seen Ailey live I recommend you go, they are simply magnificent to watch. It's been an honor to have been invited to photograph the company on a regular basis for the past twenty some odd years and I hope to continue working with them as long as they let me!
