I genuinely hate this but I've noticed I've hit a point in the awareness of news that all I can think about now is how we're all fucked. it's been aweful for years, I've kept being hopeful and believing in inherent human kindness and I am in my bones and my soul an optimist.

but god, with open ai products hacking into other companies on their own. ai companies destroying historical texts. the rivers of drinkable water drying up and seeing people I love and respect USING ai because 'its just useful' and getting genuinely mad and annoyed every time I being up the environmental or intellectual impacts of its use. I'm so tired. I'm so tired and so scared and I hate it so much and I can't make myself be optimistic about it because this is genuinly the end of the world stories I read about as a kid, to a t. exactly what they always said was gonna happen in a thousand years.

and then my dad goes 'haha but we'll be dead at that time' in reference to him and my mom not even worries or thinking about the impacts of that on my possible children or future generations, let alone in third world countries and it's making me so fucking mad and I dont know what to fucking do about it either

I miss when ads were a single click and then they’re gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesn’t even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.

I hate advertising. I hate that you can’t do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I hate that every company unanimously decided to make their ads longer and longer. I hate that ad blockers try to charge you money and there are in app purchases to remove ads. I hate that my attention has become commodified. I hate that there’s nothing I can do about it.

the thing is I am pro-rpf on principle, but I do think you should keep it away from the actual people you're shipping. but it is NOT out of concern for their comfort (insert pete wentz bank account post), it's for the same reason that like animal behaviorists and field biologists and such try to stay out of view when they're observing animals in the wild. don't tip them off it's gonna to skew the results of my study.
