Reasons why Jonsa makes some sense in this cruel GoT world:
1. Sansa is vulnerable. And she will stay that way until she gets married and secures her status (sucks being a girl, ey). Littlefinger, skeevy little perv he is, will try to take her with him to the throne, but make no mistake: I think he would sacrifice her for his own good if he had to. I mean, we shall see, but I don’t think his lust for her is more than misplaced desire for her mother, something he wanted but was denied. LF is a selfish man. He’s also too much of an opportunistic survivor to let himself get dragged down by extra baggage (i.e. another person’s welfare).
Littlefinger is a plight, and one that Sansa is now indebted too. There is no doubt in my mind that these two will have a nasty confrontation soon, and Sansa needs protection from one of the most dangerous men in Westeros.
2. Jon is the heir to the good ol’ Targs, not the Starks. Or is he? It’s hard to say, as the last Stark is Sansa, but boys rule & girls drool, so maybe Jon would still be higher than her, even though he isn’t directly related to Ned. He technically is the Targaryen heir though. Either way, he is a Targaryen, and the North is not very fond of that. His situation is thus a bit prickly - easy prey for someone like LF. Certainly, LF has his sights on Jon now, too, if he wants to make Sansa jealous or make Jon crumble himself. What Jon needs is more of a ‘Northern presence’ if he wants to rally up troops against the WWs. A Northern wife who is also in danger of getting wed off to another abusive asshole might be the perfect deal. And Jon is an honorable man who values family very highly.
3. Both Jonsa and Jonerys (is that their name?) are incest-y. Sorry. We’re in this together, guys! Let’s not be hypocrites here. A valid point against Jonsa is that the two lived together during childhood and were brought up as half-siblings. Interestingly, Sansa is the one who was most removed from Jon, perhaps because he did not fit into the world she was spoon-fed, and because she imitated her mother, so perhaps Jon was barely accepted in her mind as blood related. Interestingly, we have not seen these two interact much at all until now. Interestingly, it has been said that Jon was originally meant to have a romantic affair of some sort with his sister Arya in the books. It feels almost as if, for all that they were ‘siblings’, they were as far removed as could be from each other. They stood on opposite ends, though their values ended up not being that different after all - Sansa believing in the virtue of the lady, Jon in the honor of knighthood. Sansa is not Arya, who Jon had more of a brotherly relationship with, and this makes their rather awkward reunion very interesting. Especially given the universe they live in.
Now let’s talk biology real quick. Just for funsies. An aunt offers her nephew no new DNA to work with. Sansa has the Tully genes on her side (that LF loves oh so much). Technically speaking, Jonsa is genetically less incest-y than Jonerys. I know. It’s half an argument. But just an observation. Can’t believe I’m ‘supporting’ cousin marriage, but it’s actually widely legal in our own world. You know, js.
4. Then let’s talk personality. Both Jon and Dany have proven to be the ones leading revolts, conquests, etc, but when it comes to strategy and advising, they still have a bit to learn. They are similar to each other in that way (yay for Targ genes..?)
Sansa (and Tyrion, gonna slide in my other OTP here) are the opposite. They are the ones advising from the shadows. Jon and Dany may be the shining forefront that people find themselves drawn to - they may sing the song of Fire and Ice, but Sansa and Tyrion write it. They get down to the psychology of it. Sansa’s time with Cersei, LF & Ramsey have taught her no less. She has been surrounded by heavy thinkers and strategists for ages now, and it is shaping her into something Jon isn’t. Something complimentary, and something a bit similar to Ned & Cat. Gotta love parallels, guys.
5. Let’s be real here. I’m arguing for an angsty, incestuous coupling. This is a marriage born not out of romance but necessity, vulnerability, and hopefully trust. I do think that Sansa and Jon will have conflicts, but I think that may bring them closer together. Jon needs to see Sansa for the damaged yet sharp blade she is, and Sansa needs to learn how to trust again. It’s a rollercoaster of “what”, “ew”, “omg”, and “my heart is breaking help”.
This is Game of Thrones. Do you think we will get the obvious power couple? Or do you think we’ll get kicked in the balls and thrown left center? Who knows, I may be completely wrong - maybe Sansa and LF will go down together in the ugliest romance ever. But maybe not.
