[Text:Grant] SHE SAID YES
hardasdixmonds:
Several scenarios of how the conversation was going to go passed through her mind. A side effect of being married to Scott she assumed. always ready with a reaction a-g just to be safe. She smirked beside the serious expression she was supposed to be holding. “Yes, as you should have.” The serious tone didn’t quite match the glint in her eyes. But she schooled her features trying to act less than amused on the outside “Long before things got this serious. I assume they’re rather serious at this point if that word is being tossed around casually. But you’re absolutely correct, there’s no reason as to why you didn’t, except perhaps fear but I’ll overlook that for now. So I can assume you want the seal of approval then?”
"I believe that such a seal is often required in relationships in this realm." He replied, matching the smirk on Emma's face. "I am afraid that there are many cultural differences between your kind and mine in regards to courtship. And more so between my people and myself back at home, if I make any mistakes I nm do not intend them, it is because I am still learning." Aesir was being honest with his thoughts, there was no point in lying to Emma, not when he already wanted her respect before he had begun to date Megan.
hardasdixmonds:
“Hardly.” Emma stated without forthought. They’d had conversation about the very thing. Both seeing how much Summer Megan had in her. Sometimes Emma would find it endearing others she would worry, but she didn’t tell the boy before her any of this. “Mr. Summers and I are hardly typical parents, darling. Sure he can see aspects of myself in Megan a tad clearer than I do, there’s no doubt that girl is a Summers through and through.“
A wistful sigh left her. She remembered those days with fondness. When teaching was her passion. When her only goal in life, only redeeming quality was her ability to help the next generation of heroes. Life had killed that dream for her. "Hold on to that…"She remarked more to herself, gaze falling to a few pictures on her desk. Students long since past. Many, if not all dead. "It only gets harder from here.” She shook the sentimentality of it all away with a movment of her hand brushing the fallen strands of hair from her face, “I always found it was easier to read a stereo manual than essays. I hope you enjoy the novels nonetheless.”
And there was another lesson about Midgardians for Aesir to learn, he’d been here for nine years and he was still struggling some days about the way things were here, so instead of questioning it he simply nodded. At the mildly warning a small smirk appeared on Aesir’s face before he gave the woman a small shrug. “I did say I’d only do this for a century, that time passes by quite quickly. From there I will decide on something else to occupy my time.” It was a joke but after the words left Aesir’s mouth he started to wonder if that type of joke were only acceptable on Jotunheim or Asgard. “I am not sure if that is as funny here as it is where I come from, if it’s not I apologise.” He stated with a slightly confused look on his face.
“I am sure I will, and then I may take some copies that are not your own to my father.” Loki being in a cell was driving Aesir slightly mad, and he could see the same effects on his mother, but it was what it was and he could do nothing about it except hope that he did not receive the same treatment.
hardasdixmonds:
She found her smirk had settled into a line. As much as she liked the boy, and she did like him, Emma was here for a reason. Not a friendly chat, as she’d express several times on the phone to Scott. Her brow rose unimpressed at the comment before settling into intrigue. “Oh? I suppose that would make sense. Speak, before I start then, because I’m a friad it wont be a very friendly conversation”
Aesir placed his bag back down onto the table behind him, leaving it, and his coat sitting there as he turned back to face Emma, a sincere, but serious expression on his face. “I know that I should have come to you when my intentions around Megan changed before Halloween. And there is no excuse or reason as to why I didn’t, I simply apologise.”
aesirlokison:
“She has your poise I noticed.” Aesir pointed out, his mind flicking back to the girl he had only met twice now. Physically she was very different to the woman in front of him but Aesir could spot little traits that the pair shared, enough to make it obvious that Megan was Emma’s daughter.
“I was wondering if you had any other recommendations actually, I find it is nice to read when marking gets too much and you start to question the competency of your students.” Of course, they weren’t actually his students yet, but with Thor so busy at the hospital and Aesir in his final year of being a TA, he was basically a teacher.
“Ah, but she has her father’s compassion, determination, and mind. Poise and elegance can be taught, those things not so much.” She said it so wistfully he almost forgot how much of Scott she actually in Megan. The complex mind of her husband was one of a kind and she was almost proud to see it in Megan. She cleared her throat, least she gets too sentimental.
Her laugh was light but cold. “Of course I suppose since you seem to enjoy Orwell,” She moved to one of the boxes, “Try this one,” She extended the copy of Lord of the Flies toward him. “Beyond that Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess is rather interesting. Freiheit 451 or Kafka’s Metamorphosis and The Trail are superb as well.” She smiled, “I probably have a copy of Kafka’s work in one of these boxes if you want to borrow them as well.” Her lip twitched at the comment about grading, “Ahh the woes of teaching. It’s not all that bad, is it? Every so often you get those few students who seem to make it all worthwhile. ” Flashes of memories came rushing to her mind and she dispelled them with a slight wince.
"I wonder if your husband will make the same claim but in regards to you." Aesir asked with a small smirk, lifting and dropping one shoulder casually. "It seems to be a pattern, most parents cannot agree which their child is more like, my parents included."
He followed Emma silently as she handed him the books, placing them into his bag amongst a large stack of essays that he had to mark tonight. "Of course. That is what made me decide to become a teacher for the next century or so. But I have found there is a point after about five hours of continuous marking that you begin to lose your mind and will read anything as long as it is not an essay about the fall of Rome." He smiled again, nodding a thank you once she was done.
aesirlokison:
“Wait, really?” The concept confused Aesir who stared at his friend. “It isn’t banned here because it’s bad luck and considered informal? I mean, most people break the rules, but still.” He was also fairly certain that most women had to be virgins upon marriage but that part he wasn’t so sure about. “You know I never said that I was the one getting married. I could be helping my Dad to do a Midgardian wedding because it’s that time of the century again.”
Grant shrugged. “There are no real rules anymore dude. but man I feel getting you through the proposal first will be a big thing and then I can confuse you with all the different types of weddings and all that crap. but before proposing normally the guy will ask the father for his blessing. I guess for your girl you would probs go and ask her ma. I mean you don’t need it but it can help.” The man shrugged, complete ignoring the comment about this wedding stuff may being for Aesir’s parents. Because Grant knew exactly who it was for.
Asking Emma. That would either go perfectly or turn into a disaster. "That reminds me that I actually need to talk to her anyway, thanks." He smiled at his friend before the man sighed and fell back onto Grant's bed, staring up at the ceiling. "I'm starting to see there are stark contrasts between your rituals and mine..."
grantedsummerhero:
“Well normally people date for some time before hand, perhaps move in and that jazz but dude as long as you actually know the person..” He shrugged in his reply looking back at the screen before handing the laptop to Aesir. “Here, Here are some proposal videos people have uploaded but man best thing to do would be go somewhere you both enjoy have like a really nice date and then pop the question. I don’t think this whole going over the top thing cool.”
I could be helping my Dad to do a Midgardian wedding because it’s that time of the century again.”
grantedsummerhero:
“Dude you kind are confusing to, especially with ya blue skin and all.” Grant shrugged turning his laptop back to himself “But when you propose with that ring. Normally the guy gets on one knee opens the small box and goes ‘Blah blah will you marry me.’ He said in a playful tone before making a small disgusted sound. marriage was so sweet it was sickening to Grant. “But some people go all out. like these guys. Marching bands, flash mobs, sky writers the works man.”
“Hey, where I’m from it’s easy. I pick a girl, or guy, or whatever. Get to know each other enough to the point where we’re both happy to do this, depending on the species that can take a few months or a few centuries and then boom, married. Get to spend the rest of our lives getting to know each other.” He explained with a casual shrug, glancing at the laptop screen again. “Right, nothing that happens before that?”
@hardasdixmonds
“If you’re looking for Mr Odinson he just left for the hospital, you might be able to catch him if you run.” Aesir called out mindlessly as someone walked into the empty classroom, turning around when the person didn’t immediately run away. “Oh, Ms Frost. I was actually just about to go looking for you.”
grantedsummerhero:
“Well people use all different kinds of rings. Normally with a lot of jewels or something. Here.” Grant quickly searched engagement rings before turning his laptop around to show Aesir. “Like it can be any design or anything. But yeah it is put onto the left hand, unless you are russian and then they use the right.”
The rings that Grant showed him were certainly different to anything he’d ever seen on Jotunheim, though he was starting to understand it. Until Grant mentioned the Russian thing. Aesir turned to his friend with a deadpan expression, raising a single eyebrow at the man. “Why are your kind so complicated?”
grantedsummerhero:
“Yeah, yeah.”Grant waved his friend off as he walked into his room, flinging his clothes off the bed before dropping down on it. “So Marriage huh? Dude you really moving quick man.” He snorted, pulling out his laptop. “First thing you gotta do is get engaged. Which means you need a ring.”
There goes that plan. Aesir thought with a roll of his eyes before he stared at Grant, raising an eyebrow. “I’m assuming this is a specific ring not just a regular one?” If it was then that made sense as to what Megan was talking about with the hands. “And it goes on the left hand right?”
grantedsummerhero:
[Text: Princey] Yeah well you owe me big time for this.
[Text: Princey] See ya soon dude!
Opening the door Grant just snorted. “I state again you owe me big time for this man. Come on, we will go to my room.” He said with a nudge of his head leading the other upstairs towards his room.
“You owe me for the shield thing remember?” Aesir reminded Grant before he followed the boy upstairs to his bedroom. The house was similar layout to his own, just currently less... Decorated. “And so far I’m just confused about all of this, don’t think too much of it unless I tell you to. Megan is a telepath... And so is her mother.”
