Send 💭 + a topic and my muse will tell you what they think about it.
this is just a quick heads-up that i’ll be taking a brief semi-hiatus while i settle into a new apartment and new class schedule! i might be able to do a few short replies or minis here and there, but longer replies will have to wait until the end of the week!

“Lapis!?”
Her very first and most important course of action upon seeing Lapis is to hug her. Or, more accurately, to nearly tackle her. She’d been so worried- not just for Lapis’ safety after their last meeting, but in general.
She’d really missed her.
“I am! You are! We both are!“ Peridot’s laughing all through the hug. “How long have you been here?“
For a gem her size, Peridot packs quite a punch when she barrels into Lapis at what can only be full speed. This is definitely something she learned from Steven, but Lapis isn’t about to complain. She’s learned about the beauty of hugs too, so she knows what she’s supposed to do. There’s only a couple seconds of hesitation before she leans into it and wraps her arms around Peridot in return.
“I don’t know. I haven’t been paying attention.” But she’s seen the moon go by, as the heavens themselves call attention to it every now and then. “It’s been at least a full lunar cycle.” Not that that really means anything to her.
“I can’t believe Steven didn’t tell me you were here! Did you just get here?”
( @kindergardening )
“Peridot!”
Relief crashes into her like a tidal wave when she sees a familiar head of blonde hair. It’s been so long since she last saw Peridot in person, and even longer since they had a chance to talk. Given the circumstances of their last meeting, it isn’t surprising that most of her trepidation has melted away in the face of sweet, sweet relief.
“You’re here! You’re okay.”

« ✦ ⋮ ❛ The glances they received as they entered an area referred to as the ‘Red Light District’ didn’t bother them since they were more preoccupied with how strange this part of the city looked. It was completely different from where they were from, but fascinating all the same. A smile appeared on their face when their stroll was suddenly interrupted by a person who attempted to be… inviting them inside?
Before Padpara could respond to their kind gesture, a stranger intervened and quickly pushed them away from the busy part of this bright place. “Oh my.” They smiled at the blue stranger. “Be careful. I might just break if you push me too hard.” A small laugh escaped their lips as they cracked a joke despite the expression on the other’s face.
It isn’t like Lapis to be this clumsy. Even with her gem cracked, she retained enough control of herself to walk, run, and even fight with the grace expected from a member of Blue Diamond’s court. If she was on Homeworld, she would be mortified to practically fall into another gem like this. This isn’t Homeworld, though, and she’s hardly embarrassed at all until she recognizes the cut of their gemstone, and thousands of years of habit and social programming take over.
“I... My apologies, Your Clarity. I didn’t mean...” It sinks in a moment too late: this gem is not from Homeworld nor any planet they’ve colonized. They are a gem like Cinnabar, whose entire bodies are crystallized in a way that hers is not. Furthermore, she herself is no longer a Homeworld gem, and therefore has no obligation to show any deference to even a sapphire.
“I mean... sorry. I thought... You’re a Padparadscha, right? I’m Lapis Lazuli, but you probably knew that already.”

▸ @aequor.
The glint at the corner of their eye matches it easily, and if Phosphophyllite weren’t used to that shade and color and feeling, they would have dismissed the light quickly. But they don’t, and instantly search for it, until their eyes look upwards and for a moment it’s there, surrounded by translucent wings, and maybe it’s their desperate need to see someone, or something, or just that one specific person that forces their legs to move and follow those wings.
The ten minutes that go by after that feel like an eternity, even for one who has lived four hundred centuries, but when the wings disappear and that being starts to fall, Phosphophyllite’s senses enhance as if it were themselves who were falling. They are going to shatter, is their immediate thought, for such a height there’s no way even a Lapis Lazuli of hardness five would survive.
It all comes naturally, then - approaching the gem as much as possible, and at critical condition Phos’ arms extend and shift into branches that take hold of the fallen Lapis with the most utmost care. They have done it before, after all. Even if their arms are now severely limited, they couldn’t just let this change pass them by. They couldn’t.
But when they set the other down, they don’t need to approach them any closer to notice that one isn’t the Lapis they know - isn’t the Lapis they had hoped to see. Right. Because that Lapis Lazuli is on the Moon, and they haven’t quite restored them yet, and they wouldn’t have a head. Of course. How desperate even is, Phosphophyllite, to commit such a mistake?
No– that doesn’t matter. Because if this gem could do such a thing as fly away, then maybe. Maybe they could convince them to take Phos to the Moon. Away. And if that meant being far from this place, then maybe Cinnabar, too– “You are… a Lapis Lazuli, right?” The same species of gemstone from that one Rose Quartz they have met before, they guess. Not that it matters. “You can fly?”
In the span of fifteen short minutes, Lapis Lazuli realizes she’s trapped again.
When her wings form without trouble, she assumes it will only be a matter of time before she’s broken free of this planet’s atmosphere and on her way back to Earth, where Steven and Peridot and yes, perhaps even the Diamonds are waiting for her. No matter how long it takes, she’s determined to finish what she started, if she only could.
When her wings disappear and the moisture in the air ceases responding to her will, she’s hardly even surprised. Of course something would go wrong, she thinks. Of course she’s trapped here on another unfamiliar planet. Of course she’s in danger again. Of course she’s going to hit the ground and poof, alone as she’s ever been.
Instead, she falls into the arms of a gem she’s never known.
It takes her a moment to gather her thoughts upon landing. At first, her gratitude overwhelms anything else she may feel ( save perhaps the shock of it all ). “Thank you,” she murmurs, soft but sincere. “That’s never happened to me before. I...”
And then she sees them and all her thoughts evaporate.
They are not a gem like she is. They are like the first gem she met, that Cinnabar, whose entire body is made from their gemstone. But this one is different, as they have the head of a Lapis Lazuli like herself and the body of everything but. Golden arms, agate legs, a torso that’s translucent and green — they are unlike anything she has ever seen and it’s horrifying.
“You...” She takes a step back. “What are you? Some kind of fusion experiment? A living Cluster?” She wants to put more distance between them but she’s frozen in place. All she can do is look on in horror as the words tumble from her mouth. “Who made you? Why would they do this?”

Finally, all her exploring had actually gotten her what she was looking for. Even if it was far from her new home, the shoreline of the beach made her eyes sparkle in happiness. Everything about it was much more enjoyable already, and reminded her of home and her family. She was quick to set aside her umbrella now that it was night time, jumping straight into the water with little care for much else.
Jumping back and forth, flipping and swimming around, she was overjoyed by the feeling of saltwater. She missed it for sure, but now it was something she could easily come back to and enjoy at any time! Her attention and focus was now instead given to the figure not too far from the water. Lu waved at them and flashed her usual smile, swimming up closer to the shore.
“Hi!”
There aren’t many others on the beach this late at night. This is when humans ( and many other organic beings ) choose to sleep, leaving Lapis alone with her thoughts on the ocean’s shore. Most nights, that is. This time, there’s something — or someone — in the water.
The mysterious figure thrashes about in the water, jumping, flipping, and spinning with wild abandon. For a moment, Lapis wonders if she ought to do something to help before realizing that such precise maneuvers can only be intentional. Taken in by curiosity, she waits for them to calm before trying to approach, only for them to approach her first.
“Um... hi.” She’s still not used to conversation save for with Peridot and Steven. “What were you doing out there?”

“ What did this barn look like? I’d happily recreate it for you, as I would very much like to see you smile. I imagine such a sight would be a glorious thing.”
“What? No no, that’s okay. It’s not a big deal, I’ll just... deal.”
“...I miss my barn.”
All of this talk about “love” has her thinking about Camp Pining Hearts.

“Yeah! In most cultures it’s a big deal each year and you have a party with cake.”
“That’s... so many parties...” She’s imagining celebrating the day every single Gem emerged from the ground. That would be every day, wouldn’t it? “Can we just celebrate your birthday or do we have to celebrate all of them?”
gemmedchild
“No, that’s Easter. Birthday’s are the anniversary of when you emerged, basically.”
“Anniversary? Do you celebrate that every year? For every single human?”
